They take a long time to level, and the items are expensive as hell to equip them. If you lose them, that's it. Comparatively if I lose the stack of 8 random guys with hammers, I can just go make another one.
In this game you don't need to produce heroes; you can more easily buy them. I've got

Give the ruler a target life-span based on constitution; they could even add spells to extend life. Then when the ruler does finally die, his or her heir could take over as the leader. Etc. etc. There is so much unmet potential here.
T

That would be great if marsh monsters actually got some kind of advantage for marsh, or for desert monsters in desert, woods monsters got concealment in woods, etc.. but as of now there is absolutely no differences given to animals & their indigenous environment, so it makes no difference. It's just generic "terrain" for graphics sake, the trees don't even block arrows. The best you get is some defensive bonuses, +25% or +50% for a small number of locations on the tactical board.<

Since 1.1 will probably remove or at least vastly restrict teleport, I think the entire debate is ultimately moot until the new release. I think if a player or set of players have a problem with some game mechanic,

I guess I see it as a lack of attention to "need." In other games like Anno the player "needs" to expand in order to gather certain resources that are themselves "needed and essential" to expanding your population in number, morale, and prosperity in order to win the game. In Distant Worlds, new 4x space game, you needed to gather at least 10 luxury items from different planets to move your population up to different levels (there's over a 100 different resources on differen

I've played a couple of the Anno series of games. I enjoy those type of strategy games a lot, if you liked those you'll probably like Colonization (colonial era civilizations) and imperialism (an older but still great game). The big advantage in those games that makes them more enjoyable from a city-building perspective was the "need" to gather resources in order to move your population to higher levels of numbers, happiness, and prosperity. This game doesn't have this. For examp
