You will most likely get into Beta 2, which should start soon, as discussed in the beginning of the thread. There will be no Beta 3, as any subsequent betas will be merged with Beta 2 as continuous updates, from what I've read. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.)
"Beta 3" is now what "beta 4" was going to be (tactical combat), and beta 4 is what beta 5 was going to be (modding). There will be a beta 3, there wont' be a

Will there be more open slots for Beta 3 if b2 is closed?
When beta 2 is released, all pre-orders will be charged, and everybody will get access. It's not full, if you order now you will get in. :)
thats how i feel about WOW. Blizzard tried to appeal to everyone that the game is has lost any character. Both sides have every class now, people cap their levels in like 2 weeks, they have to cater to an annoying crowd. I dont really see MMOs being any good for at least another 7 years. All the Diablo games are the same despite taking 6 years to make one. SC2 is a spam war.
You say that like its a bad thing. :P Bot

Shouldn't people have been expecting that?

Again, the use of 'real' is one I don't understand. Mind you, English is not myy native language, so it may be me not understanding well, but when I read your sentence, I read that games not using this system aren't 'real' and are not worth calling games.
Your English is pretty
I hear talk from frogboy and such about multi platform gaming and they say that they cant put the games they want on a 512 MB console. A completely fair and valid point. But do both consoles only have 512 mbs of ram? The ps3 has games like MAG with 256 players. surely that would require more than 512 MBs of ram. Have any pc devs ever looked at the ps3 instead of the xbox?
Players don't take up a lot of RAM when they all look alike. But

Why not make it a choice like in other games? Religion didn't have much of an effect, so meh, but didn't Beyond the Sword have unique leader traits already?...Maybe they removed tech trading/etc. so they can add it back in in an expansion... or sell it as DLC. And removing religion may be to 'not offend'

I don't like it, because I think that a real turn based or the tile/turn based systems are much better for a game like EWoM.
Not if you have any hope of recreating something like the Battle of the Five Armies, which was mentioned as something they wanted us to be able to do.
Switching the tactical system was very expensive for us but it was more important to us to do the tactical battles right than releasing something that we didn't think was optimal. But the other tactical system, just like the other economic systems we've tried, aren't "gone", they're just not exposed in the shipping game but that is something we can change as we get time.
So what turn model is the base game going to use?

Yeah I checked out the demo once I realized it has one (suggested improvement for Impulse: indicate that on the game page). I greatly enjoyed the demo, so at this price it's a definite pickup for me. Thanks folks!
after thinking about it a while, i think that both sides should have morale problems. i think that at teh start of the battle each unit has a base morale of 100. any bonuses increase this amount. also a champions leadership skill affects it as well. each combat round(each player goes once) 1 morale point is ticked off the units morale pool. each time a unit is attacked another point is ticked off.

However morale caps should be in. Each and every creature should have a "panic level" for example. While X creature will panic & try to flee once his morale goes below 25/100 [100=max], but Y creature will only panic once his morale goes below 10/100. This is what I meant on caps. I guess it's quite logical.
If we're going with a % based system, limits are needed for sure. Both at the low end (for panic level), and a

They have said, multiple times, that Elemental is being made as a single-player game, but with a compelling multi-player aspect. Should the Multi-Player be fun and intuitive? Yes Should that come at a cost to the Single-Player game? Hell No!!! (and Frogboy said that won't happen) In my opinion. I'd rath
I don't think they'll gimp the multi-player. In fact the "Winner Take All" idea which no-one likes, Including my-self....WOULD BE PERFECT for MULTI-PLAYER. It WOULD Gimp up SINGLE PLAYER. For MULTI-PLAYER though, it is a great idea. Which might have been what the Frogster had in mind. As I understand it though, they Already know Some Single Player Mechanics simply WILL NOT translate into a "Fun" Multi-Player experience.
