Is it possible to make a quest where rewards are given based on the player's profession or class or stack leader's class (or the class of another hero in the stack)?
I don't think so, at least from reading the core .xml files. You'd need, I think, a that defined the leader's class, and I don't think that is ever done in the game's standard quests. Heavenfall/parrot

Vanilla archers are hardly overpowered. But Archers with the Ram's horn longbow and glyph stones, on wargs and trained in a city with 3 essence, aura of grace and heart of fire - THOSE are overpowered!
Assassins can do more spell damage than mages. Assassin is secretly a spellcasting class, especially with equipment/abilities that gets crit chance above 50% and increases crit damage. They lack the consistency of mages, but with AoE spells they are almost guaranteed 1 critical hit. Not saying assassins are BETTER than mages - I am saying that they have the potential to be better. Give a sovereign the warlock and brilliant traits, level him/her up as an assassin. You'll se
I don't buy it. Crushing blow really screws you if you miss, and it doesn't get the swarm bonus in accuracy. Blunts have very significant initiative penalties. In a more combined-arms scenario, blunt weapon init penalty lets ranged units soften them up, in addition to spears getting first attack. That's a significant disadvantage. Crushing blow lets the damaged group hit hard,by by their next turn they are dead. I'd feel much more comfortable facing the unknown with sp
Is it just a feeling that catapults shouldn't be associated with 'Drills' and that it's more of a 'Blacksmithing' tech?
This. The catapult is distinct from archers, and that's good. Archers are cheaper, but the lesser catapult's splash damage ability can be huge. What if it was unlocked by 'Education' in the civics tree instead of in the warfare tree at all?
I am still playing with this, but: I like the lesser catapult, its cost and usefulness. However, it seems too early in the tech tree to me. Can it be bumped up to blacksmithing?
I tried Large irregular, medium irregular. Both worked very well.
It's worth investigating. Some abilities can be stolen, most can't. Sovereign bond can be stolen, I can confirm.
This is a great mod, exploring the world is even more fun.
Nature's cloak is the #1 counter. The other is to have an Ophidian in your main stack...
There's nothing you can do to defend against this? I can think of two ways.
Turn 175. Problems?
No wait, I didn't think that, because it would have been ****ing ridiculous.
How about a game purposely designed to kill off the player constantly, inducing crushing frustration? Definitely absurd and ridiculous. Demon's Souls and Dark Souls made a lot of money off that. The Contra/Gradius et al. shoots capitalized on that before. Turns out beating that crushing frustration has huge value on the other end. Not
Yeah, where is the robot?
Will try this soon. FYI GFireFlyE- I am playing a game with your lesser catapults right now. Feedback soon.
A DLC is no longer "optional" if it provides content that was severely deficient in the original release.
I KNEW the obligatory "THIS CONTENT SHOULD ALREADY BE IN THE GAME" post was coming. Can't believe it took this long. Kudos to Derek. My response would have been less diplomatic.
Hand holding means telling you which research to pick, which buildings to choose and which enchantments to use. It's not handholding if the UI simply points out that you have to make a decision, or better informs you of the current situation. The challenge of the game should be in figuring out which strategic choices to make, not remembering that choices have to be made at all.
Well we disagree, fair enough. F
Hand-holding is required in game design, but too much and it gets a dark side. 4X is hardly a genre that is designed to be highly "accessible" in the total spectrum of gaming. Does this 4X game really need to prevent you from forgetting to set research? Reward or success are a result of your management and care. This game already has a steep learning curve, and demands you pay careful attention if you are going to learn the deeper game mechanics. Maybe forcing resea

The rivers become plains, even though they look like river.
Wow, that was fast. Have to hurry up and finish my current game.
Imperium wildlands is only cleared once you build a city inside it.
Had you built an herbalist, then apothecary, before you checked for alchemist?
This map generated for me (large irregular): https://www.dropbox.com/s/jxwf4e1vs2qfkq4/large%20irregular.jpg Awesome job! I'd like to give it a spin on medium size.
