Some thoughts on cities. What if we require 'support' villages to build up? A huge city is completely unable to feed itself, and thus requires the support of others. Instead of population determining city size, our total number of cities limits it. Level 1 Outpost: Lets leave Outposts as they are in Beta 3 - they can produce enough food, and with one Hut added, enough space, to level up to a Village.
Same just happened to me with a custom Fallen faction.
Yes, there's a marked tile that you can build farms upon. You could also build a fishery.
You need to build a farm, which needs fertile ground and research.
Sending your armies through that mountain pass over there is nowhere near as cool as sending your troops through Dragonstone Pass or whatever.
Agreed. Having random map-feature labels on the cloth map, or being able to set our own labels, would be very cool.
3 mins is longer than you think. The Tactical battles in SoTS also last about 3 mins and sometimes even they can drag a bit (usually when people start fleeing.)
Based on what I've seen this game needs a lot more than just 21 days (assuming people are working on weekends - which I doubt they will be doing) of additional work. There is of course the possibility that the beta testers haven't seen a lot of the content though I suppose.
Which we already know is the case.
Quoting Thiryn, reply 18Honestly, I don't understand the hate for the lore. If you want a game which is a completely blank state lore-wise then play Spore. Was that directed at me? I said I found the lore inspiring. Save for the race of Men who are a little bland compared to the different races of the Fallen. My opinion is that the race of Men should be more diverse culturally and visually.
Nope, its aimed at those tha
Honestly, I don't understand the hate for the lore. If you want a game which is a completely blank state lore-wise then play Spore. Personally, as a roleplayer, I'd rather have some deep lore so that I can actually feel immersed in a game and I actually feel that even a small amount of background lore can make one hell of a difference. For example, Sword of the Stars happens to be be one of my favourite 4x games because when I booted the game up, well I was expecting your usual variet
Despite the typo's...I think the random backgrounds are really cool. Hopefully they'll add random names/backgrounds to map features and cities too. Perhaps even 'log' the history of a city (i.e. battles etc) kinda like all the random backgrounds and descriptions in Dwarf Fortress.
The monsters seem to be no stronger than they were in 1Z now. There's a few that are too strong to take on early on in the game, but they make things interesting imo.
I think this is where more graphical distinction needs to be drawn between deserts and wasteland.
They're pretty easy to tell apart already, imo. One has sand and cactii - the other has nothing but dry, cracked earth along with a few rocks and...a large number of Inns.
3) Falling in love: right now we get to determine who are little boys and girls marry. This doesnt always happen, and could throw a nice twist if you arranged that marriage between Pariden and Altar, but your little daughter runs off with Paris to Troy sparking a war..
That'd be brilliant.
Perhaps they could make it so that a child can only be born when a Sovereign is in a town with his/her spouse for 1 or 2 turns; that'd also give you more control on how many children you actually have.
Isn't there a spell that lowers mountains? Who needs to walk over them when you can just make them vanish.
Would anyone else like a way to disable the cloth map -- or at least change the threshold where it kicks in? I'd really like to be able to see more of the world without having to be on the cloth map. The maximum view height before the cloth map kicks in is far too low for my tastes.
There's a slider in the options menu
Quoting Tridus, reply 53 Yeah, I agree with this. (Posted something similar in another thread. ) I also think that Gardens are the bigger culprit at this point. To grow a city where your food resources exist, you just build houses. But to do it when food isn't adequate, you build houses AND gardens. You need 2 gardens per house (IIRC), and that just chews up more space and adds more annoyance. If the number o
I also really, really, really love the artwork and graphics. [e digicons]:D[/e]
Yes, its because the AI hasn't been fully implemented yet. Most of the time they don't seem to bother attacking after declaring war though so you can usually ignore them.
Name: Thiryn I'll take the 'Adequate Cheese Maker' if he/she's still availiable.
- Sea monster: can be used as boat!
Heh, I like this idea, also it'd be cool to occasionally be attacked by Kraken's and other sea monsters when traveling across water.
I love this game, even though I'm still learning how to play it (only up to vid number 5 in the youtube tutorial but then I got bored and started learning things the hard fun way instead) Anyway...could I claim a Dwarf? [e digicons]^_^[/e]
Quoting Grove12345, reply 14Well there is even 2 more schools of thought when coming to MORE COMPLICATED. 1. More complicated as in adding more micromanagement and things to do. 2. More complicated as in add more strategy. Right now the game needs #2 for sure. I feel im not getting much from city building. Seems boring. as far as #1, i wouldnt mind a happiness/loyalty meter to keep people from riot
Housing is more a interesting issue, my personal opinions is that you shouldn't have to build crap housing, slums specifically, they should auto build as your population turns up, noting much of your population is supposed to be immigrants from the wasteland, for you to then replace with good housing should you care to, I mean this is why slums exist. One of the actual city builder games does it like this, I just cant remember which one.[/qu
