In my Rivermod I treated rivers like world resources - each river has a "river with bedrock" that is particularly well suited to build on. Every other part of the river can't be built on. For it to work with the way rivers are implemented right now, I think those world resources would need to have a smaller effect the farther away they are from their connected city.

Very nice, the item quality thing will be nice although I have to verify that new items are actually added to the general pool (because they weren't before).
People can vote whatever they want for whatever reasons. It is up to the devs to decide if those are legitimate reasons, not ours. This is a thread for first impressions, not a discussion. I am loving the new production system, so much of an improvement over what we had in beta 3.
That's how it is for me as well, it only shows up if I type the whole "regedit".
My earliest game I still play is actually team fortress 2, released in 2007. Although I play older games every now and then, that's the oldest game I play "regularly".
Just a heads up to anyone using the mod. When beta 4 arrives, you'll need to follow the uninstallation instructions on the wiki if you have the rivermod installed. Do this before patching. Since the mod isn't compatible, you should also remove the mod folders. I'm backed up so a beta 4 version of the mod won't be out until next month.
WOAH.
7. Once you have fire shards of the same element, you can cast a spell that creates a pentacle, triggering a permament effect (also graphic) in the area that connects the five shards: this could be bonus to your units or damage to enemy's, or the summon of a very powerful elemental of that type.
I just wanted to post and say I aboslutely love this idea. It is exactly the kind of interaction betwee
Homm6 is almost completely focused on the tactical aspect of the game. Strategy-wise (outside battles) it's a poor joke. But the tactical aspects in Homm6 are far superior to FE. In short, FE has a better game in the strategic area, and HoMM6 has a better game in the tactical battles. This is mirrored in the gamemplay as well. In FE, the large decisions that you make on the strategic map are far more important than the ones you make in tactical battles.
Although FE will need to be judged on its own, for the "legacy" players of Elemental what Frogboy is suggesting is actually a great idea. I recently went back and played E:wom. EVERYTHING has been improved in FE. It gives some good perspective on how bad E:wom was, and how good FE is starting to become. I am obviously excited for beta 4.
I'm one of the guys that couldn't care less about terrain bonuses in tactical combat. I'd rather have line of sight or more action abilities (mutually exclusive) selectable for unit designs. I think those would improve the tactical battles far more than terrain bonuses, without slowing them down like terrain would. Quoting myself from another topic:
[...]look at Might and Magic Heroes 6, it is pure candy in tactical battles. The basic unit for the Haven fact

A stalemate because noone wants to suffer first strike would only occur if you are fighting 1 unit vs 1 unit. As soon as you have more than 1 unit on each side, the stalemate would never occur if the AI played it smart. The human player now is forced to focus all its first strikes
They specifically said in the beta 4 preview that the lone city strategy is not something they want. Actually, what they said was that they are attempting to design the game so that you benefit from playing with several cities. I asked about how they will rein in city-spam but there was no answer. Some players said that faction prestige will help with that.

It is crucial that he understands how to optimize his own gameplay, in order to optimize the AI's. This is not a case of one player trying to one-up another player. This is a case of the AI developer making obvious mistakes which are then repeated by the game's AI. You see Frogboy moving all his units poorly in the tactical battle? And does that remind you of how the AI
The Government is notoriously poor in cyber security.
The US government employs some of the best hackers in the world. They just don't work with software in any public service area. They work with stuff like Stuxnet, Duqu and Flame. They don't put your best minds at work building safe systems for police stations or hospitals. I think it is unlikely that the hacker group referred to as Anonymous would go after Curiosity. Anon has a serious political agend

I notice that Frogboy builds an iron mine and crystal mine almost immediately. In Beta 3 that would be a bad idea if they went into the city build queues, because there's nothing to spend those resources on. I wonder if we will get new early-game items that actually use those resources now? Also, doesn't the ogre use blunt damage? Stoneskin should not help you anything against an ogre because they do blunt damage only. I liked how the icon for the city o
None of the software I run would function on it. So I wouldn't even look at it. If everything I use currently, plus everything that is available on the internet and works on win7, plus any future releases of games and other software - if all that worked on a Stardock Linux release, I would consider it. IF there were significant advantages to win7. Just to be clear - this is not a case of me wanting to "test things out and see what works". If there wasn't a GUARANTEE that EVERY
Not to be that guy, but this game was actually released today (10th).
Now for the really loaded question: why are you talking politics in this sub-forum when it's not allowed?
At this point I don't know why anyone would buy a windows 8 license for a PC that has win7.
A logical decision given that MS will try to corner Windows8 with their own marketplace which, from what I hear, is already deeply ingrained in the UI.
I had a few acer models before, to say that they have "poor" cooling/ventilation is understating it. They didn't have any. Failed within 3 years.
Yes, but the xml is not going to work exactly the same as normal shard powers because those are hardcoded. The functionality will be the same in-game. First you need a continuous resource. A continuous resource functions like food did in E:wom - world resources produce X each turn, no stockpile is gathered. If you have one, it will say that you have 1 all the time. &nbs
