[quote who="Bill_Door" reply="45" id="2639624"] Quoting Frogboy, reply 44 Well, the AI and the core gameplay. But the alpha game took care of creating a fun gameplay, didn't it? Yea, the beta 1 phase has turned out to be even more crucial than we had thought it would be when we first set it up. I wonder how many people remember what the game was going to be like originally. The enhanced design is just so much more enjoyable to play. One e

Why only August or Februrary? No middle ground? Edit: I leaped before I looked, but now I know. I didn't realize about booking the retail space, and now it makes sense. Just as a curiosity, what is to stop a company from selling their product several months earlier online than its available to retail? Or would retails be less likely to allow you to buy shelf space after its already been several months on the market? O
There is a fine line between picking a different strategy with an equivalent chance for victory, and simply making a mistake that does not maximize the benefit of your situation.
If my memory serves, in the current build we don't have any of the "max spell points" increasing technologies, thus this strategy, while possible earlier, is no longer possible because of the giant tech hole in the magic field (even more so than earlier) That being said, once Beta 2 comes out, it will once again be testable. In practice, however, I almost always go for a hybrid ... and I hardly ever get the same amount of usefulness from schools twice in a row (either I get th
I think you mean gold and materials ... although we have buildings that produce only 1 wood or 1 gold per turn, that require no tech ... similar to how gardens @ no tech provide 3 food each.
I'd be more interested in knowing how close the ECONOMICS in Beta 2 respresent the final build, and how much say so in balancing buildings/ building types we will have.
How about, the defender (or weakest) chooses how many units he manually controlls, and the Attacker is limited to controlling a max # of those units. However, you can't choose fewer than 5 units, unless you have less than 10 soldiers or less than 5 units.
Yep, I've seen that happen QUITE a few times over the past couple months or so ... but not often enough to warrant distress ... like once every 100 browsings I think. Anyways, im sure its some sort of browser glitch when interacting with the forum server ... or something.
is anyone helping you with the AI this time around?
Okay, currently I am having extraction errors, as in 100s of errors. During the process of extraction.
June 10th is for losers :p but yea, I think we all know that the beta "should" be released on June 10th .... as per announcements by Stardock. Honestly, I don't care when the finished product comes out ... I just want an upgraded beta soon :)
Oh, for this scenario I would DEFINITELY want to spend the gold for a Champion that produces (at least 2) spell points, and a Champion that produces (at least 2) research points. especially the spell point one.
Well, for me its coming RIGHT WHEN SCHOOL STARTS!!! :p ... and also shortly b4 my 21st birthday.
Basically what I was saying, was to increase max spell points to 150 ASAP (via tech extensions) while you build any Spell Point producing buildings to fill that gauge. Hopefully you can time it so that you have already teched the spell point expansion (to 150 spell points) by the time your spell point gauge starts to fill up (approach 100) so that no spell points are wasted w/o having to buy a weaker spell. Then, having your 150 spell points, your Fire book, and your Fire shard, with
Yar ... I seriously doubt its gonna be released in late august ... however I think its a perfectly good goal for them to set ... better than being intentionally lazy or something :p But yarb ... its lame we have to wait a week, stinking AI requirements yarb :p
Sounds good. Would be interesting for some techs to be more useful for a smaller empire and almost worthless for a large empire. preferably such techs in all categories. Also, special techs depending on terrain, such as your forest example. Or a tech that improves Ice shards (one for each type of shard).
allowing an army to hide in ambush (this would be cool) allowing a hidden screen that purposely lets the army pass, and then attacks from the rear when battle with a second force commences (this would be cool) allowing for a small defensive (scouting force) to retreat (would be nice) allowing for a well equipped/well prepared defensive force to exert a Zone of Control ... whereby all potential attackers passing through the area would be forced to face the defending arm
"circle to the north side of the city, break down the gates, then heat for the barracks and burn them" This leaves an interesting question of if we can actually "burn down" or separately destroy individual buildings during the actual battle and if this could have a negative effect on the Defensive player's bonuses (city bonuses). For instance, set any one military building on fire, defenders lose 10% max bonus set all military buildings on fire, defend
Do they cost 0 mana because there is 0 gameplay effect to having a magical garden vs throne of skulls wasteland?
right ... but I have to get SOME version of Empire Total War before getting Napoleon right? or can I buy/install Napoleon as a standalone? And furthermore, the mongols invaded Japan in the late 1200s, and sometime before or after giver or take 100 years, was when Japan attempted to invade Korea and failed horribly. China and Japan never fought before the Meiji restoration, when Japan kicked Korea's Ass, Russia's Ass, and was starting to take names, and face down China h
Gold sounds good for ultra-rare techs ... or maybe something that shines, sparkles, and glows in a flashing pattern of "on/off/on/off"
Hair- gah - mem - non Thats how you pronounce it I think. Similar to Argamemnon. but its less "hair" and more Hee, err ... so its the Hee Err Gah Mem Non.
well, the Zen-like approach at least seems to be a step in the right direction.

For those of you interested in Dinosaurs ... I am indeed planning on (eventually) creating a mod with Dinosaur races. Primarily, the main Sovereigns/Champions will be true dinosaurs, and then the grunt soldiers will be more humanoid dinosaurs (kind of like DK's lizard people, or Mario's turtle people, only dinosaur people). I plan to have a unique faction for each popular race .... For instance, T-rex (large therapod faction), Velociraptor (fast smart faction), Dragons (powerf
