Prelims differ, but I have had similar hangs in tac battle after the last foe is dead. I hope/expect that the current flat-rate penalty is just a first approximation. Other games either give you was way to assimilate the populations of captured cities (Rome Total-War) or have more or less of a penalty depending on what the different races think of each other (MoM) or even have you replace the conquered population at the start (MoO & MoO2, iirc) or replace them later (AoW:SM). There are a lot of ways, but I don't think I would like a permanent fixed penalty,

Very irritating. I'd much rather fight 1 or 2 huge battles and 10 little ones -- and I've had that many in one spot in .912. The new movement cost makes it a little worse. And it also irritates me that when I left-click on the enemy stack repeatedly it only alternates between showing me 2 of the units instead of cycling thru all of them so I can see how many times I will have to fight. I don't think it could be a planned delaying tactic because it is a ca

The rest of the "champions" series all give a +1-per-level bonus to something, but the vambraces break character by having a flat weight-capacity bonus. It would fit the theme better if they gave +1 per level to something, like weight-capacity, attack, initiative, etc. Maybe even +0.1 to critical chance. (and isn't "weight-capacity" the same as "strength" in the new system ? )
Paragon spell was changed to take hit-points (only) from the sovie instead of costing 3 stats, but the description still says "If any of these stats is 3 or lower this spell cannot be cast". "diplomatic capital" seems to have been renamed "influence", but only half-way. One example: the "refined diplomacy" tech still says it raises "diplomatic capital"
Item 1 sound like a lot of effort to program and debug to set up all those special traits. You could achieve comparable unique-ness with fewer traits by letting many of champs have TWO out of your list of special traits, and not letting any two champs have the same combination. Item 4 sounds good. I like a wide variety of weapons, like good + cheap but hard to research; or good + easy-to-research but expensive. And toss in a few overpriced lemons just to keep us awak

Last I checked my capitol had at least 25 EACH of "Frozen Bones" and "Incinerate City" :( I'm not even trying to dispel them. And, at normal difficulty, I doubt that any of the bad guys can legitimately afford the maintenance.
Agree.
I had 7 or 8 battles defending my capitol in which NONE of the attackers EVER moved. All other battles are normal. The only thing I can think of is that some baddie cast both "frozen bones" and "incinerate city" on my cap. One of those must paralyze attackers (?) In one of those battles I cast "gift of iron" and all my city militia dropped dead ! Some gift :) Also, in about half those battles no city militia even showed up. Seemed to alternate be
I took a city that had 15 defenders actually in the battle, so it sometimes works the way you expected (and I want). I get tired of lots of easy little battles -- give me a big decisive one now & then.
I have to Altairs too. The 2nd was run by Verga, IIRC I first saw him after I had killed him off from his normal faction. And I haven't created any custom Altair sovies in .90 or .91. [edit] Just got to the end of game screen and their were 2 Verga images in the final score listing. 9 factions total, because I was playing a custom Tarth against all 8 regulars, including regular Tarth. Tarth was missing, replaced by the Altair/Verga hybrid.
MUCH more stable than .8x until now. Maybe I was tempting fate by continuing a .90 game under .91 (?) debug.err http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8928343/debug-91.err crash zip http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8928343/FallenEnchantress0_91-2012-04-21T09-21-31-31.zip
Seen this several times too. Build a resource outside a city and later it is unbuilt when my city expands next to it. Very toxic for those of us who are used to gaming .86 by building resources outside the city and outside the build queue, and then snaking to include it and protect against raiders.
Besides storm & pandemonium, the other way I have found is a REALLY strong melee hero with Path of Defender and counterattack. I used the Paragon spell expoit to level someone up to about 70-something, and Abeix was toast. Just let him swing and let the automagic counterattack do its thing. Anyway, you have to do something different than what works elsewhere, with is a nice change-of-pace. I like that they put something like this in somewhere.... now if only they
Yes please.
Me too. Went in with just 1 unit, got Titan-ed 3 whole squares behind the rear edge, couldn't move. Autoresolve won for me -- fortunately my one unit was a powerful caster.
Wanna try something else OP with lots of 2000 extra mana? Give any intelligence enhancing objects you have to your smartest hero and cast Paragon 20+ times :) Then collect another few thousand mana and repeat. Then you don't need spells to stomp the bad guys and you can collect mana even faster. With large map, level 90+ is very doable.
I've tested this and it seems to work as described. Example 1: very smart sovie and dumb champ doing everything together -- sovie slowly pulls ahead in xp actually gained. Example 2: measuring XP gained by paragon spell with two enhancers, or either, or none showed that each of them helped and both together helped more.

Sort-of-related: how about weapon in both hands instead of sword in one and shield in the other. In that case, the 2nd weapon could be short/light/dagger-like.
[quote who="Mistwraithe" reply="55" id="3118896"]I'm very strongly against a hard cap on number of buildings in a city. If I want to build a super city which is much bigger than my others and I have the time/money/production/tech to do it then let me - limiting the player doesn't add to fun in this case. Only being able to initially build in the tiles immediately around the city could still work so long as if they ever get filled up you can then choose to build in the next
