Seriously guys, this forum is one of the best forums I've seen because the developers, especially Frogboy, do listen to us gamers and are sincere. The problem is that I can look at a thread without ever hearing someone swearing or yelling profanities just for the fun of it. Other people might be amused, but it gets old really quick. In addition to hiring Jon Shafer, Stardock should seek to have Paradox Interactive, the creator of Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, and Vic
Yes, this is the 1.2 beta.
If this is the beta for 1.2, what are the big focusing points for the 1.2 patch? Is it all fixes or are there new additions / overhauls?
It is now time for people to place their bets on how many letters there will be in the 1.19 series. What did we get up to in 1.09? Anyone remember?
Clearly the patch will reach release ready after hitting "h".
Massively destructive strategic spells need some sort of "warm up period" to give the receiving player a chance to defend.
Still no buy. It's like: "well, gee thanks Mr. Murder. Thank you for only stabbing me once rather than twice. So kind."

So I may to be taking this thread off the rails by asking this but... How was Civ V ruined? I haven't played it yet so I'm curious but I have played Civ IV and its expansions.
I disagree. I think that the magic system is entirely fine. Do you have any actual flaws with it that you could point out?
The magic system could be more polished / fleshed out. Make magic books physical objects to be found, fought over and traded. In-depth necromancy. Counter spells, curses, cures, etc.
List looks solid. Are you guys going to offer a roadmap for the foreseeable future or are we going to take things "one patch at a time?"
I would personally not recommend the X series. The concept is interesting but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. The game is tediously slow, AI path-finding is terrible, ships do not have cockpits and lack a lot of character, UI is needlessly convoluted.

I'm not sure what the dev team has planned for v1.2, but based on my experience with the game I'm hoping the following items are a high priority: Greatly improved strategic AI (I know Brad's already working on this) Greatly improved tactical AI More polish and love for tactical battles in general More spells and more polish on the magic system Improved diversity between races Improved diversity between factions Improve
It is sooo stupid to work on AI before implementing all features and making general changes like global mana pool.
Not really. Working on low level stuff such as the helper methods and assorted APIs is not a waste of time at all. Working on improving the AIs higher-level reasoning isn't a waste of time either: not only does it allow Brad to learn new ways to deal with the AI, but it also allows for the AI to adopt new gameplay me
What a juicy long dev post. Now to read it [e digicons]:P[/e] .
EDIT: never mind, I've resolved the confusion. Carry on.
