Welcome! Have some Karma, I expect those TPS reports on my desk by tomorrow.

Interesting, thanks for the heads up. After my disappointment in Red Alert 3, and EA's recent underhanded tactics, I'm not sure if I'll jump on this. As I get older, Beta means less "fun" and more "frustrating."
It wouldn't be hard for, say, Blizzard to add an App so people could buy and sell items via their iPhone. Not sure what else you could use it for, though.
The iPad is going to use a version of the iPhone's OS, so it won't be able to run Elemental natively. If bootcamp works with the iPad, you might be able to get it to run, assuming the hardware is strong enough. I wouldn't hold my breath.
Lots of comments that are right on, and lots of comments that wander ridiculous amounts from the topic. :P Two things that I can see: 1. The Cold War/WW2 made Socialism/Communism curse words. The average American is not against socialism in concept, only in name. 2. Unrestricted trade, conceptually, has some amazing benefits, such as being able to produce beyond the possibilities curve for BOTH nations trading with each other, even if one country is b
The game will definitely be more free flowing. It is hard to say how long the battles will take (I'd imagine an "it varies" is a good saying). Pause anytime, issue orders, but otherwise more RTS-like battles (outside of the turn-based parts). Those screen shots with the grid sent me for a loop at first too. :) I'm not sure on the modding front. They have some builder applications that will release with the game for modding purposes. It uses a scripting
Just because DRM has not been an effective method to stopping piracy does not mean that its purpose is to screw customers over. Some forms of copy-protection have been very effective (look at consoles for a strong example). Looking at big businesses as evil money grubbing organizations is a good way to alienate yourself from the real picture. They may be near sighted, but every decision they make keeps their target consumer base in mind. That all being said, I'm a hu
Has potential. Hopefully it has enough meat to be worth sinking my teeth into - I loved legos as a kid.
They can always place the timeline somewhere earlier/later/in between to make it work. It would be nice for them to revisit the universe, perhaps with a different ship/crew/etc, with cameos from the original cast here and there. I very much doubt we will get a new season, but you never know.
I'm constantly looking for games to scratch specific itches, and am in need of some new ideas. I'm going to throw out some genres and games that I consider to be the best current option for time spent. Feel free to nominate any games you wish and add new categories. The idea isn't to nitpick over what the best option is, but to throw out some ideas as to what people should really be spending their time on. Competitive RTS <span style="font-weight: normal
What are you upgrading from? You can find 22-24" Dell and Samsung monitors on sale regularly for 150-200. Both brands look very impressive and have a clean feel, and work fine for both my photoshop work and gaming. I'd consider going with two of those long before I dropped $500 on such a high end model, unless you're doing very precise professional-end work.
While I am nervous that the economy aspect of the game is going to get crazy complicated, I think enough of us here appreciate a streamlined approach that while it may have a learning curve, it will be approachable. As for the sizing issue - I think the idea is more to shift the focus when you have a gigantic kingdom from micromanaging every single city to managing your relationships with the nobles that serve you, which is a terrific idea.
Ha! Karma for you, sir.
I would like to see a few mainstream, big deal, big time quests that people are building to that have a large impact on the game. I would like these quests to be open to anyone in the game to complete, or at least know about (the last thing I want is a dragon to wreck my city because I didn't research Advanced Lore so I didn't know that the "Aid the Ice Dragon" quest was available). In fact, having a main story line initiated at the game's start, and having all of the quests mov
A quick catch: When you check out, you can see the coupon code that is used to apply the discount. You can then use that code with any store, whether they have seen the promo or not. A simple "Special promotion" flag on the coupon could turn this: "* The XXXXXX coupon has saved you $18.00." Into: "Taking part in a special promotion has saved you $18.00."
The FPS genre will continue to move forward. Companies are still producing new engines (like Valve's Source), and as long as they do that companies won't have to invest a lot of man hours to get a decent game. A company like valve produces a new engine and makes a star example of what that engine can do. It doesn't have to do much more than break even, and the licensing will turn a profit. And in Valve's case, every game they make gets more people to download Steam, wh
Team Fortress 2 still has a decent following. I'd also recommend a game like Demigod or League of Legends, both have huge team elements and a FPS kills/deaths mentality.
I wouldn't mind my computer auto-downloading demos of new releases, actually - if we could just get a smart way of figuring out when I'm not using my computer and no one else is using my internet connection, I'd be all for it.
From me:
Theres that troll again, when will he learn? [e digicons]:troll:[/e]
From OsirisDawn:
@FutileEmotion Coming from an analyst background myself i must say that Nesrie has a strong point here. It doesnt matter in this discussion tho, 'cause Frogboys point was something completly different, as i understand.
Nesrie's point is very valid, I would agree - but I was actually picking at Frogboy,
When will you add preload prediction, so I can download games I haven't bought yet but you know I will?
Theres that troll again, when will he learn? [e digicons]:troll:[/e]
Yes, if they pre-order they will automatically get into the next round of betas (whenever that is). And Christmas is only about a month away, so not that long of a wait. :)
Actually, I bought it, so its my game. ;)
I like the idea of different grade materials going into weapons, but I don't like the idea of having lots of different types of resources scattered on the map for me to keep up with. What if a simpler system was used, where all metal shows up on the map as a light gray to dark gray. The darker the metal, the higher the quality/richer the deposit. When you first start, all metal on the map is visible, but it all appears as light gray. As you advance in tech, you reali
Awesome! And I'm glad you stepped in Mark, I was way out of my league. :)
