I'm with nrich61. I have played galciv2 off and on for years. With the expansions it is a good game. But Distant worlds is very engaging on a whole different level - and from me thats a lot - because I don't like RTS games. (OK, i'm older - and the nimble fingers are ancient history.) While I don't use 'cheats' when I am playing games. The AI is usually already sufficiently at a loss when playing 'fuzzy logic' brains like humans (usually) have. I really don't know if developers leave them in because they don't know fore sure that the current expansion (whatever it happens to be) is really the 'last' expansion. One option i like is the idea of allowing the user to give a mobile unit a route to patrol. Go to point "b" and then come back to location "a." Repeat. Stop and notify user when enemy unit appears with tiles of said unit. The other way to do this would be to allow user to create 'groupings' of mobile units. Hi Arc ele... I, too, have never modded. I would be interested in some very specific projects, for oblivion, (specific long quests...), distant worlds (Babylon 5 mod, universe) and in Elemental War of magic. I'm just not sure how long to wait as the Elemental engine, etc., keeps changing. What would be nice, re; elemental, would be a basic guide to modding, and links to appropriate tools. having done a few searches, there still seems to be

Just started playing DW. Been thru the tutorials twice, and studied the boards. Played a couple of short games. Still getting the hang of it - but it is really a good game - when you customize it the way you like.

Took about 12 hours. Seems the net installer that comes with the game clashes with NET as installed. Found a tool (link from Matrix forum) that "cleans' Net. Then did a reinstall, and all seems OK with Distant Worlds. Matrix really should put a note about this issue - with the link, right in the download with the game... So, please ignore above post ^ I think its addressed.

Distant worlds has some MAJOR BUGS. I can't even play it. I downloaded dist worlds fine. Install OK, net, c++ all seem OK. Open start button. Box comes up, "play game, update, etc. Hit play game, new box, with yellow messages at bottom,"feeding giant K..., refueling pirates, nebulae, etc. Then game CTD, with window about c++ module failed to load during appdomain yadayada I have Uninstall 2x (via add remove programs) and re d-l, install, with check for net, etc., on.
