Hey Frogster, I got a thought. How about compiling all this into a PDF file with pics and explanations for us to download? Maybe include some of the posts Folcik has made as well and a few other posts in the modding section of the forums. It would be great as a "Beginners Guide". Also include a list of the locations of relevant files that are the most common that people will be modding. Anyway, GREAT WORK. I'm really looking forward to more Modding Tutorials and to modding Elemental.
Well, I just tried to go into a battle and it didn't give me the option for tactical battle. I have the latest version.
Did you set the "Threshold" down in the "Options"? It defaults to 4 but I turn it down to 1 so I'm guaranteed the choice in every encounter whether or not to do a tactical battle.
That is Awesome, my friend. Well done indeed. I knew it would be doable in XML but I didn't know if it would work or not until they enabled custom factions. Now we know. I know what I'm doing next.... [e digicons]k1[/e] To you brother!!
That's it, BACK TO THE STORE!
LoL Seriously though, anyone who would want a refund for Elemental would be a dumbass in my book. You guys did an Amazing job here. :)
LoL...if you do that make a video of it. That would be a riot...RofL. I can see it now.... Frogboy: "Hi, I'd like a refund on this crap game you sold me please." Gamestop kid: "Umm, aren't you Brad Wardell? Hey, your company made this game!!!" Frogboy: "Which is why I want a refund!!! It's a tax write off!!!" :P
What second update? I just checked and there's no updates available. I just tried a tactical battle and it wouldn't do anything.
There's a second update. Check again. Frogboy mentions it at the top of this thread. Edit: Ok, the yellow text at the top of the page is gone. Frogboy stole it!!! LoL. There is a second update that fixes the battles and it fixed the cursor for me in the editor. Just
Really? Have a look at cavalry in the distance in empire, at max settings (on a 285) they look really bad.
Oooohh, you're talking about the 3D/2D sprite change that occurs when you scroll back and units are off in the distance. I thought you were talking about buildings or trees or the environment or something. You can disable the 3D/2D change as well but you have to do it in the ".ini" file manually. As for eng

Try the + and - on the number pad (assuming you have a number pad). I am playing on a laptop, and the + and - buttons aren't working for me either. I've even tried using control, shift, tab, etc. in conjunction with the + and - b
It all looked rendered to me, because the distant objects don't degrade into horrid pieces of crap like all TW games do lmao. A thing I've think people do lately is rather than setup max or something with in game assets to render they have a special mode of their game which renders to file (a movie) at stupid resolutions with full detail on all objects. Maybe something like that?
The distance rend
Try the + and - on the number pad (assuming you have a number pad).
Tried that and it didn't work. Just applied the second update and hitting those keys works now. Odd, but it's working now :) Thanks.
The black screen is a data-loading issue. If all your data is loaded, it'll start instantly...we need a better buffer there so poeple dont think the game has hung.<br
Oh man this will be the most amazing TW game yet, that's for sure.. that new video was jaw dropping.
Sh!t yeah it was. Honestly it took a lot to think that was all actual in game footage. Granted I've seen them do some impressive things, like the water effects in Empire, but that was almost too good to be true. When the boats were sailing and it first showed them and the waterline, and then when the samurai are sitt
I've got Complete and Total faith that Shogun 2 is going to kic Serious Ass!!! Should be the best one in the series yet. They boosted the amount of units you control from 20 to 30 for starters and for once the AI will be able to handle putting troops on boats and launching invasions (a common problem that has plagued them with Every game at launch). I also saw some new art work for the game that showed Ninjas, so...Ninjas are IN!!! Can't wait.
@ Frogboy: If you don't feel like reading the post I summed it up with some numbered questions. Thanks :) Incredibly Awesome!!! This is some Great Stuff right here :) . I have to say I'm impressed. The only thing I'm not too stoked about is the "Large" Map setting still seems too small. Is that going to get any bigger between now and release? Is that as big as it can go without 64Bit support? It's going to be really challenging to fit Krynn into a map that size. I was really hoping fo
You know, Blizzard had the golden opportunity here to end the threat of North Korea nuking everyone and they didn't take it. All they would have had to do was "accidentally" send all of South Korea's copies of SC 2 to North Korea, then tell the South Koreans that if they wanted their copies of SC 2 they'd have to kill the North Koreans to get them. It would take about 48 hours for the South Koreans to Zerg Rush the North and take it over...LoL.
Personally though, I don't really need to buy maps since im not korean.
RofL...nice. Too bad they'll probably end up charging everyone for Map Packs though no matter what country they're from.
110.43 MB's. Nice Big update :) Downloading now....WoooHoooo.
I meant premature as in asking for people to volunteer to convert stuff. That kind of required the converter, which we won't have for at least another month or so . We don't even know what modelling software besides 3DS Max and Maya can be used yet. Until you actually know for sure whether you can get your models in game or not, I think it's premature to ask for help doing so.
Hmm, ok, I'll give you that one. . . .
Nice :). With that one Worm swinging around like that I can see a ton of "Spider-Man Worm Mods" coming out already.
RavenX, I'm pretty positive from just watching vids of Brad doing modding that once you have the model made, and say you were working on tile creation.. building some tile for the world, you could then access the library of models and just "Add" that model to the tile and adjust it, and there you would be able to see how it looks. Think of it like the Ogre camp he designed. He picked the pieces that he wanted, of which includ
Only if they reduce the Build time of Pio's back again. 10 Turns seems like a lifetime early on...
I'd have to agree there as well, especially since the unit is consumed once you build something with it (or at least it's ability to build is).
Quoting Kholai, reply 36 Basic human sociology experiments have proven that, whilst initially offering a reward encourages performance of a behavior, once that reward has been offered the human mind ceases to think of an activity as enjoyable, and begins on some level to think of it as "work". I think that depends on the individual. Some people might find modding intrinsicall

I t was said that owning 3DS or Maya was not going to be required, but that doesn't mean they will have a converter, but one can hope. It was in some dev journal a while back. Also, one of the devs confirmed it in the IRC c
