Sometimes it does some kind of special damage, it occasionally hits one of my summoned guys and does like 40 points of damage & seems to inflect some kind of spell. Of course there is no description of this in the manual, so I have no idea what it is actually or what the chance is of it doing its special damage, it seems to have a small percentage chance, like critical hit, of happening. I typically make them a priority target for my archers. I don't think anything is worth 12k in
It's a stupid ring. If it couldn't be abused, it would have almost no use. I just use the bajillion 0.5 essence potions around to make people casters.
True, if it's only a one point ring and it can't be abused then it's next to useless. But, if instead it had, say, 3points of essence and one additional mana regeneration attached to it & couldn't be abused, then it would be more useful.
cpl_rk - hmmm, i think one time i got the ring from a treasure? In my current game i thought i got it with the mission involving a key, not sure? Nevertheless, it would require allot of work to have every hero in your kingdom with essence, so i would say you would have earn't it!
It would be a task, but leveling up a guy to level 1 and 2 is very easy (it's just 10 exp points) & could go very quickly if
Where did you find this ring, I've never found it? I can see this becoming very gamey, very quick. Every hero in my kindgom would heve essence, just pass it off.

Personally, I like having a lot of goodie huts. But, there's just something not quite right about matching goodie hut availablility to a tech research improvement. It's like matching perception to research, just doesn't make sense .. people eat food not buildings. What would make more sense to me would've been to have a "perception" trait and a "search" function (right down there with the "shop," "trade," and "guard"). A hero could search any square comparing his "percepti
I'd wager such statistics don't actually exist but I'd be interested in hearing what percentage of PC gamers are -routinely- upset by the content of the games that they pick up on day one. Perhaps there's a whole genre of geninely awful games out there that I've accidentally been avoiding all my life but games that don't work still surprise and upset me because, in my experience, they're few and far between. <b
I started back in the 80's as well and never got a bug ridden unplayable game until Ultima IV in which I merely called the developers/publisher at that time Sierra and they talked me through a boot disk over the phone (it really wasn't even a bug but just a setup routine required to boot up the game on my machine). I played hundreds of games of various types and many of them from SSI and SSG and MICROPROSE and not a one did I have any cr
The only thing i would definitely agree with would be that you do not see goodies you cannot claim except for perhaps a select few to act as bait to tempt the player to research the appropriate tech. You should be able to build on visible goodies too and they simply get automatically destroyed in the process.
Or better yet, build on them & they don't get destroyed.
"Forcing "lore" down the player's throats is not a good idea but offering it in a way that is related to gameplay events and possibly even hinting at possible good tactics over the course of those stories... sure, why not?
This is a very good point, in the game-as-is I see a very bountiful thriving world with food basically falling from the skies. I see nothing even remotely close to a "post cataclysmic" world. S
I just want to play a 4x strategy game against a challenging & competant AI. The story line isn't even on the list of relevent factors.
A lot of those are probably level 0 which are like 10 gp or 5/25 materiel, which have minimal impact the further in the game you are, but are definitely more valuable in the first 50 turns. Also those little white huts need to be fixed, probably 1 out of 5 don't work. A lot of the quest are broken, I go to the quest location and the picture there disappears & nothing happens. Sometimes I go to level X goodie hut when I have level X+n leader and absolutely nothing happens.
The manual needs to be improved drastically
Every now and then after I hit the turn button I'll get a report that there is an attack on a caravan, I click auto since I know it's lost and the game just locks up. Doesn't happen on every caravan attack, maybe one out of 200 or something like that.
What we really need is a "kool yet reasonable request for upcoming patches" thread.
I personally think the problem is not in the quality of the code (in most cases) but rather the huge variances in hardware that simply did not exist 10 or 15 years ago.
.... A lot of good stuff ......
Excellent post, and I agree perfectly. I love 4x space games. The analogy to alien planets ( and indirectly races) is perfect. The faction differences in EWOM should be as different as "arachnid" vs "terran," but right now there's no observable differences between the factions: either how they move, interract, diplomacy, etc, thus reducing "suspension

From the start screen, hit "Options," and then under the "Gameplay" tag, in the very most lower right of that window, you can choose your format for saving Elemental screenshots. If it is not "jpg" then switch it to that. If it IS jpg but you are still getting bit maps, then that would be a mystery.
None of this info is in the manu
Ive had many new PC games that won't work at release over the past decade, most recently Elven legacy. It doesn't work on my old windows xp nor my new windows 7 system. I actually feel that a game should work out-of-the-box that matches the system specs, that doesn't seem like much to ask for. In general, newer games sux quality wise in relation to older games (in many different ways: weak AIs, shi**y or no manuals, bugs & patches, and just flat-out non-working
Easiest way: 1 ctrl printscreen, 2 open paint (windows has this app) 3 paste 4 edit as you want 5 "save as" there is a drop down list with choices like bmp, gif, jpeg, etc... (these are just the file format extensions)

All other magically upwardly mobile heroes do not get imbued, which would lower my sovereign's essence, but are rather given one of those "gain 0.5 esse
I don't feel there should be an experience cap on troops any more than champions. The game should allow a champion leader the capability to join a squad and become part of it, instead of having to fight alone against an entire group. He should take damage as the group takes damage & have the potential
It's called bling dude should be a limit of 10 rings, 2amulets, one necklace .. but I don't think there are that many designs in the game at this point, so it doesn't really matter, you'll end up paying an arm and a leg to equip one guy anyway which isn't worth it.
