See ... you get more quests by researching further questing technology, and it is very possible for a large number of quests to be nearby your homebase (with enough quest tech) Now, if you are focusing on the Adventure part of the Tech tree, it is an assumption that your Champions will tend to be better (because you could have been improving your empire, or armies, or magic). Thus, not only to you get the cool loot, gear, and possible increases in prestige ... but a team of questing C

Seeing that Heartblades require the use of a Dragon's Heart (see reply #151), possessing even one is a rare accomplishment. The added bonus of forging a heartblade with a specialty item may well be worth the wait, as far as looking for such special items.

I always saw it as an abstraction of expanding your Overall mining operations, and to implement mechanically how an empire, over time, goes from having only a few elite soldiers/champions clad in iron armor, to having many troops clad in iron armor On a similar vein of thought, having "specialty weapons" (like Katana +1, although in this case it would be Katana +3...) should cost significantly more Iron. This could be tweaked by balanced, but lets say a regular

It looks like an Amazing game. Reminds me of "Sins of a Solar Empire" in that its 4x real time. I wonder if, in single player, the game auto-pauses when you zoom to cloth map (or if pausing is a normal power in Single Player, and orders can be given during such paused time)

Aye, I play the campaign as well. Of note, King Arthur had multi-path campaign ... even if choices were limited. Perhaps interesting backbone to place as a Foil vs any Elemental Campaign plans?

Okay ... so we have a consensus of either make foundries multiplicative for the first few steps, and then switch to additive ... OR to have foundries be additive, and increase production by more than 2x with the initial building (like +4 or +6)
For instance 50 soldiers come for you. Bad skills ? You see "10-200 peasants" Average skill ? "63-121 soldiers withs words and medium armor" Good skills ? You see "94-118 soldiers with swords, medium armor and seems to be rookies"
If it were truly 50 soldiers in the enemy army, I would prefer Bad- you see 25-75 people Average- you see 35-65 melee troops

see, I like that time line all the way up to April 16th, 2011, 08:45:17 "Stardock AI becomes self aware" the later stages I would prefer to see would be "Stardock AI begins designing its own VideoGames" and "Stardock AI takes over weaker AI's within Impulse based games, copying itself into the AI of every Impulse Game" and "AI continues to provide a better and more challenging gaming experience for any game bought via Impulse" and then ... who knows, probably s

heh ... while my post was ... well yea ... I would hope that a similar direction is incorporated into the lore/ already part of the lore etc. ALthough I can see how, since Elemental is based on a World outside of the Novel AND Game, the lore might already be relatively well established. If, however, the post-Cataclysm empire lands' ecology is still under discussion I hope my post (Reply #1) is taken into consideration. :)

What I want is a personalized diplomacy system, with bonuses for having one of your champions residing within one of the other player's cities.

Yea ... honestly, what they should have done is require the Online DRM/ Steam for multiplayer ... and just had a simple CD-Key for single player retail. As in, Steam digital version has the Online DRM and Single/Multiplayer, steamworks, ect Retail version would have an additional CD-key, but only the CD-key would be required to install and play the single-player version of the game. If you wanted multiplayer, you could log onto steam and "upgrade game account" with onlin

I think that overtime=you lose ... is a tad extreme. Instead merely flip over to the next turn, no harm done. It still means that the fastest player will get the most things done, without having a lot of default win/losses.

I think that completing quests should also garner experience points. Maybe even more so than the average battle.

Well, it is kinda funny that the Empire's natural habitat is scorched earth and volcanoes, but kinda cool at the same time. What I would prefer from total barren wasteland in the "Deadlands" is not a lack of life, but simply a lack of safety. Half the plantlife would be carnivorous (like man eating giant fly traps/ little shop of horrors plants/ Needle grass that drinks blood). The other half of the plant life would look alien and foreign, like the blood-vine, which draws wate

Foundry doubles the amount of Iron produced in a city. You can build more than one. The number that you can build depends on city size. IIRC max is 6 foundries??? I was getting carried away back there ;) As for it being multiplicative, I think it makes perfect sense, and integrates well with the increase-scale of the game. These foundries are relatively expensive iirc, take a while to build, and are a significant investment. Therefore, it is as if you are maximizing miners, and creati

I wouldn't think so, because actively completing quests and fighting in battles grants you *theoretically* much more exp than sitting around siphoning off empire-wide exp on a percentage base.

Direct2Drive is probably one of the most lame digital providers, although at least its friendly. It requires no draconian DRM, or "online activation" ... you simply buy the game online and download it. The reason it is the most lame, however, is that (for the most part) it seems to only be a once per computer thing ... meaning that unlike Impulse or Steam, you can't use a D2D drive on multiple computers. This could just be my own experience and not the majority of interaction with D2D

Well Tormy, an Iron mine produces 1 iron per turn. Build 1 foundry and the mine is producing 2 per turn. Build 2 foundries and the mine is producing 4 per turn. Build 3 and its producing 8, build 4 and its producing 16, build 5 and its producing 32, build 6 and its producing 64, build 7 foundries (only 1 space each) and you have one iron mine producing 128 iron per turn. Now imagine that there were 2 iron mines in that city (256 iron per turn), or 3 mines in that city (384 iron per tu

Au contrair, while AI vs AI might be interesting; the success of an AI is determined by its ability to interact with the human player. (generally with the goal of winning), as with the case of Deep Blue. The current goal of modern robotic engineers (and robotic AI programmers) is to get a robotic soccer team to play with a human team and win (without killing the human players). This is of course, a long term goal. For now the focus is on getting cars to successfully race against each

The mongols invaded Europe in the 1200s I believe. I think the Byzantine Romans might have fought them in isolated incidents, however western Rome had at that time been divvied up into the well-known medieval kingdoms united by the Catholic Church.

I personally will have fun playing as the Empire. If you want Fallen that gain exp and level, just play a Fallen Race with a Kingdom government. Of course, in an Expanded version it will be likely that Fallen units can gain exp ... just far, far less. So that Kingdom exp growth is say 6 times faster (Empire gains 15% normal experience) For vanilla, however, its cool that they decided to go in this direction.
