Your sov daughters marry and go to other Sov's control. And yes, the Sov will have all sorts of great equipment, if given enough time. But spouses don't change, at all, in my games, so far. The trade off, I guess is, give them the best equipment you can - and maybe they will survive. If they survive, you may get grandkids, and some of them may join you. Downside is you may find yourself at war with that sov, and find your daughter facing you across the battlefield. &nb
This is a wonderful conversation that revealed to me a great deal about how gamers and publishers / developers view (and 'game') the various polls, and 'best of' type lists. I learned a lot. Thank you all. Now, I have a question. How can we users / consumers/ players get the people who make those list add a few new categories, like Most improved FRP game from last year? etc etc. You get the idea, even if i haven't presented it totally clear
^ agree with all the above. (including my post! SMILE!!)
Perhaps a 'backstory' for major SOV characteristics might be written. The green thumb item comes with a bonus. Would it be nice to have a backstory related to being a green thumb ADDED to the background for any sovereign that chose that item? Sort of a mix and match that builds the full background story, out of various paragraphs, for each sovereign, based on the sovereign picks (and associated paragraphs) at customization / creation. BTW, I agree the
Doesn't windows come with a firewall? My Xp says the firewall is 'up.' Am I missing something?
jafo, thanks for the memory jogger on Phillip Dick's novel. I read it many years ago, but had forgotten the author's name. My post was intending to ask the question, via " --->" The short story came first, (excellent story IMHO), and Hollywood adapted it for the screen in the movie "Bladerunner." With Hollywood redoing all the old classics, (True Grit, OMG!!!!!!) WHAT will be the next 'incarnation' of Disk's story, and its adaption to th
"Do androids dream of electric sheep?" (Short story) ---> Bladerunner (movie) ---> ????
Ok, I've checked the boards, and looked into the patches they have made for DWs... I t may be my one present to my self this new years. I've done a search and not found any 'coupon's for it, although the ordering screen at matrix has a place to enter in a discount code. Does anyone who is already into Distant worlds know where we would find a discount code? Appreciate it... (either way). -e
Yes, and janusk makes a great husband, the kids usually turn out OK.
Lord Xia, congrats.
I tried navies ONCE. Currently, unless playing on a game of islands, its almost pointless. I learn the raise and lower land spells, and creat land paths to where I need to go if water is in the way. caravans don't swim, either...
May everyone, everywhere, and especially here in our little community, have the best new year yet. May the coming year be better than all the years that have preceded it. And may each year to come be better than the one before it. Happy holidays (of whatever flavor). And may the human species grow beyond sectarianism and beyond hording while others suffer. May We come to truly treat all others as people fully human and as precious as we find our most bel
Cool. Thanks!
"Frankly, I think its a little silly that destroyed caravans don't re-spawn themselves, [...] Rebuilding them is boring micromanagement at it's worst, so that should change. It should still hurt to lose caravans though, so maybe re-spawn should take ~10 seasons and monsters that had a juicy caravan for dinner could stay around that trade route knowingly fresh food is on the way." Yes, the monsters and bandits get 'home delivery.' However, I am sur
^ agreed about lack of depth of the backstory, etc. Sounds like a lovely opportunity for the modders among us to take on a new challenge!
wow, this does sound like a 'rts' that isn't a clickfest, so much as a game where the plater can 'automate' many specific units, ships, etc., sort of like giving high level commands to the local commanders, and then the commanders, (friendly AI) attempts to implement the commands? I may go to one of the player discussion boards and see what else. Perhaps there is hope.... (thanks!)
So much of this game looks interesting. But i despise RTS games as they become a test of hand and eye coordination. Perhaps its time to go back to Space Empires IV and V?
Quoting MichaelCook, reply 403 And he's an alien. Who? Tim Minchin or Dylan Moran, or both of them? Probably both of them
I never played final fantasy - could you give us a thumb nail sketch of the salient features of its tac - combat system?
I just had a pioneer and one escort get jumped by 4-5 very fast spiders. I could not get them to escape, no matter what i did. i faught one round, and then, to hasten the inevitable, hit the auto-battle button. Wow, the pioneer and a measly swdman killed all the spiders. Funny, because in the battle, before I hit auto, the swdman was getting hacked pretty bad - looked like a gonner. Is auto messed up, as well?
Hey, naytchSG, what game are you REALLY playing? (smile)
Disband a city requires hitting the x button on the city screen. Supposedly, you must research appropriate techs to do this. But a bug in 1.09 and earlier allowed players to "x' settlements without the tech. Don't know if this is fixed in current version.
Yes, probably similar to the pre - 1.09 affect when you go to certain quest villages and a zone of influence would from around it. Then I could develop a resource time within this zone. But as soon as the quest is finished, the zone dissapears, and so does the 'developed' resource tile. Resources spent on the tile are lost.
"Put that down, you don't know where it's been..." Homeland security checkpoint at airport?
