In terms of spending DC on actions, perhaps then just assigning DC values to various diplomatic options that are unavailable by any other method. For instance, right now, we have open borders or closed borders. Instead of putting in many more types of treaties for different situations (I only want to pass through for 10 turns or I only want your borders open and not mine), perhaps these sorts of smaller diplomatic actions cost DC. So for instance, when I try to
I still think the simplest way to make DC work is to give it concrete (practical) value for both humans and AIs. Right now it's a gimmick that only has value because the AI is forced to think it has value - you're exploiting the AI if you ever trade him DC, because the AI is giving away real practical resources for something that has absolutely no use, the AI just happens to be suffering under the delusion that it's good for something.

I start the game. I load the last save which was an autosave. The first thing that appears on the screen is a research breakthrough: I can pick between 4 choices: PARIDEN DEMISE - THE OTHER SIDE - TRADING - NEGOTIATIONS I pick "The other side", I play a little without ending my turn. In fact I play a battle but since I don't like the outcome I decide to restart the game by reloading the same autosave (this time I am reloading without exiting the game). Now the first thing that
Addressing that, you've contributed little-to-nothing in the way of creative ideas on these forums. No offense, but everywhere I turn, if there's a post by you, it's advocating one or both of these things.
You miss the point: TELEPORT SPOILS ALL ASPECTS OF THE GAME, almost whatever I talk about is connected to something spoiled by teleport. It is almost impossible to mention anything that has to do with strategy without realizing that it could possibly be spoiled by t

Sovreign's portraits look kind of silly when they are positioned in a way where they should hold a weapon but they have nothing in their hands. Their portraits and Champion portraits should be updated according to the weapon they hold. On the other hand I don't think that champion's portraits should be updated every time they change armor. I don't think it would be good to see armors in portraits because that would make champions harder to recognize. Especially because the actual sele

The one I am talking about is the "lots of spell research" condition. I mean that you still have to do all the research, but you also have to control the 4 shards. Which is better IMO, than simply research, because the other players at least can do something to prevent the spell from being cast. My perspective is always multiplayer, which I believe is where the true potential of this game lies. By the way do you think the AI will ever be able to pursue any other form of victory
quoting postDoesn't the AI have enough problems already? Do we really want the AI to pay gold for something worth strictly nothing? You can use it instead of money to buy stuff from the AI like crystal. It should be used also to effect AI relations, the lower the diplomatic capital the higher the chance the AI declares war. This should also be tied with game turn (the further into the game, the more capita

Sanitation micromanagement we can live without, but a healer temple or an hospital could speed up the game by making units more ready to go, and that we do need . You guys know what I feel about teleport and ANYTHING that speeds up the game in a realistic manner, and can add up to make teleport less of a desperate necessity for certain players, is welcome here.

I have here this video where Brad says that. It is in fact a very cool concept but I am not sure if it is still implemented. The reason why I love that is that it implies that there are only 4 elemental shards: one of each kind, that they are therefore extremely rare and they are crucial strategic points. In a place where city spamming is so common that cities become a micromanagement nightmare and a boring thing to see, anything unusual and special is a plus! Also that concep
1. I care. In fact it is one of my favourite details within the game. It might be purely cosmetic, but it is a joy to watch as the world comes back to life.
Then you should play Age of Wonders Shadow Magic instead, where the domain spells have a powerful impact on the game: frostlings are invisible in their snowy territory, a life domain make cities produce more, a death magic domain spell covers the map in darkness...
1 Changes the look of the landscape. 2 Determines if you can build on a resource. 3 As of one of the later patches I believe your units get a slight combat bonus in their own Zone of Influence (can't remember the details though). 4 You only regenerate health in your zone of influence. 5 Teleport spells can only move you to a target in your Zone of influence. 6 Other nations can only enter your zone of influence by declaring war or signing a non-agression pact

Strategy games and wargames don't need square tiles anymore nor they need hexes, we could have circles and distances now. All those absurdities are the result of an obsolete way of thinking. But that doesn't mean you aren't doing a good job.

Whatever you do please make it more clear which quest has to be completed where, meaning that a player should be able to have the next step (highlighted location) of each quest pointed out at any time by checking his notebook. As it is now it's already confusing (and bugs don't help), I can only imagine how it would be with 20 quests open...

Playing 1.09, child fails to spawn. Also the dragon fails to spawn when I complete the egg quest (quest performed from beginning to end by custom sovreign, the only "special" thing that I have done was to enter the items menu and select and then immediately deselect the egg, wondering why that item could be selected. It makes no sense.

Any news about the movement system? I have pointed out several weird movement behaviors in this game, and asked to explain if it is just me not figuring things out... but nobody answered. Am I the only one to notice how messed up the movement system seems to be in this game? Because it certainly seems like a real mes but nobody ever talks about it...!!! Let me explain it again: Units movement points should be individual, a unit should be able to enter a stack which has

By looking at units hit points during a battle, one can see that they get updated well before the animation, thus giving away a few seconds too early the supposed suspense of the attack's outcome. That in itself is a bug IMO: the animation of the attack should come before or at the same time as the numeric update. Let's suppose now that you are about to strike for the last time the last enemy unit remaining on the battlefield. If you click on that unit but don't wait for the last atta

Since I would like to see certain heroes dedicated to city government, and I believe that the AI leaders would do best staying inside their cities, I believe that certain skills should encourage such style of playing. Maybe they should even improve as the sovreign gains levels (tax bonus, food bonus, army training bonus etc...)
