Kewl archers should be overpowered. Sounds to me like they are WAD. ;)
I dunno, Zombie Mastery and Ghouls were fun, if you could afford them.
Afford them? Man didn't you ever use the Alchemy trait? Made gold into mana 1 for 1. I always had a ton of gold and with it I could upkeep just about anything. Lycanthrope armies were cheap too. Only needed a spearman to make each wolf. I loved my werewolf armies.
Spell: Summon Mother n Law: Effects: Fear deafness rout The Mother n Law is so powerful she makes the unit crap in his pants thus causing + 1 stink to the unit making it repulsive to those that don't pass the resistance roll causing -1 hp damage to attacker. She also causes Fear (of staying a week) thus making the unit freeze and tremble in its tracks making it immobile for 1 round. She also badgers the unit relentlessly about all the things it hasn't done for her daughter to the poin
On average the AI should indeed be balanced with the player but not in every smallest detail. Some conditions or strategies are terribly hard to "teach" to an AI so it's justifyable to let it cheat to achieve a similiar result.Completely dropping all spell research as ross suggested is extreme but giving the AI some missing low level spells that it "forgot" when it has advanced well past that spell level sounds like a pos
Master of Magic-Over 150 spells (I counted 211, but wasn't sure how many were both combat and non-combat, besides disenchant.
Having a lot of spells is meaningless if you never use them. I used a handful of spells in MOM and never even thought about the others. All you really needed was Confusion and Counter Magic anyways. ;)) Ones I can remember are enchant weapons, Flying, summon ghouls, summon lycanthropes, summon sky drakes, phantom warriors, shadow warrior
Players shouldn't mod until the game is finished. But, if you simply have to have mods you should be bright enough to make TWO different folders for the game. One always remains the vanilla version and the other the modded version. I've done this with all the Total War games so I always have a perfect unmodded uncorrupted game installed to fall back on when things fk up as they will with version 1.1 and mods for this game.
+ Fixed a bug where the AI spellcasters would cast spells that they hadn't learned yet, caused problem that we saw where the AI sovereigns would have stone giants, minions, basically many summons early in the gameWhy? Don't remove things that makes the ai stronger as I like the idea of the AI getting stronger summons in the early and mid game. At least keep this in if players want to play on higher difficulty levels This
I am reporting this before the release just so we all understand and can fix it. The insta-train spell is way overpowered in the late game scenarios i have been running in my head. Think about the best company of heavily armored claymore toting SOBs being trained in 1 turn as opposed to 135. Is that really what we want? Why would I use magic for anything else? Which one of you rascals slipped that in? &nbs
So where is the FIX for being able to use practically UNLIMITED artifacts like RINGS & THINGS?
+ Removed Morale
Good as I've found in most games removing or turning off morale makes the AI play a better game and damaging my armies much better without running away at the drop of a hat like in the Total War games.
I think that if you destroy a faction, any cities of yours that they owned should be returned...
Too bad YOU think that way I think they should all be RAZED as that is what I would do if I were being defeated by someone. I'd leave them NOTHING...NOTHING NOTHING I tell you. I'd burn every town every village and kill every villager and townsfolk. muahahahahahahah So, the game plays well and realistically as it should. impo
Screw sanitation and screw city builders. This is a STRATEGY FANTASY WARGAME you IGMO's. We don't need no stinkin (pun intended) toilets or sewers or wastewater treatment plants in this game. If you want that CRAP go play SIM CITY any edition. That's the problem with a LOT of games today they try to put TOO MUCH MICROMANGEMENT into them and they become dull and boring. I want to play the good stuff. Creating armies and fighting battles and discovering hidden treasure....that's a STRATEGY FANT
I've been playing Master of Magic 1.04H to bide the time until 1.1 arrives so no hurry as the AI is a lot more challenging now.
If I recall it took TWO expansions and a lot of patching to get Galactic Civ 2 to what it is today so I really expect no less for Elemental. I just know it's going to be a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG journey to that point. So even if 1.1 is underwhelming it's the start of the race and there will be lots of curves and wrecks and pitstops along the way so quit worrying about it and just get in Danica Patricks pants I mean car car I said car!!
