The bit in the dev journal a while back about spinning off parts of your territory as vassal/allies got me thinking -- lack of vassals was one of my main gripes im some other games. Presumably vassals are almost like alles, but the vassal automatically votes for the overlord in any vote to determine planetary ruler, and his territory counts as part of the overlord's for determining when the overlord has enough to end the game. Also, probably the vassal is automatically at war w

Me. I've tried left&right clicking on the thingies in the corners, etc. Always just nothing except a circle thru which I see the part of the background that I would see anyway.
Agree with Espio
Example, on turn 1, with just the starting tech, you can design a new unit that will be a LOT better than the starting "basic guard". Granted the better unit will take longer to build, but it will have the same maintenance cost, so the economics only make sense to bypass the built-in units, and always make your own. I think that would be a pain, so I vote for good-enough built-on units so we don't have to build all our own. Personally, I got tired of designing ships in Gal
Do something. I could live with most of the suggestions above better than I could live with forgetting to research for several turns.
In the city building screen... I find the pop-up building names a bit annoying. Better if they could just always show the name. There would be room for the name (and for bigger pictures of the building) if they moved the list to one side of the screen and moved the city map off-center to the other side -- especially on wide-screen monitors. This shouldn't be too hard for them -- its what GalCiv2 does :) Also, I'm not in love with
A big part of WoM will (I hope) be insanely powerful heros who can zap a enemy unit with a single thunderbolt. So even if they tried to make battles like in Total War, it wouldn't play out that way. I agree with what pigeon said about the emotional involvement we might feel in TW-like combat with any enemy dragon bearing down on us. But I really, really agree with what others said about TW battles taking too long and getting boring. And I agree with Demiansky that MOM battles are still fun
The "debug.err" files I have sent them include lots of what looks to me lke references to memory leaks. I *think* by now they have mountains of evidence to help them track them down. Here's the last several lines of my current file, presumably written just before it crashed. DebugMessage: Not all memory has been freed from memory system AStar. DebugMessage: 37908 bytes of memory still allocated. DebugMessage: Unallocated Mem: 129 bytes of memory from line 218 of F:\Projects\Ku
But somebody was obviously having fun with the "fork" in the river :)
"after selecting one city or one army youcan use page-up and page-down keys to scroll between them (however it feels a little buggy here too.)" Yes, it definitely skips some of my cities (at least once I have 6 or 7). -------------- "they are probably already in the pipeline for a later Beta as they are pretty basic things that stardock spotted the need for in GC2" Absolutely. I think we can take a lot on faith here. But maybe we should go back to GC2 to refresh our memory, and the
"There should also be some automatic/Next unit selection (hitting n key for instance)" Agree. But I'm not too worried because I *think* they are going to eventually implement all such convenience features that we had in GalCiv 2 and its expansions. (If only I remembered what they all were)
I loved it.
" having the square the cursor is on light up so you can see where it is" That might be good. Something needs to be done.
Looks like the sovereign only heals when he drinks the Kool-Aid. Couldn't he at least heal 1 hp per turn naturally?
By "mouse pointer inaccurate" I guess / hope you mean the bit where you right click on an enemy and your guy moves next past him instead ? Drives me crazy.
yes, please
Me too. (XP sp3. 3gb ram. Ati 2600xt with current drivers)
I've had the black screen twice in a row after alt-esc (not alt-tab). Process not responding, etc, etc. Closed it & on my merry way. But earlier I had alt-esc & gotten back with no problem. XP-pro sp3. Ati 2600xt with current drivers. Core2 Duo E6750.
Same problem. Seedy's fix works, although I have only one monitor. ATI 2600 XT. Drivers current as of last weekend. XP-Pro, with MANY non-standard settings intended to make it more secure.
It seems to have been over-hastily copied from GalCiv 2, as I see two references to the old game that maybe should be updated before anyone has to take the legalese too seriously ? "6. Create "mods" based on the documented functions of the SOFTWARE to customize it and upload those "mods" to GalCiv2.com." "Updates can be obtained from the website at https://www.galciv2.com or via Stardock Central (http://www.sdcentral.net)."
