One extra step could be to add a spell that helps defend the caster against ranged attacks. It won't solve everything, but it will help.

- I would really like to see minor factions to grow and interact more, and perhaps trade on a more even level than primary factions. - I don't like the shared mana pool idea. I'd rather have essence and intelligence put together, or be given more level up points to distribute. - I don't really get the tile placement restrictions on city building, I feel like sometimes I can't build something and I don't really see a good reason not to.
One of the big issues for me is the AI building illegally - ignoring food/gold when building cities/units. Does that have to wait until Brad returns?
Supreme Commander 2 and League of Legends. I play tower defense on Sup Com 2 - you take a 4v4 AI on hard - land only, on the land bridge map, then only build towers up the middle and see how long you can hold out. I've made it a little over an hour, but eventually the mass of experimentals is impossible to bring down.
I'm gladly going to work with Pacov to polish the campaign. I'm making notes as I go. Please note that I love Elemental, and overall have been impressed with the campaign. I expect Pacov and I (and whoever else goes through it) to post everything, then go back and highlight what we see important. Philosophy One thing I noted is that Elemental will be getting a tutorial. How experienced with the game should someone be going through the campaign?
@Kaiser - have you tried windowed mode? That way it runs at your desktop resolution. Since I switched, I haven't had any alt-tab issues.
SD folks - is there anything else you'd like us to do to assist at this point other than sending in logs on crashes, etc? I'd be willing to play the crap out of the campaign and log all of the things that could use fixing or tweaks (and I'm not talking about game breaking things - just stuff that adds to the overall polish). I'm not going to spend the time if it isn't likely to be used though.
I'll join your ques
I'm in the same situation.
Title says it all, really. my internet went down, and I was okay with it because I could play Elemental. Instead, it freezes on the loading screen. =\ UPDATE: Apparently its happening online as well. Looks like the last patch broke it, I'm going to continue trouble shooting this in the appropriate thread.
I actually thought of this when I had some issues with alt-tabbing. Now that I'm rocking the new update, and running in window mode, it seems to be doing fine.
As I am playing through, I've been making notes of bugs, ideas, and things I'd like to mod. Instead of alt-tabbing, it would be nice to have a notes page that could be accessed via the overlay. Ideally, this note page would have a way to load and save as text files. Tabs would also make organization easier.
Programmers start counting from 0, and since Frogboy is such a beastie, Stardock counts as such. ;) Sorry for my mis-understanding the day of the day 0 patch. Frogboy making his post on August 24th (albeit at 12:30 AM) and saying that it would be out tomorrow confuzzled me. :P
I believe the current version is "Gold++", a sort of pre-day 0 post release build. Tomorrow, in theory, the official Day 0 patch goes up.
What games do you enjoy on your laptop? Generally speaking, a laptop game for me needs to meet a few requirements: 1) Playable with minimal mouse movement, or at least non-rushed mouse movement. Starcraft 2 wouldn't work, as an extreme example, but worldwide football manager does. 2) Playable with minimal system requirements. Laptops are getting more powerful, but the average laptop still isn't up for playing Left 4 Dead. 3) Playable
This game came out last year, with mediocre reviews. Most said it was a good system with some bugs. The trading card/RTS combo intrigues me, and I'm curious to see if it is worth checking out.

It just drives me mad when I see a game on Impulse which I want to buy, but can't because of stupid regional restrictions. Steam has The Witcher on sale and I'm tempted to buy it, not because it's just 5€ cheaper than on Impulse, but just because it's available on Steam, while Impulse locks me out. Best example: The THQ bundle on Impulse. Available
I've been reading through the different threads on magic, spell books, and spell power/specialisation, and come up with a method that I think could be a lot of fun. One of the cool visuals I got was that a page in the spellbook has notes written all over it. The way I visualize things working in character is that a group of mages work together and discover a new spell - Fireball. The basic information required to cast this spell is past along to the Soveriegn, who pu
- If you do a little recon, you can find the open source version of Transport Tycoon, which has multiplayer (as well as loads of mods you can use). - Dawn of War 2 has a great Co-op RTS campaign. It does have some RPG elements, but should be manageable. - Altitude is a fun multiplayer game with 2D dogfighting that you can play for free to some extent. Not sure how fast his ping is, but it should be fun to play against the computer (or each other).
I missed the switch from RTS to turn style, and I'm really disappointed. I'm not saying I won't enjoy the turn style - I was just really pumped about the Lords of Magic style of the game. To me, turn style fights are a bit too hardcore, and it scares me that it might hurt the size of Elemental's potential audience. I just don't care to spend a huge amount of time deciding who should be on what square - I'm a Summoner, I order my legions, I don't care whether a foot s
I thought about playing Elemental, but was afraid of having fun, so I didn't. Instead I played a bit of WoW - just starting out with my girlfriend, been a nice time killer so far. I also played League of Legends, my current standby.
Ender's Game combines the bug and hive mind tropes, and it was written in its first form in 1977. This successfully predates the movie Aliens and leaves us with an easy counter-point to the original debate. There are lots of variations of the bug/hive-mind theme in scifi novels that predate Ender's Game, but I'm not familiar enough with them to point to one that specifically relates. As for the Protoss, it really isn't hard to come up with an alien race that has s

I'm sure that Stardock didn't want the two games released at the same time, but with the Civ forums being in anger over Steam, competing directly might now be a good idea.
I doubt that they are changing their mind based on Civ 5. The best thing that Stardock can do for Elemental's sales
....Its not April first, is it?
They aren't saying you should/must use facebook, they are saying that the community features of Impulse are not a replacement for Facebook. Everyone has a familiarity with Facebook, so it is an easy benchmark. I would love a gaming service that provided me with the means to easily keep up with what my friends were playing, talk about games, and invite them to new games. Impulse and Steam both have taken steps in this direction - meaning they want to have Facebookish features