Deep or Big I all for an AI like one of them ;)) Give me/us an ai that will make us cry and whine and scream because it's so HARD not because it's lame and so easy on its hardest difficulty.
Quoting Sinzer, reply 80 Stuff Ya I don't rush out pioineers out of cities as fast as possible and I rarely build military units. My playstyle is more based on enjoying the roleplay/empire simulation feel than to rush to victory. I'll tell you this... if they decide to balance it so that one must rush everything to even be viable in playing then i'll be among the multitudes complaining about
You can play the game without installing Impulse but you will not get any patches/updates from the origional boxed version. So, basically if you want to play the most recent version of Elemental you'll HAVE to install Impulse and USE IT to get your patches/updates. It's really a no brainer as it isn't intrusive like a Steam client. It's just a protection service from piracy nothing more really, but, you can use it as a storage device for all your games you buy from Stardock. Once you'
NO! We do not want kickass heroes. I've been playing a new game called Guardians of Graxia and that game shows well how heroes should be built and how powerful they should be. It's a game that you can lose your hero/guardian easily enough if you don't take care of it but it's still powerful enough to do a lot more damage than regular troups. It has specials and bonuses for each turn. Perfect example of how heroes should be in any game. So I really hope Brad et all don't go rev
I don't agree as I like lots of cities in my games. It was possible in MOM though there was a 3 square rule which was fair and I enjoy MOM very much. So, continue with the large amounts of cities on the map and be sure the AI continues to spam/build them also. I don't want to have to play with a handful of cities as that gets boring. In all the Civilization, Alpha Centauri, GalCiv2 and Master of Magic I always have tons of cities to play with. I get settlers out as fast as I can. Heck I even
The first AOW was definitely the best one for all around game and challenge. It didn't come with a random map or scenario generator though and that put it far down on the list. Finally when AOW:SM came there was a random generator but sadly they had changed the mechanics of the game and the ai is terrible compared to the first one. They took away options that made the first one great also like being able to take your leader/wizard off the map and playing a game of conquer the entire map. The
If only AOWSM had someone like Brad doing the AI. It's also too bad you couldn't get Reactor and AOWSM MP working together, that would have been nice also (but most likely impossible) I really wonder now what would happen if Stardock and Triumph worked together on AOWIII using the Elemental Engine with Brad doing the AI.
It wouldn't be AOW III it would be Elemental II.
Civ V and Elemental are really too different to compare.
They are? Let's see how really different they are? 1. They both start out with a unit to settle the first city? yep sure do sovereign in Ele and Settler in Civ 2. They both build settler/pioneer type units to create new cities? yep sure do. 3. They both research new technologies to increase their power? yep sure do. 4. They both build new structures based on new technologies and dis
One question though Brad how can you consider this game a commercial disaster when you've already sold 80,000 copies? I bet Matrixgames would love to sell 80,000 copies of something. Plus I'll betcha a plug nickel right now once you get the game up to par that word of mouth will increase sales even more. Of course I already tell people how great it is. ;)) My real only request is that you add some bright colors to the map and characters as it's just too gothic dark right now. It's like it's w
Heroes of might & magic 3&4 i think it was 3 w/expansion that was one of the better ones i think 5 blows
Actually it was version 4 that blows and that's when they got bought out not the 5 version. Plus it was versions II & III that are the best not 3&4. I personally like version II the best I like the large graphics and I like the way you can setup the AI before the game starts. Many different settings instead of just a handful of diffuclty levels like I
but there is nothing "war-game" about Kings or HoMM.
Well that's your opinion and not agreed upon by the majority of players. It has a very wargamey feel to it. Tactical battles and spell casting during just like a Master of Magic game. I guess you want to say it's not wargamey either? The war is taking over the world map, there are battles to do this. Just like any war there is a strategic purpose and a tactical one and HOMM and Kings has both.

I grew up using keyboard only or joystick and keyboard so it's no issue for me. But, todays gamer is a LAZY gamer and doesn't want to use the keyboard anymore except for hotke
