The Steam notice has been there since the website was updated for the new game.
Thanks, Island Dog, for the courtesy of a prompt response/answer to my question. If, as you (and Koskee) say, the "Steam Warning" was always there, then the mistake is simply mine. So be it. I may (or may not) use Steam -- probably won't. I may (or may not) buy a second copy

I just read the Small Print, at the bottom of the full page ad, for "The Political Machine 2012". (The full page ad appears to be tantamount to a new home-page for this new game.) To my surprise, I see where this Ad now says (in effect) that everyone will have to use Steam, to play the game. Is this accurate? I hope not. I placed my pre-order (a few weeks ago) via the Stardoc
I think this is a good Discussion, and I am glad that we are having it! I think there have been a number of excellent comments -- including a couple I particularly liked: Gorde's Reply #5, and KingHobbit's Reply #10. But just to review the bidding (and to clarify WHY I said one of the things I said in my Reply #1), I wanted
Craig Sneed, I'm assuming that your second question (in the Original Post) is your real question. In that case, I believe the latest official pronouncement on this subject appeared in the last paragraph of Brad Wardell's Post entitled: "Fallen Enchantress Updated Screenshots", which he posted on July 18, 2012. The concluding paragraph reads as follows: <span style="fon

While waiting, Gentle Reader, for the August issue of Wired Magazine; you might want to wander over to Island Dog's Discussion thread ( https://forums.elementalgame.com/428503 ), with the pointer to a "Freakanomics" Podcast, in which Mr. Wardell contributed, by talking about the death of Steve Jobs, and how it had changed his work habits and life
Thanks for the pointer, to this Freakonomics Podcast, on the subject of "jerkitude" ( "Legacy of a Jerk" ), which includes Mr. Wardell's comments on lessons to be learned, from the life of Steve Jobs. I've always liked the Freakonomics books by Levitt and Dubner ( Freakonomics and SuperFreakonomics ).&nbs
I think this is an exercise in age verification. It wasn't "my computer", but I started on a mainframe that had to be housed in a separate refrigerated building, while learning COBOL at college. Programming was done on punch cards (keep those suckers in the right order). My very first computer to own was an Altair microcomputer, that I paid around $500 for in 1975. It was followed by a Commodor

Nice ! ... Lots of tantalizing food for thought, in this Fallen Enchantress (Beta 4) Update ... Thanks for the Update; and thanks for your continuing hard work, and the continuing hard work of Derek Paxton, and all your Development Team members ! [e digicons][/e] Special
I had a wonderful Commodore PET (Personal Electronic Transactor) with a whopping 8K of memory, that I purchased in the Fall of 1977. It had the "Basic" language built in. Within about 18 months, I traded it in for a "top-of-the-line" Commodore PET with 25K of memory. Ah, the good old days! ... (and yes, I had a Slide-rule in college, but I don't think that counts, 'cause it
Regardless, I am still in the camp that champion immortality needs to be addressed beyond the wound system. Whether it is via a small chance of death (I still prefer this, especially if there is a chance of resurrection - something that would tie in nicely with FE's magic system), ransoming, loot drops on defeat ... whatever ...
Whats an AAR?
Sometimes the acronym "AAR" refers to an "After Action Report". That is: it's an analysis of (or commentary on) something shortly after it's been completed (or reached some stage of completion). In other words, it could be Frogboy's summary statement regarding what features will be in the Beta 4, and/or a heads-up regarding issues that he wou
The worst part is having to constantly kill champions who you've just defeated, in a never-ending loop. In my last game, I finally lost a city to an onslaught of enemies, and when I tried to retake it I found all the champions that I'd killed untold times, stacked up there defending it. End of game for me, I can't compete with that. If the devs won't change this crazy mechanic, at le
Interesting continuing discussion here, about the annoying issue of champions never dying, when coupled with the AI's shabby, silly practice of constantly throwing defeated (ever weakening) champions back at the human player, again and again.
Champion immortality is fine. Heroes don't die in stories, why should they die here? The issue is that the AI sends them at you without r

Lots of positive response to the Beta 4 Update ... as there should be! Thanks, again, Derek and Development Team members!
