The Gini Coefficient measures income inequality. A Gini coefficient of zero expresses perfect equality, for example, where everyone has an exactly equal income. A Gini coefficient of one expresses maximal inequ

Check out this great video on the Chinese housing bubble. I have heard the same thing from multiple other sources but this is the best intro to the topic. It discusses why many believe there to be a huge real estate bubble in China. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50142079n Here is a similar article if you don't like video. <a href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonchang/2013/03/03/chinas-proper

Automation is simply the latest in a long trend of productivity gains. The whole robots are taking our jobs and increasing inequality thing is a myth. To understand what is really happening you have to understand several economic forces. No matter how many computers or robots you put in a factory you are not eliminating jobs you are increasing worker productivity. That factory will still employee people like technicians and line supervisors. Technology simply allows people to do more

No one distributes wealth. It is created naturally in an economy, unless of course government intervenes using violence. This video doesn't really shock me. While I don't like income inequality I know why it exists. If you make billions of dollars it's because you have the skills necessary to do so and few people have those skills. Not that life is fair and connections and politics don't matter. In a sense investing and fi

The only social platform in the last election was the Conservatives pledge to get tougher on crime, so why are the Liberals and Conservatives both so authoritative on that chart? Both parties

I see your guys point. I guess I was only viewing the question from economic theory point of view, which most people wouldn't see it as.
This is one of the most relevant questions on the survey. As an economics student you hopefully will come to realize that. It's the fundamental question in central banking and the core tension between Keynes and Friedman or, more broadly, between the left and right economic views of the world before you get into the extremes at either end. A persons answer to that question reveals a lot about how they think of economics and gov

This apparently puts me closer to Milton Friedman then anyone else. Not surprising really since I'm an economics student. There are some weird questions on this test, that don't seem to have much to do with anything... "Our race has many superior qualities, compared

I always thought a system where instead of granting prone resistance mounts would be unequipped for the rest of combat if a unit was knocked prone would be interesting. That would create a lot of counters to mounts, and it would be fun. You would be able to knock opponents off their mounts and continue fighting. It would also add some depth because it would penalize super heavy mounted units the most.

While I agree with a lot of things said in this thread, the following statement is just plain ignorant.
I’m discussing how the basic principal of Capitalism has failed us: Competition in a free market.
As I said before anyone with basic knowledge of economics will tell you that internet companies don't operate in a competitive market. Secondly, as every country in the world is aware of this they highly regulate this sector. Everyone here is disc

See this is the problem with tile yields. That's my start and I have nowhere to settle. The Essence and Materials are crowding out the Grain. There is too much crowding out in general especially near woods which are usually either totally unsettleble or 2,5,0. I don't see any high material tiles with essence ever.

Unit design has a lot of problems but by far the biggest is that early game the Axe is on the same upgrade path as knives and swords. This makes it impossible to design early game units with knives, as if you want them to upgrade it gives them axes instead. They are not the same. Knives and swords increase initiative and have counterattack. Axes decrease it and have backswing. Not being able to design early game high inaitive units sucks. There are so many things you cannot do because of this

In my game magical staffs don't appear to upgrade anymore on designed units. If you click the upgrade button in unit design it selects nothing. The AI also built a conclave in a spot with no essence. That should never happen.
