Well HOMM combat is more like chess using rock paper scissors method and Civ combat is like checkers and too much luck factors. I still remember those days when spearmen from caveman age took out tanks and archers took out battleships. That has to be the worst combat engine around.

Waiting 1 month isn't a long time to wait for another patch. I'd be happy with 1 month patches myself. You should get Paradox games where you wait years for a patch that finally fixes the games.

I bought Elemental CE or LE whatever you want to call it because of the many months of pleasure I got out of GalCiv 2 series. I NEVER pay $80 for anything game wise but I did Elemental because I trust Brad et al will make it as great if not greater than GC2 eventually. I already know EVERY game released is going to have issues. How they can give Civ V in the 90's on reviews just pisses me off though as it hardly rates in the 90's with the problems it has on release. I think Eleme
I don't see the point in going back to build the same building over and over again as population increases, when you could just increase the production of one building in proportion to population. I've been reading posts from Civfanatics of CIV V burning up video cards like SC II. This doesn't bode well for 2k games or CIV V. Getting Elemental even with its little flaws is not as bad as Civ V now. Besides the Civ games have been done to death. At least Elemental is new an innovating and in a years time you won't even know it and maybe even "multiplayer" will be in the game by then. "_)) I'll get Civ V just like I did Civ IV when all the expansions and the "complete" gameset are $7.99 a
Also, I really want them to stay away from GalCiv2 design because GalCiv2 is excruciatingly boring.
Well Brad that statement right there should keep you away from anything lordebonstone has to input. He will never be satisfied about anything unless it's what HE wants and nothing else. GC2 was hardly boring as it's the best Scifi 4x game to date next to MOO II and they stand hand n hand in the MAJORITY of players books. So I would just ignore anything he has to

I like Brad's idea best and yes this game should be moving CLOSER and CLOSER to GALCIV2 in play value and difficulty and AI approach. GC2 is the best scifi4x out there and I see no reason why Elemental shouldn't follow that path as well. I'm actually pretty sure it will but you will always have your naysayers no matter what you try to design and do. You will also have those that want to redesign the game for themselves like lordebonstone.

Another thing about Age of Wonders vs Master of Magic is it took away too much of the army feel of the game and made it more of an RPG romp than a fantasy stragety wargame. Nary a unit is a regiment they are all individuals and playing a stack in AOW felt more like playing a Gold Box RPG game. Fortunately Elemental brings the army stacks back again. 10 units with 10+ members per unit. A regiment of fighting units that feels like a regiment of fighting units instead of "Frodo goe

Railroad games are so easy to beat. All you have to do is float bonds till you get a nice rail line an income then buy all the open stock as the player and then have the railroad buy back all the bonds. When you buy that last bond your stock will skyrocket and you will go so far into the lead nobody will ever catch up especially the AI because it never counters this method by buying at least 1 bond of your railroad. I used to do this in Sid Meier's Railroad and Rails West (hah does anyone rem

COLOR made Master of Magic stand out. Just go play a game of MOM vs Elemental and you'll see what I mean. MUSIC the happy go lucky fanfaire music just kept one playing and playing and playing.... SIMPLE combat rules have mages throw fireballs, clerics heal and dispell undead, shoot arrows with archer units, charge with cavalry, melee types for defense and throw spells with heroes/leaders w/advantages for terrain and remaining on defense. I'd like to see a "turn counter" so these people that are giving you these ideas show just how many turns they've played and state things like the ai doesn't do this or this needs to be added because this happened or didn't happen. I think ideas should come from those who actually have played the game 1000's of turns not 50 as I can see too many people already stating things that would be there in the end game had they played that far. The counter should be Impluse client based stored so they

I'm glad they went to the smaller army sizes as I was a proponent in asking for that many eons ago with good reasoning as I've stated above. Stardock in its infinite wisdom saw the light and removed the twichfest game and brought back the elements of the turn based game which is always best for strategy and tactical g

Because we're playing against AI you need to throw balance out the window for the most part when it concerns the ai. If the game is balanced the ai will never be worth playing against. Those crying for balance are usually multiplayers and you've already stated you wouldn't sacrifice the single player experience for the multiplayer one. Balance has always been an issue in most all PC strategy games and it is what ruins most of them that follow that lie that the game must be balanced. W

It just shows a GOOD reviewer knows how to look past the insignificant things that only pests and trolls try to find in every game.
