Sounds like 1.3 has made ruined a few things for you. I, myself, am awaiting 1.4 as it promises to be the patch 1.3 should have been, including the A.I. improvements, which are sorely needed at this point. A lot of players rolled back to a previous version, myself included. The 'no head' thing is definitely a new 1.3 issue, and should be fixed soon. Check the forums for any advice relating to that specific issue. As for the cities, this can

The amount of money I've been willing to spend in Impulse and have been unable to due to the misfortune of having been born in Australia is obscene. It's literally around 10 times what I've currently spent on Steam, where I don't buy a game unless I'm happy for it to be deleted when Valve decide they don't like me any more.

I think if 3D at home has any future, it'll be once someone figures out how to make it work without the glasses. The 3DS is a brilliant piece of tech, and made me a big fan of the 3D. If I had to wear glasses, I could see myself simply opting to not view 3D at all. I didn't realise the sets could convert 2D into 3D though - that's something I'd be interested in. How does it work?

Bah, I can't dig up those Terms. Hopefully its not something like "Let us read the review first, and if we don't like it you can't publish it." Judging from the complete lack of information regarding the in-game advertising, I think it could possibly have something to do with that - though that is pure speculation.

I bought the most recent issue of 'Australian Offical Xbox Magazine' for their Deus Ex review - they gave it 10/10. They said at every single point in the game, you're making choices - either through action or in-action. There's a lot of choices they made just by playing a certain way, without even realising it. They gushed all over the visuals, though they mentioned that it's all high-tech pre-"fall" stuff, so it's not as dirty as Deus Ex felt.<br

Sounds terrific, Brad. One question: have there been any discussions internally about the Beta process, and how to handle feedback? WoM's Beta's forum was filled with threads about things that are still being addressed today, such as AI. At the time, we were told it was all Ok in the developer's build, however the release version still housed a few issues. Has there been any talk about how better to address feedback within the context of the Beta?

There's a couple of ways to look at this. Firstly, is the slow but unstoppable march of technology. Theoretically, once Laptops, Notebooks or 'compact PCs' reach the processing power of the basic desktop PC, the centralised desktop is dead. However, as basically everyone will know, this level of portable power has already been reached. And yet the centralised desktop is still very much here. This is because of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mo
Well I can't really speak about Crysis 2 which I never purchased. I do hate the idea of the extra map packs, especially if they were produced along with the game. However I would question your statement that you "had" to pay for them. You could have just not bought any DLC at all. Then it would have cost the same as usual. From your description it sounds like they were pretty awful anyway, so why buy them in the first place?
This ensures the first wave of DLC is ready and waiting after the game launches. In Crysis 2's case, all 3 of it

PC Gaming is a live and well, however it's not headed in a direction that many people enjoy. Instead of simply buying an AU$100.00 game and enjoying the average 15-20 hours of content, we get an AU$100.00 game with around 8 hours of content, and then we're charged extravagent prices for piece-meal content. Although the additional purchases are optional, it doesn't change the fact that releases today contain less 'game' than they did in previous years.

RAGE has my attention because it's from id Software, and they always deliver the goods and push the boundaries. It's their first really "console" title, however I'm cautiously optimistic and believe that if anyone can provide a solid single player balls-to-the-wall-FPS game, it's these guys. At the very least, it's got John Carmack's next visual magic under the hood, so it's going to be beautiful. I'll wait for the reviews, however I'd h

I know I'm bumping an old thread, but I didn't feel this deserved an entirely new thread to discuss. As some people might know, Diablo III is now going to include an Auction House. Two, actually. One, allows people to put items on their for in-game gold. The other? Allows people to sell items for real money. No, this isn't a joke . <img src="http://www.diablowiki.net/images/thumb/e/e

While very pretty, all I saw here was a nice slideshow. In-game footage is all that matters. While it's nice to see people thinking in different directions, this has ultimately zero worth. I'll wait until they've got something real.

As some people are already aware, several EA Titles have been pulled from Steam by Valve . The reason is that these titles - namely Crysis 2 and Dragon Age II - have in-game options for purchasing DLC; you don't buy these games' DLC items through Steam, you buy them through the game's interal menus and/or store. This is violation of Steam's newly updated Terms of Service Agreement. What's interes

For those unfamiliar with the term, "patent sitting", or "patent trolls", refers to company's who own patents that are not actively using them: they patented a concept, an idea, without actually producing something. Normally, this isn't a bad thing: in today's world, it's probably a good idea to patent something when you first dream it up, so someone can't steal your thunder. The problem, then, is when the patent granted is so incredibly vague that it's clea
