I think this is a good discussion, and I am glad that we are having it. (And actually, it really does more appropriately belong in this Discussion thread, rather than in the survey/data-collection thread, that I started.) Also, I don't really think that we are all that far apart ... I believe that most 4X game players want variety in the games they play. They want meaningful choi

EXCEPT, a lot of us are not complaining about how easy the game is ... and I think among the future players (people who come new to the game, especially after the retail version is finally released) may well fall into that category. They will probably expect a learning curve, but I would bet that a lot of them will NOT consider the game too easy initially ...

As near as I can tell, the last official pronouncement on this subject was the 1st main point listed in Frogboy's Forum thread entitled: "Elemental: June 2012 Status". The complete quote was: " When will Beta 4 come out? The best I can say is "The Summer". It definitely won't be out in June but might make it in time for July. "

Thanks, as always, for your input, StevenAus. BTW, for the sake of the next time that I update the statistics on this Discussion thread (like I did in my Reply #27 above), I plan to count you as someone who plays on the Insane level (unless you tell me otherwise). I am doing that on the basis of your own excellent Discussion thread (" I finished Insane Difficulty ... "), which (acknowledgement is due here!) was one of the reasons that I decided

Agree Completely with the consensus that has emerged among the first 13 respondents to this Discussion thread. So I have nothing to add ... except my vote/voice: Please fix/correct/improve this broken feature in the next update to the game ! Do

Okay, so I wanted to answer the Poll questions, for myself ... (1) The two games I have thus far completed, playing v0.915, have been on the Easy level. Prior to v0.915, I played 2/3 of my games (six total) on the Beginner level, and 1/3 on the Easy level. (2) The reason I choose to play on these easier levels, is principally because I want to have a good prospect of winning the game. I think that makes me a

I have noticed that the Action Bar at the bottom of the screen was missing, at the start of an interactive battle, on a number of occasions. Curiously, I have never had it disappear, once a battle had begun, (if that is what you are describing.) As Glazunov1 notes, I believe this is a recognized bug; and presumably it will be fixed in the next beta. (And of cours
In my experience, different difficulty levels provide different levels of fun depending what kind of game you are playing.
Tuidjy, I found your observations above (your Reply #10) to be nuanced, and thought-provoking. In fact, it got me to thinking that I would really like to know what level(s) of difficulty other folks are playing at, too. So, I have started a new Discussion thread

Preamble: When E:FE v0.915 was released, I was overjoyed to see that two new levels of play had been added to the existing seven. The range of play difficulty now runs: Novice, Beginner, Easy, Normal, Challenging, Hard, Expert, Ridiculous, and Insane. I think this is about right -- 5 levels above Normal, and 3 levels below Normal. (I think Stardock made this latest change, partl

I like your question, stein220 ! Good Move ! One of things that I enjoyed most about Sid Meier's Civ 4, was that you could generate a variety of basic Map/Geographic styles in that game, such as: desert-river terrain, mountain-highlands terrain, American "Great Plains" terrain, etc. Of course, Civ4 also included the (by then, standard): continents, islands, and archi

LightofAbraxas, I had a somewhat similar reaction (to yours) when I saw the E:FE Banner Ad the first time. In fact, in the first reply to Frogboy's Discussion thread entitled: "Elemental: June 2012 Status" (after first thanking Frogboy for the updated Info), I specifically asked the following question: " But one other question: WHY does the new one-line
