Last night I saw a post on the forums - before I could read it, it was deleted. However, the title was something along the lines of "beat the SP in one night". It's possible that the post was made by one of the few people who managed to download the gold version of the game. Or it could have been complete garbage.

Considering you won't even be able to "go on quests" without the proper research, then yes - you must build.
This post is mainly directed towards Brad / other developers. I've been reading some of this thread here: http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=48528&page=64 You were saying that the core reason that the quests and quest items were taken out was because beta testers got furious over being defeated by a human opponent that had managed to collect a power

Who with access to the early gold-release will be downloading the game immediately and playing right away? Is anyone going to wait the few extra days to start the game off with the 0-day patch instead?
You sir, are ever so subtle.
People of the Empire! For too long , have we allowed these light-skinned peasants to congregate and multiply in the west. For too long , have they refused us , as their masters; instead mocking us with their sacrilegious ways. They are unfit for this world: feeble to the point of barely being able to draw breath without calling upon the aid of another light-skin. Now they rally behind their Queen,
I'm writing a response too arrgg [e digicons]}:)[/e]
Why does the book describing Verga display him without his armor on while holding a spear? Also, why does the description for the archers display "Armed with crossbow" twice?
Tactical battles: If multiplayer games have simultaneous turns, then two opposing armies could fight a tactical battle while the other players continued to manage their civilizations from the global map. Not an ideal situation but that, along with the option for tactical battles when creating a game, is better than just removing them entirely.
maybe some sort of midget or dwarf riding him with a crossbow too.
That would be amazing - in a silly, sort of ridiculous way.
I hope so. If not I'm going to attempt to do some modding in this area if I have the spare time.

I'm not defending anyone, but you're grouping things like flying units in with
While I agree that the LAN support could be better, I don't understand all of these people with their unstable internet connects. I'm sorry, are we living in 1995? The only place I can imagine having a shaky connection would be some rural area - no city or suburban home's internet connection is going to be regularly dropping out unless there is a power failure (or if the ISP is shoddy).
you saw Elemental on a store shelf? are you sure it wasnt a "pre-release" box?
Plenty of stores have released games before the street release date before.
I don't expect this to be in by release (or with including the 0-day patch) but please expand the diplomacy to something more than: (a + b + c) / (d - e) = relation ship. Give us a more personalized, sand-boxy system that allows us to do more complicated things with opponents. Allow us to deceive the AI (as well as be deceived by the AI). Let us coordinate invasions by selecting targets and the like with allies.
Don't simplify MP. Simple as that. If people want to play a balanced 1 vs 1 game, then they can turn off w/e they want. But some people are going to want to play a more unpredictable multiplayer game too.
At least the bear wasn't named n**ger-man. Seriously, how can I take this H.P. Lovecraft story seriously when the cat has such a ridiculous name? Should be interesting to see if Yithril manages to take you out or not. So many times (including in Galactic Civilizations 2), the AI declares war on me when it is not in a position to do so (it's too weak, etc). Hopefully the AI in Elemental will only declare war when it knows it has the upper hand.
Eww, I hate in-game codes and such. I'm glad they didn't have any. To each his own, I guess.
What would you call the game-code in the back of the novel?
Is the book only available as an eBook ?
So does no one know? Any developers out there able to answer my question?
