Please see this post for what the developers would like to see in reports of crashes.
Publius of NV
Pretty far into the game, I selected one town to add an improvement, and then clicked on another town to select it, intending to add another improvement to it. The game then crashed with the "Turn based strategy game has stopped working" message box. No dump. debug.err is here.
You should be able to open and look at the debug.err file with Notepad or any text editor. If you're using Dropbox to share the files with the developers, you don't need to open the dump file, just copy it to the Dropbox public folder. See earlier posts in this thread for details on how to use Dropbox.
I've seen that also, on 0.299.
Is this the same as the problem reported in this thread ? It seems like it might be different.
You might want to post the output of a dxdiag command so that the developers can see the details of your display adapter and drivers. See this post for details.
You can equip a shield in the custom sovereign dialog, but you can't equip the shield you find during the game? Good catch! Update: Ah, sorry, I didn't notice that you were reporting for version .3 instead of .299. Downloading .3 now.
I got the same thing trying to build a town hall. Dump is here. debug.err is here.
Agreed, I expressed similar sentiments about pioneers building on forests in this post.
This sounds awesome.
I liked the tutorials in GC2, but then I was a beta and gamma tester and didn't really need it. A couple of people I showed them to thought they were helpful, but they thought they needed more. The advisors might be a good addition.
I wonder how Las Vegas would exist in a local resource system. Talk about a poorly placed city.
This is going to be off topic, but I can't resist. In the years before 1920, artesian wells in the Las Vegas valley shot water over 6 feet in the air. Early settlers had no problems with growing enough food for themselves and their livestock. In the early years mining was an important industry (and actually still is active, although not as important as in
Besides turning off advanced lighting, turning off anti-aliasing has helped some people.
For a crash there's usually a dump file that the developers will want to see. Please take a look at this thread for details on where to find it.
I attacked a city with my sovereign, fought a battle with 2 units, and took the city. The next turn an enemy stack suddenly appeared right on top of the city, with my sovereign still in the city: I moved my sovereign out of the city and attacked the stack, which turned out to not be a stack, but 5 individual units that I had to attack one at a time.
I cant even make groups...only individuals
If I recall correctly, when you continue to research warfare, you'll get to a tech that allows you to train companies.
Yes, it's from the current version.
I see this also. Doesn't seem to be any dump file though.
[Sorry if this is a duplicate post, but these forums are so wonky sometimes - I thought I'd replied to this but after more than 15 minutes I haven't seen the post on the forums.] In my humble opinion, YES THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE MENTIONED. I reported it in this thread, and it's been reported in at least one other thread. Thanks for confirming it.
I was wondering if that was the effect. Thanks for clarifying it.
What you're seeing is the result of an endorphin rush caused by getting so close to a MOM-like experience.
That explains why it's so addictive!
I think you've confirmed the report of this here.
Frogboy (I think?) stated in a video that this is most often fixable by making sure all of your units have moved.
Well, I hope they fix it soon, because as I recall the first time this hit me the only unit I had outside any of my towns was my sovereign, and he had already moved his max.
Their deaths at his hands is very sad. Oh yes, my sov lives to fight another day.
[e digicons][/e]
This has been reported a couple of times before - see here , and I think there are one or two other reports. It was a problem in earlier betas, but was fixed and has now resurfaced in Beta 1Z. The best theory about what's happening is in the referenced thread, that there's a popup window that isn't being shown, so that you can't respond to it. That certainly would explain the problem in every instance I've seen it, since I
