Ok, land of legends or Plane of Rusty nails. Can someone other than me check the starting locations in the fixed versions floating around the llama map browser? Otherwise just vote on wrap around or not, I don't care either way :)

By the way... Plane of Rusty Nails looks like a well sized map for those who want more room. There's also a 9 player fixed start version available which is probably pretty close for what we'd want, though somewhere would have a gap. Ahh, so it will :) So now the question is, which map? Do you have time/interest to relook at the starts on this one wonderloss? Then you'd have to send up the .map file. Otherwise it will take me til tonight to get to putting in a new map.

So I 'unstarted' the game. However, I cannot change the map file. We have 2 choices now. Restart and hope the positions are groovy. Delete the game, and remake a new one with a new map, or a fixed map.

Yeah, I wasn't really talking about you in this game, just used Niefel as a likely rush nation, there are others (though not too bad in this line up). I checked both the maps I suggested, and they are fine. Stream Lands has a couple starts with only 3 between them, but most are 4, and the 3 only if you know where you are going ;) Land of Legends has mostly 5 or 6 with a couple at 4, but someone would have to fix the star

Dawn of Dominions is *NOT* balanced, especially without the full set of expected nations. I would not suggest it for this game. Either of the two I suggested would work. One being a bit smaller, but with balanced starting locations (made for another 8 player game), the other being a bit larger, but again, with what should be reasonable starting locations. no no, you are free to give up whatever information you desire ;) As you noted, it's not always wise, but it's your call. Are you sure it's 2 provinces on the map and not just in number? How can you tell you are 2 provinces away from each other? There is no dominion outside of the cap yet, and unless you have shared starting provinces (usually a bad idea, but anyway) there's no way to know. Now it's possible you do know this, and it's possible that wonderloss made a mistake in assigning starting locations. I guess he can confirm it, or explain it, or whatever. I don't see anything in that change log which would have ramifications to this game. But if it comes in the next couple days I don't mind restarting. Otherwise you can upgrade mid game, just have to be sure everyone patches between the same turns. Man, I hope not contact that soon. Unless both players are rushing at each other. Turn 1 you usually don't attack anything, unless you took an out of the box SC, and most nations only have one expansion army for the first 5+ turns, depending on what kind of indies you are up against. I wouldn't worry about super early contact though, wonderloss vetted the map starting locations, so hopefully it's not the issue it was in the other game.

I think llama does, but really there are not usually issues with the server. From my past experience with it anyway. Well clearly he's having issues now, but it's his ISP or telecom or whatever, not the server per se. Anyway, don't worry until the first turn :) Get the pretender file in (*cough*Marverni*cough*) and we'll be off and running I hope.

llama is back up! If you got a bunch of 'invalid pretender file' emails back I think you're ok, so long as the last email you got was 'revised pretender file'. Anyway, we'll see when we start! Just waiting on one more pretender. If it bonks we'll just restart, so don't worry. Remember your pretender has to be made with NO MODS active.
