I do my quest scrolls one at a time - save, buy, complete it; save, buy, find it is a dud; reload, buy, etc, etc. I don't think the problem has anything to do with other quest activity because there is nothing quest-related going on. Also, sometimes when I load & re-buy in the same turn, the 2nd scroll works.

The bug from .915 is still here. You can buy scrolls that do nothing, and the more scrolls you have used, the worse it get. I think what happens is: some quests are repeatable and some aren't + it picks a scroll for you randomly whether you have done it or not = chance of getting an non-repeatable quest + dud + waste of money = reload :(
I will always play the largest size I can.

Confimed. Legacy of Serrane in custom faction still bugged.

Same issue here. Trying to run the new beta on a new PC. Installed the .75 full beta & registered ok. Seems to run ok (but haven't tried to get past the main menu because I'm not interested in playing .75). Then got the "software not found" error trying to install the .95 upgrade. Windows update (to get a c++ patch) did not help. The registry entry it points to looks ok to me. I did install to a non-default location "C:\Games\Stardock\
Shogun Total War 1 is the oldest I play regularly. MoM is the oldest I play at all, but not as often. Shogun - yesterday; MoM - January.
Since I last played the beta, I have a new Win-7 64-bit box with much better processor but worse graphics than my old XP mainstay. I'd like to *temporarily* put the new .95 beta on both so I can compare performance & stability, then *probably* go back to playing on the XP box while the new one does other things... ... OK? And do I need to do anything special ??
I've had 11 externals over the years, the only one not alive & kicking now is the one I dropped. But my usage pattern might be different from the OP. All mine are for backups only -- run them as long as it takes to back up what I need, then unplug and put somewhere safe. So overheating is not much of an issue even though some of them run in S. California w/o air-cond. Even my ancient 160 gb usb2 LaCie drives are still good. Samsung x4, Seagate x2
I get along ok with the built-in Win-7 image backups, taking images of both drives. Hint, there is a trick to restore individual files from the images -- it's easy once you know how. Dabbled briefly with EaseUS ToDo free about 10 months ago. It used a file type for its image backups that Windows normally wouldn't recognize, but added two startup items that let the computer read them. Mess with those two startups and you system will not boot, except (if you ar
Apple IIe. A mistake which I unloaded after 6 months & got a Tandy 1000 (also possibly a mistake). But by that time I already had 4 years of professional programming on "big" computers, first an HP3000 Series 3. Does that count? Certainly programming it was more fun than anything I could do with the Apple.
Thanks to all for the suggestions. I went ahead and ordered this morning, but not exactly what I planned before. HD: I wimped out on the SSD & went for 2 spinners. Like idea of separate boot & data drives and have done it before. Boot drive doesn't need to be huge but smaller drives aren't much cheaper than terabyte drives, so I went with two of the 5-year-warranty WD Caviar Black. Case: Silverstone PS07B. I (gasp) DROVE to a STORE
I think OP has a legit concern. Like his suggestion #1 on how to fix. Mixed feelings on 2; un-enthused about 3 & 4. Want item forging (5), but not for that reason. But what about hero buffs like "destiny's gift" and "destiny's insight" -- would it help if they could be cast on the sovie? They both seem overpriced/underpowered to me now, and they could use something to make them more useful. And sovies won't be the strongest units in my a
Same here.
Would like comments... long-term build-to-order customer but 1st-time builder. Besides light gaming (like FE beta) the main application will probably be dvr software so I can record over-the-air broadcasts of channels that can't record on cable because the cable co botches the schedule/listing or doesn't even carry. It will probably be on 24x7, so idle power consumption is a concern. Other priorities are USB3, Sata 3 6Gb/s, durability+reliability. Plan to run it for years.
Just had 2 run-thru of a fight which hung early on when a bad-guy militia wouldn't do anything on his turn. Sequence: save, cast paragon, attack city, hang, win but suffer losses, reload, repeat debug.err from the repeat https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8928343/debug-hang.err save game https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8928343/hang.EleSav
Haven't tested for a while, but it used to reduce sovie's HP UNLESS he had one of the traits that increase HP, like the one that adds one HP per level. I guess what happens behind the scenes is that Paragon reduces HP but the other HP-related traits push it back up to the minimum they determine. I think this is ok.
I've seen 1, 5 & 8 a lot & 3 some. Quite annoying. 7 is because you have an adventurer's guild, which reduces cost of hiring. They really need to stop that from driving costs negative. In the meantime, burn it down.
Agree with 1, 3 & 6. 3: We really need an easier way to have units leave a city together, without losing group bonuses from Tireless March. 7: Have you tried the left-click drag scroll ?
1: Sieges aren't my top priority, but otherwise agree with OP. 2: I have doubts. Liked the alternate planes / reverse-side-of-the-world in MoM and AoW:SM. DON'T like caves & dungeon-crawling in general. 3: Some kind of boats would be nice, but not top priority. I'd be more interesting in better economic use for coastal squares, like fisheries & harbors. 4:Crafting was one of my favorite parts of MoM & AoW:SM, so it was high on
Hmmm, I've repeated the Haitan & disciple quests in my current campaign.... It's been slightly over 50% duds in my current campaign, including 3 duds in a row. Have tentatively changed my mind about location being a factor. Seems to be getting worse. How sure is everyone that it is from repeats instead of just quests that are flat-out broken even the first time?
Playing custom faction with the trait that lets you buy quest scrolls.... sometimes when I buy one it's a dud -- when I move onto the quest square nothing happens. Exiting & reloading after using the scroll doesn't help. Re-loading before I buy sometimes helps but not in the case below. Moving to another square before I use the scroll usually helps. sequence: save game buy scroll use it move to the dud
