I've seen the same behavior, but only once. I was zoomed way in, got the problem, then zoomed out and saw a couple of trolls and some enemy peasants move, and was ok ... for a few turns. I've had the problem again numerous times and haven't been able to clear it with zooming. Too bad, it's very annoying.
I wonder if there's some active quest information that's not being stored in the saved games.
OK, scratch this idea. I just failed the rats quest again (i.e. I carry the dead rat back to the inn and nothing happens), but it didn't involve loading a saved game in between getting the quest and completing it. I had loaded a saved game, but it was before I got the quest.
Still better than when the rats appear in a tile you can't get to....
I've been able to complete a couple of those quests by using the raise land spell to allow me to get to where I needed to go. I think both of them were escorting someone to an estate for the reward. Of course first I had to travel down to the southwest where the earth shard is and defeat whoever was there.
Strange. Immediately after taking the above screen shot I used control-u to remove the FOW. That caused most of the rest of the map to show up, but the mountains just below and to the left of my sovereign, as well as some others at the end of the eastern valley, didn't - they stayed blank as in the above screenshot. Reloading the game from an autosave, on the turn just before the one pictured above, and using control-U, revealed all the mountains.
Here's an example in version 0.30. If I remember correctly from past games, the tile immediately to the south of my sovereign is a mountain, and yet it's not showing. I can't move my sovereign there.
I've gotten the rat quest 3 times now. The first two times I was able to complete it, but the third time (on 0.30) I was not. One difference between the third time and the other two was that in between getting the quest, killing the rats, and returning for the reward, the game crashed and I had to reload from an autosave. I wonder if there's some active quest information that's not being stored in the saved games.
I was trying to see what I could do to build a female sovereign that would have very high wisdom and intelligence so as to be a strong magic user, and also high charisma to recruit heroes to do her fighting for her. It's hard using the current options to get her looking seductive. Some mouth options are needed to be able to get her to smile. The first few poses all make her look too angry. I think this is probably my best attempt: <img src="http://dl.dropbox.co
She looks scary. Maybe the daughter of either Two-Face or Joker?
[e classic][/e]
I think that could be resolved by looking to the real world: Water. Lack of access to water, particularly fresh water has been the key limiter historically. Right now, because the river system is being redone, the world doesn't have rivers in it. But it will in Beta 3 again.
Excellent! Rivers increase food, commerce, and defense (assuming you're on the opposite side of the river from the enemy).
Actually, I guess the facial anomaly doesn't have anything to do with the shield, here she is without it:
Here's an example of the first (default) pose using a female sovereign and a shield. Not that not only does the shield pass through the body, there's something wrong with the face as well.
In the two games where I've seen this, I've had the tech for villas and estates long before my city grew to 500 population, but I've never seen any auto upgrades of the existing houses, nor have villas or estates been available in the building selections until the city got to 500. Of course I'm no expert, and I don't know whether houses are supposed to auto upgrade to villas, or whether villas and estates are supposed to be available with the population less than 500. I do hope
I moved my sovereign, hit the spacebar, and the game crashed. This was two or three turns after the problem described in this thread happened to me again. debug.err is here. dump is here.
Saw it again in my latest game.
You're right, I just noticed this in my current game. I moved my swordsman out of the stack and mass heal then worked on him. Casting it on the stack uses up mana but doesn't affect the health of other units.
I'm not so sure the end turn button problem is a result of movement - or at least always the result of movement. In this autosave game , when I can successfully load it without Elemental hanging on the "Creating world" screen (about half the time), the only unit I have outside my towns is my sovereign. If I leave him where he is and don't move him, but hit the spacebar 3 times, the end turn button gets grayed out. <
I just saw this too. One of my towns got to 500 population and all the houses disappeared and the population dropped to 220 (evidently the inhabitants of the slum I still had left).
This happened again to me on version 0.30. debug.err is here . I think that on the turn that was coming up I was completing a research item and also one of my towns was leveling up to level 5. There is a saved game here , but when I try to load it the game hangs on the "creating world" screen.
In all the games I've played, the pop-up says either "It's a boy" or "It's a girl" at the top.
I can confirm that in 0.30 the bottom display claims that spell points are increasing +1 per turn even after recruiting Myrimanus, but the spell points actually increase 3 per turn.
Due west of the 1Z map starting point, there's a ruin next to the swamp that is under water. Your sovereign can't get to it to search it. I tried using the raise land spell to raise the ruin to the surface, but the spell could not be used on that tile. You can see from the following screen shot that I was able to raise the land around the ruin, but the ruin itself remained under a lake that I could not remove, and my sovereign still could not move onto that tile. <im
Ah, that probably explains what I reported in this post.
I fully support this; I'm not having as many crashes as I did in earlier betas, but I agree that it's important to get the game stable before moving on.
P.S. A possible BUG I have noticed, I think, is that the fancy Compass you get as a reward, does not ever show up in your Inventory, unlike the healing Plant, Books or Potions...
As of [0.30] this seems to have been fixed. I was able to return the damsel to my city, and the compass showed up in my inventory, and after equipping it, my sight radius went up 1.
It would probably help the developers if you could post the debug.err and dump file as described in this post .
