I think you should take a moment and read what the doom and gloomers (to use your description) are saying a bit closer...I think everyone here is well aware what a beta is considering those who are in the FE beta now are all pre-orders to WoM and were in that beta as well. Anyways, I think the thread sends the right message when looking at all this historically. The notion "it's just a beta!" was said last time too, and the issues (at least the ones I am having) feel a
Thanks for the suggestions, though I have tried to adjust settings and drivers are all up to date ect. I'm actually a Sr. DBA and have been building computers and playing PC games for like 25 years :P
Interesting. Unlike those games, this game is heavily multithreaded. Perhaps that's where your problem stems from. Anyways, very different from my experience. I find the game very stable and, outside of the occasionally bugged special ability, quite responsive.
I have no less than 30 games on my computer, this (and the original) are by far the worst offenders. Thinking more about it...I don't think maul should even be on a weapon. Even with some tweaking, it makes that weapon stronger than anything else in the game without it. I had weapons much higher level and damage than the one with maul but there was no point of using them...even if you only get in the second hit with decent chance, it makes it almost twice as powerful as anything else. Maul should probably just be a skill or something.
It's the same engine (correct me if I am wrong) and with what appears to be the same exact problems from before. Mind you, these problems *still* exist in WoM for a lot of people and even with over a year of new development also continue persist in FE. Personally I think it's something inherent with the engine, rather than just some beta niggles yet to be worked out. I think for those people who still have these issues with FE, things are not looking bright. <
I think it should just be limited to a total number of concurrent attacks (2 or 3?) and the hit penalty should be greatly increased.
Very strange. I have played many hours without any significant technical problems. Makes me think that the issues have to do with the game compatibility with specific hardware.
This was the same for the original Elemental, some were having no issues, others major issues. Every game is like this realistically, but there is something to be said about how many people are effected. I think Brad once estimated i
@LordXia Yeah I made a separate thread a couple days ago with the issues and screenshots...I also sent in my .err file as well.
Please do not judge the game based on your poor experience so far. A big reason for open beta is to test the game engine. There are, as you know, literally tens of thousands of possible computer hardware combinations. It is impossible to test for a company like Stardock. A gam

1) When I summoned an Air Elemental it got the last hit on an enemy unit but got into some kind of animation loop/glitch. It just kept hitting nothing really fast and wouldn't stop. I had to click "auto resolve battle" to move past otherwise I would have been stuck there. 2) Crashed a few times, feels like same situation with WoM. 3) The magic mace that shrink foes (sorry, forgot name) is totally awesome, but even if you land a killing blow the "shrink" text co
I disagree completely, special abilities would bring many improvements to the game and make combat much more interesting. To be honest I was surprised the first time I played Elemental one of the first things I noticed was the distinct lack of special abilities in combat. Not to say things like flanking/terrain/ect are not good additions too, but I'd rather have interesting units with differing abilities than flanking any day.
Let me tell you guys something that has come up a LOT internally: If Elemental had been released in February 2011, it would have still sucked. I'm going to be giving a talk at GDC 2011 that goes over the details of this and some of you who are familiar with Stardock are already aware of some of the issues that led to Elemental's crappy launch. But in a nutshell, most of Stardock's revenue comes from non-games.
Quoting sagittary, reply 10But do know what Capitar is? Not really. And we're not likely to be inclined to learn much just to play a game and 'get into it'. More so, Elemental is a post-Apocalyptic fantasy world... a far cry from the standard fantasy conventions (setting particulars not withstanding at that). Elemental, perhaps, needs to be much more forceful with what it is. We see these fantastic battles and unit portait backgrounds th
Sounds pretty much spot on. PCG's reviews/previews/articles/ect have been excellent as of late.
For me personally Elemental is definitely the most disappointing game of 2010. On release for me it was completely broken, and while the stability and some mechanics have improved, it just still doesn't have that gaming magic I was hoping for. I really hope the first expansion will change that, otherwise after that I think I will basically just give up on the game all together.
I actually just booted up the game for the first time in ages to check out the progress...and this is the first thing I really noticed. I played a tiny map and I guess both factions started close...within maybe 30-40 rounds I met the opposing sovergn and he was decked out with top end stuff...there's no way they were able to get it that fast. Maybe this is a new mechanic designed to force you not to engage them until later in the game?

Personally I think the "Gamers Bill of Rights" is and always has been nothing but pandering to a certain whiney demographic of gamers. I also think it is offensive to other developers/publishers...game development is tough and even the best intentions with a great plan can end up with issues. Stardock themselves can't live up to their own doctorine. I think a company being committed to providing a quality product is awesome. Striving to create the best product possib
Oh wasn't in beta...anyways hope something like this get's patched in somewhere down the line.
So most know as the game progresses more and more monsters/enemies start spawning...not a bad mechanic on it's own but I would really like to see the idea improved. Right now it feels too random and I think that takes away from the overall feeling of the game. Would I would love to see: -Instead of just randomly spawning enemies, have a a spawn point for them. So for instance bears would have a cave, spiders have a web, dragons a cave/mountain/ect, and whateve
