[quote who="Frogboy" reply="11" id="3316037"] Quoting Heavenfall, reply 10So let's say you are talking a build order here, because I'm guessing that's what you want to hardcode (and tech order and hero trait order as well). At least you could put those in their own object types so we can make our own for factions/champs that differ significantly. That would require XML work, reading in, etc. That's not my area of coding and that person is currently worki

Give us better interaction between XML objects and AI interpretation instead of hardcoding stuff. There's already so much hardcoded in FE, so many limits on the things we can do. Surely the plan should be to attract modders for total conversions, not drive them away. Anyway a total conversion really isn't realistic when there's so much hardcoded, just to mention a few: - environment types - shard types - damage formulas for battle - how the AI picks wha

No video. It plays very much like the normal FE mechanics, just with more fantastic content. The only major difference is you can play pure Civilization tech tree for Influence if you find some of the many new monster lair recruitment centers near your start.

All the books from R. Scott Bakker's Second Apocalypse http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R._Scott_Bakker . I always recommend these, they are probably the best fantasy series I ever read. Some very "mature" content, but not just for the sake of it. A lot of philosophy which you need to keep up with while reading, but it makes the books so much better.

Used it for a bit, didn't really think it seemed as bad as people say. Couple of my games don't support it though so no reason to upgrade.

The leather pieces use a full armour texture instead of having semi-colourable textures. So you need to make a new texture, rather than just altering the XML of the artdef. gfx/hkb/Armor/K_Armor_Leather_Chestpiece_01.hkb &nb

Exactly, of course Stardock are aware WHO is answering these polls and these are not firm results, just hints to be analysed further. I remember about 6 months ago Frogboy wrote about the dangers of listening to the "zealots". So don't worry about this poll having too much influence over their decision-making.

AoW2 sucked me right in when I was young. The sieges were just mind-blowing - surrounding a city with several armies, towers shooting magic stuff, destructible gates... it will be interesting if AoW3 can build on the sequel enough to pull me in again. Very concerned how the transition to 3d will go.

With full respect, if you don't want to finish it then what is there to comment on? Generally, the game could benefit from a deeper tactical game. However, personally I don't think it can be accomplished without significant AI work which only the devs can do.

Step 1) Select an item that you've researched. This may be a leather helmet or a low-strength amulet, or a Lightning Hammer. Step 2) Attributes are unlocked from having spells (or indirectly from having the spell trait required for a spell - earth 2 for stoneskin). Spells add individual effects, such as Stoneskin/Earth2 adding extra defense against cutting/pierce. An item can only hold so many spells depending on the crafter's technology (bonus: sovereign history with an extra

[quote who="pomalley" reply="3" id="3314644"]I really think that FE hasn't realized its full potential yet. We'll see what happens with the expansion, of course, but I would really like things like item creation, flying units, more complex tactical battles, a more fleshed-out city-leveling system, even an underworld (if you must), put into FE. And, more importantly, have the AI be able to use them intelligently. Or, at least, put up enough of a fight that the player is required to use

A very tough choice between evolving FE and going for MoM2, my vote is on evolving FE. I think if FE had crafting, interesting sieges, dynamic quests and more appealing/devastating end-game spells it'd be a truly great game. But mostly I don't want to lose the greatest unique feature we have in FE: the ability to fully customize our units and heroes, both with stats and appearance. I really can't see myself going back to playing a game where equipping a Doomhammer of Total Destruc

I just find them impossible to enjoy because of their competitive nature. There's never a match where people just enjoy the game, there's always verbal harassment or people behaving like dicks. With Sins of a Dark Age Ironclad will be up against the giants Dota 2 and LoL, both immensely popular MOBA games. It will be interesting to see if people think Realm Quests are enough to switch over.

Had some free time today, updated to FE 1.20 and fixed some reported bugs http://stormworld.wikidot.com/versions#toc1 I haven't really had a time to play with 1.20 so if you see some new bug please report it after checking the Known Issues http://stormworld.wikidot.com/Knownissues . I do keep track of the stuff reported, even if it will take time to get to it ri

There are also pioneers in expandedfactions_units_special.xml, and you also need to add it to all pioneers in A_LIB_UnitStat_BG_vZE\CoreReplacementFiles\CoreUnits.xml As others have pointed out, SW 1.5u isn't balanced for 30 population cost pioneers.
