No, wait for release. Frogboy has gone through pains to make sure everyone understands that it is NOT fun. If you want a demo of the game, the beta is not the place to get it. Not to mention that if you pre-order now you won't get it. It's closed until Beta 3 comes out, which is likely still a couple weeks away.
http://news.bigdownload.com/photos/elemental-war-of-magic-1/1136945/#1136945 Yep. It definitely looks a lot better overall. Some things can be moved around of course, like the minimap going up top or something, but if I was going to make a UI suggestion, it would just be "Make it *that*." Why's it funny I should bring up King's Bounty? I mainly did it because I remember having a forum debate with someone and comparing HOMM an
I'm pretty sure at this point the release is locked and they can't delay it. To be honest I'm not worried about content as much as I am with overall polish. This may be a personal thing, but when I look at the UI in the latest HOMM and then at the UI in King's Bounty, I'd say a lot more care went into making the King's Bounty UI good and pleasant to look at. By contrast, HOMM's is functional and that's about all you can say for it. The

I've got 10+ hours of sitting on airplanes and in airports on Saturday, and this is going to make it a lot better. There are a couple of games I've been meaning to get, and now they're all on sale!

I don't think any of those are better than what we currently have. Who cares about different kinds of incomes? We already have two, merchants/markets and caravans, three if you count quests/goodie huts. How is having "food cities" a good thing? If you want realistic, that certainly isn't. It's just a waste a city. I'm sorry but none of those seem like pluses.
I agree with Annatar. I don't understand what the point is of replacing the current system with a new one that would make it harder to manage large empires. It's a small problem to begin with, and I don't think "fixing" it, especially in the way you propose, would add any benefit to the game.

Perhaps adamantium then? Wow, you sure sound like you care a lot about this... Elementium is fine, it's always nice when name aren't copy-pasted from every other fantasy game out there. Personally i gotta say I prefer Mithril, or
Good news! Talking with Cari_Elf on IRC today, and found out some info about exporting hkb files. Turns out they export them directly from 3DS Max and Maya. And also, cycholka directed me to link from Intel http://software.intel.com/sites/havok/ where you can download free plugins for 3DS Max, Maya, and XSI that allow you to export hkb's. Unfortunately, they don't have plugins for the newest versions of those software (ie, no plugin fo
I feel rather silly asking this, but how the heck do you get your children to marry anyone, let alone eachother?
I bet it would be pretty easy to mod 1UPT into Elemental. Also, Frogboy has said it will be pretty easy to mod Elemental into an RTS, which, AFAIK, is something impossible in any of the Civ games (although I could be wrong, it's not like I've ever tried[e digicons]:P[/e] )
Quoting Aeon221, reply 2 Speaking to tactical battles, I've never particularly cared for them. They're on the same level as playing skirmish mode in any RTS against the AI -- in other words, easy,
I have to agree with this, they don't seem very interesting. They feel kind of lacking, although I have no idea what.
32-bit memory restraints has been our biggest challenge so far. One of our big goals for the game has been to really personalize the experience where each unit looks different. Right down to their hair, clothes, face, etc. ACK! Does this mean the plans for a 64-bit executable have been scrapped?
It hasn't been scrapped, but the 64-big versi
Ok, looking through old dev journals, I found this:
In terms of models and animation, we use Intel’s Havok. We also have a tool we’ll be releasing that makes Havok files work with Elemental. These are all free. What you make your models and other 3D assets in is up to you.
Citizens default to only 5 hit points. Far too few points to bother spending money equipping such fragile beings. Spells, Shards, and Essence sacrifices can vastly change this. In The Silmarillion, Morgoth sacrificed much of his inherent strength into his minions. Players can choose to do this as well via Sorcery.
This excites me. Somthing I was hoping for since before the beta started.
I think it's worth mentioning that it's still a beta, and that Frogboy has gone through pains to make it explicitly clear it is not supposed to be fun yet. Huge sections of the game are still missing (Magic, adventuring, and diplomacy tech trees, no tactical battles, the current quests are placeholders, etc, etc). So basically, what I'm trying to say is that you're expecting too much from an early beta that shouldn't be fun in the first place. If it's August 1st and it still

Assets that are given to us are always awesome, but I want to see my own stuff in game! Actually, my friend, we can already start work on some things. If you'll look at your file structure you'll see plenty of textures and assets that we can begin Modding and changing NOW . Animations, Wireframes, it's
The Beta 2 series will begin to show how factions are different from one another much better. However, we’d love to hear your thoughts on making different factions more distinct and interesting. Bear in mind, from a RAM point of view, it’s not practical for every faction to have a completely different building design setup (when we’re all 64-bit then we can talk about that).
Could just a couple key buildings be different? Maybe the town center, palace,
