@the_Monk This has already been stated by others but what the hell, I'll give it another go. Mainly the people complaining aren't complaining about DRM in theory or a companies right to protect their shit. Everyone agrees intellectual property should be protected and the people who make it should get paid. Even Hard-Core Pirates accept that. Even the most Hard-Core, Money Grubbing, Miser of a thief, in the world doesn't want to see the game makers shut down or go out of b
Looks like they're simply using it as DRM and a method of control.
You expected them to do otherwise? ....come on now, Don, I know you're smarter then that. They like to say they'll be able to add all kinds of "New Features" to lure people in. Live Video Chat, savegames anywhere you play from etc etc, but the first idea they had was "MWhahaha Now I Own YOU, if you want to keep playing you'll PAY FOREVER!!! MW

This years Earthday Birthday concert in Orlando, known as "Almost Legal" was a Amazing!!! The band line-up was truly Awesome. A little over 20,000 people attended this year. My wife and I went with four of our close friends to enjoy the music and have a good time. I've been to every Earthday Birthday concert except for 3 in the course of the event's history. This year's was by far one of the best. We got Lots of pictures and I even managed to record a video that's a few seconds long. I'll lis

I just got back from taking my wife and some friends to the new "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie. It was pretty good I think. My wife was actually scared, then again she scares easy...lol. If I can find one cheap I might pick up a Freddy mask and glove and give her a scare one night soon...hehe. I thought they could have went into Freddy's background a bit more and I think the movie should have been longer over-all. Plenty of blood and gore though. Sadly, Freddy didn't get "creative" w
Just edit it using notepad or any other plain text editor. Aesir is correct. You can use any plain text editor to edit XML files. There are some editors like Notepad+ and XMLMind that are syntax-aware editors and can be easier to use if you need to code XML tags and are new to it, but for creating these characters it's not necessary. That's awesome as hell!!! I'll be making mine tonight when I get back from the show :). I'll have it sent in no later then Tuesday. Question, is it Ok to have a space in the name? I'd like to name mine "Raven Xavier" and not "Raven X". Frogboy, how about you give us a number limit on how many skill points we can use on these guys. I don't want to make one that's over-powered, but I don't want to make a total wimp either.
I have to say I disagree with the OP's post. I want fully fleshed out lore and races/factions and not necessarily a focus on customization. I do support a race/faction editor, but that should not be the dev's focus right now. Taking GalCiv II as an example, I made one custom human faction based on my playing strategies, but I was always playing against the original factions. I find putting custom r
You don't sound like an ass except for mentioning it, but neither do you sound like a practical business owner, and I suspect that business goals are almost as important to this Stardock project as is the dev team's love of the fantasy TBS genre and their ambition to break new ground by mixing in 'just the right' computer RPG elements. OK, maybe I wouldn't have thought "asshat" without your wording, but after a couple of reads

I'm going to a concert tomorrow being put on by one of Orlando's radio stations. It's called Earthday Birthday 17 "Almost Legal". There's going to be a lot of killer bands there. Here's the Line-Up. Line-Up: Korn | <a name="&lid=Papa Roach&lpos=bottomnav" href="http://www.earthdaybirthday17.com/iplaylist/artist/425513/?_show" target="

Dark, what kinds of programming experience do you have? Interested in helping out on the Dragonlance Mod? That's an excellent example by the way. That's exactly what I mean. All those animations are exactly the same. They didn't program those individually, they programmed one and applied it to all the wire-frames. Well done indeed pointing that out.
But see, you have to take into account the demographic. If Stardock were making a game meant solely to appeal to the people that are likely to frequent these forums or participate in the beta, then it would come out much, much differently. The people on these forums are typically going to be much more... let's say "aggressive" about the game. We will probably on average use many more mods and customize our games to a significantly highe
To further continue my reply (171) above, I think part of the confusion comes from the fact that Frogboy asks us to choose between two options: either more work on the core factions, or more work on the customization options. But, included inside the first option is the statement that this would mean taking out the race differences from the factions. In fact, this is a bit extreme, since if we chose to go for option 1 and give less e

Optional mortal sovereigns, with children taking over. Once this code is done, it's only a hop, skip, and a jump to making a system similar to the one you described.
I am all for as much race customization as possible, but the way I see it, if Elemental goes this way I think we'll be disappointed. The problem is that a "race editor" with "body parts"like building blocks will probably not make good-looking creatures. And it certainly not will make creatures made with "soul", that feels right, done with art skills and some class. I would hate if the races would be downgraded to a spore-like
