Oh, I agree. But, perhaps these vendors are paying companies to produce exclusive content. As a consumer, are you going to use Steam to buy vanilla Civ5 or are you going to use D2D to purchase Civ5 with two extra civs? Assuming that the prices are the same and you are not a fanboy of a certain services, you're going to purchase it from D2D.
Doesn't the Steam version come with a Civ? At least they're
In the beta I found every time I got the ability to do higher level quests, more quests would appear. I was never able to run out of things to explore, though I never really tried it on a big map.

1. Don't think anybody knows yet, multiplayer and tactical battles haven't been live at the same time in anything publically released. 2. No. Looks like in the expansion. 3. Not that I know of. 4. Not sure. 5. Far as I know it's still simultaneous turns, so yes you're moving at the same time.
You can either take the paranoid approach (this thread) and firmly believe that no LAN is ever coming, or actually have some faith in Stardock who has until now been very player friendly and has had a good dialogue with its customers.
We should have faith why, exactly? The direct answer we've gotten is "eventually, maybe, depending on interest" for things that we were told would be around now. I see no reason based on that

You should wait for a demo to see what release is actually like. Nobody's seen the game since beta 4 (and multiplayer since beta 2), so just what's there and what isn't is kind of an open question.
This is why most other companies do not have this level of public participation. They don't want to be heckled by someone pointing out an idea earlier in the development of the game and taking that as commandments written in stone. What is written in a development journal are not promises of what will be and assuming they are is silly. It is unfortunate you are upset, but perhaps in the future you shouldn't pre-order
The main thing is really from a support/quality of service point of view. If it's client-server, then 1) you don't have to worry about people opening ports (as most people find that sort of thing confusing and cumbersome at best), and 2) you don't have to worry about Jimbob User trying to host a game on his 486 with 56k dialup and making a horrible game for everyone else.
