Most of this sounds good, but not being able to add wildlands is a big bummer. Like quests, this is one area where modders could really make this game shine, even without any other rule changes. Do you know if it's possible to change the behaviour of monster lairs? So they could grow over time for instance, or send out raiding parties?
Honestly I prefer the system as it is currently. It is much more elegent and requires less micromanagement. There is also less potential for abuse and fewer 'minor balance' issues that will constantly require tweaking as new means of abusing this type of system become apparent.
I guess we have different opinions on what is elegant. The division into different types of citizens allows for both subtle and not-so-subtle changes in ci
@Heavenfall; That's what it looks like, but I don't think it's better. With the current system you have to build that building if you want the city to grow, and many more like it. They're not very interesting to build, you usually build one in every city anyway, and contribute to the bloated cities. Lets remove them and only give you things to build that are actually interesting.
Added a bit about reducing micromanagement and cheese.
snippy. snippy. i just suggested that you ask about that feature in a different thread. then we could have a discussion about whether it mattered or not without being so rudely interrupted by people talking about the subject of this thread.
Sorry I over reacted a bit. Long day and all. Still, it seems to tie into what we were discussing. But I followed your suggestion and started a thread: https://foru
Like the title says, what happened to the farmers/craftsmen/peasants/malcontents division that was talked about a while back? I just realised it wasn't in the game when discussing city building in this thread . I remembered seeing a screenshot that showed this system recently, in the 'welcome to the first public beta' thread. This is the screenshot I mean: <img src="http://www.draginol.com/images/Welcome-to-the-first-pub
ZehDon's idea: building harmony, where similar purpose buildings work better together. Very cool, very feng shui. (As long as there were UI hints when placing builds which tiles were beneficial and which were bad.) It's also interesting because you could make subtle changes in the harmonies for the races. Which would give cities built by different races a different look.
That's just an
Sounds good [e digicons][/e]
Edit3: The point here is NOT to swamp the user with twenty more buildings that make you go SIGH, even more to place. These options would REPLACE current improvements. So instead of 8 buildings that increase food from grain, you have 2 or 3 and get something else from this list instead.
This I strongly agree with. The whole 'grain becomes food' mechanic is a nice idea, but with all these '+x food f
I'm with Sir_Linque and LightofAbraxas on this one. Even 9 tiles is way too big imo, but if only one or two cities got that big in a long game I could live with it I guess.
After the tutorial crashed on me I decided to just start a sandbox game and learn as I go. I picked Capitar as my faction, medium world with a balanced(iirc) distribution, and three empires and two other kingdoms. Starting position was good enough, on a narrow but green stretch of coast next to a mountain range, with sites for an orchard, grain farm, and air shard directly next to me. Both to the north and to the south I could just see a hero waiting to be recruited. Started building
No, that wasn't the problem. The file that you download has to be extracted first. When that is done you can set an intallation location, but the initial extracting is done on the c drive.
I realy don't understand why Frogboy likes draging the map so much. Seems to me you have to do more movements to get the same result, and you have the risk of accidentally clicking on something you didn't want to click on...
Got it installed, finaly. Looks good so far, but already had my first ctd. Will see if it's repeatable in a while.
Grmbl, figured it out, it tries to exctract to my c drive, which has about 1 Gb free space. Cleaned it up, 2,1 Gb, still not enough to get past 93% @$#&% [e digicons]XO[/e] Why can't I choose to extract it to my other drive that has tens of Gb's of free space....
[e digicons]>:([/e] Nothing is happening. Downloaded it in 10 minutes, but when I open the file it starts extracting and then just closes at nearly 40% Anyone have a clue why?
That is just bullshit. I'm from the Netherlands, and although there certainly are some things wrong in our legal system, but the picture that is painted on that site is more than a caricature than anything else. Besides, I really hope you're not criticizing because you think the American justice system is the pinnacle of perfection?
So, as I’ve written before, you’ve become a commodity.
Yay for capitalism!
Sounds great, I really like the area of control in combat, something people have been asking for for a while [e digicons][/e]
Keep in mind that Italy doesn't enjoy the same assumption of innocence (innocent until proven guilty) that Americans take for granted.
Don't be rediculous, that principle is observed just about everywhere in the western world, not just in the usa.
Apparently it is a crime in Italy for a captain (and the first officer as well btw) to abandon his ship so soon, long before all the passengers and other crew members were evacuated. So unless his rather ridiculous sounding claim of 'falling into the lifeboat and not being able to get back on board' miraculously turns out to be true, he's in a lot of trouble. And there still is the fact that he let the ship get way to close to the island.
Would also like this, the site is painfully slow on my mobile, I can't post replies, and very annoying; when I open a topic it is locked in position at the top of the site. So I can't scroll down untill I zoom in, even if it's just fraction. Makes using the 'go to last read reply' button useless, as it just shoot back to the top.
I enjoy building stuff (if it is done well), and have done so manually in every turn based game. Because of that your No3 I don't agree with. Having options to automatize building stuff is good, but we should be able to do everything manually if we so feel even if we have 100 cities (and that doing so can give a slight edge).
Don't get me wrong, I'm a builder too, and I'm certainly not advocating automating
However: We absolutely want to reduce the number of city improvements in the game. Fewer, more interesting city improvements is the goal so feel free to suggest how we can consolidate what we have to improve on city differentiation.
This I can only applaud. I really hated how cities became huge map covering blobs in EWoM, and I was sad to see it was carried over into FE. Having to keep building certain buildings over and over didn't help
