Oooh, that's it! I DO have two champions able to cast it! Hah, thanks for that, now I understand! Yes, ok, I am good with the system, too, because it is champion driven, and yes, actually, I agree if the AI would use it too, then it would be balanced just because they could crush you the same as you do them.

I finally started using my strastegic map spells, as I had been in a nasty habit of not thinking about them at opportune moments. So this time when an umberdroth came waltzing into my territory, I remembered. So I casted freeze, the pillar of flame. Then...another pillar of flame in the same season? Hmmmm.....he was 5 squares away from my city (which could not have defended against a full umberdroth), so I simply cast two pillar of flames each sea
I am not sure how long this has been going on, or if it was some bizarre single game bug... Ok, I guess some disclosure would help, though I have played for a long time, I have almost never opened up the higher quests and hero research in this game. Now that that is out of the way, I recenlty opened up the one where you can get level 7 champs, and when I went around to gather the various treasure, my second champion just walked over it, never picking it up.
Yeah, the first spider you can build right from the start. It makes early defense pretty easy... since they don't cost any maint as far as I can tell.
Good point. Not sure how OP it is, or if it is more of a feature of the race (easier early defense), kind of how Magnar has his slaves and Procipinee has her magic based outposts. So perhaps it is a good thing that Resoln has it, especially since they are almos
Ok, I will stop pushing buttons, but they were made so available and attractive!
I do agree with it is frustrating to have the toughest monsters in the game completely destory your game within the first 50 turns. recently went through a spurt of 2 games .913 and 2 games .914, in a row, where I got up to second, third city, only to have a red dragon or other ridiculous creature rampage my cities while leaving the AI completely alone. However, I LOVE that the world is dangerous, and that I have to sometimes change my strategy to try to keep this fr

I could build them right off the bat. Love them, too, actually makes quite a different army than all humans. My first game, I created a spider before anyhting else upon startup of the game. That one spider became pretty powerful, and landing that web is fantastic strategy early on, used to break up groups of melee units or an archer from retreating back every turn. I am a fan of Resoln being built around various spider units if that is the plan.
Yikes. I have actually been much...much happier with each patch that has come.

Curse those Hoarder Spiders! Yes, they aren't Resoln's trainable ones, but those things have CRUSHED my cities many times...
Ok, I played another game on Challenging, large world as Kraxis. Great gameE mind you, I got crushed by the Gilden in the end, but it was a legitimate crushing. It didn't feel cheesed, just out played. The main issue to start was a nasty hunter spider spawn that was south of my starting city. I dropped a second city...delayed because of the roaming spider groups that came from that spawn, and the city grew fast and was a strong second ci
My game was simple. Started a challenging game with large world and full population of sovs, as Resoln. Got to a good start, set up second city early. Turn 64, Umberdroth appeared. Turn 67, he deroyed my secondary city. Turn 79, destroyed my main city. GG Oh, and he had destroyed another sov much earlier, like turn 10. guessing the sov "woke him up" by setting city next to him? Then he went on a rampage.

My concern is, that you're once again, far to close to your creation, an understandable situation given the love, hard work and ef

wow, that's crazy..haha. Funny how, when it coincides with some update of game or something, it is almost impossible to think outside the "update is the problem" box and think hardware. You know...is the computer plugged in? Glad you found the solution!
Well, I WANT to have to use mana and items to tank, but to tank AND do all the damage while others sit on the sidelines so they don't die? That breaks the cardinal rule one role (tank) doing all the damage and soaking of damage. If, in my genius, I use spells to slow/immobilize while tank takes the damage, and frail range do the damage, at least there is a mechanic besides a single, strong source of tank and damage standing in the face of the whole gro
My main issue right now is that, playing as Gilden, my sov is ridiculously powerful even in early game. I walked up and destroyed, solo, a red con slag. I had a few pieces of equipment, nice shield and helmet, and a good sword I found. I took the defending path and various defensive traits to make him my tank. Well, against a tough slag, he just soaked up most damage, counter attacked for damage, and either attacked or healed as needed. I just moved

I may try uninstalling and installing again
So far so good. Essentially, deleting the profiles (those ones that, in Win 7, you find in your documents, along with download folder, etc etc and you can find in the upper portion of the start menu), completely fixed it. I wanted to update my situation. I had uninstalled before work this morning and started a fresh install from my saved, downloaded file. It installed while I was at work. I got home, deleted all of my saved files and config files. We're talking, deleted the whole folders, and there were three of them, for the different betas. FIXED IT! It runs perfectly now.
I strongly believe that when your city levels up, you should just get the upgrade you choose, not have to build it. Alternatively, yeah, make them more powerful and desirable and if we have to spend 50 turns of production.
I totally see the choosing damage over healing. I am curious, though, have they removed healing from use on the strategic map? If not, you can abuse that between battles to heal your troops. Oh, and keep em coming, thought this would be a ho hum game, but since your invasion into Kraxis territory, I am anxiously awaiting the next episode!
This new beta has been awful for me, though I still have faith it will get better. Mine is very laggy/slow, and we're talking even on the menu screen. It taked half to full second to highlight the "new game" button once you float the mouse over it. Also, only about 20% of the time does it start a new game. Most of the time it just sits at load up screen for 5 minutes before I have to kill it. Last build was literally flawless, except for two cra
