Kiddie platformers always have a strong babyplay following there's no strategy to them. Just click n go and giggles. I could care less about Trine or any other kiddy platform game. Elemental is a real strategists game and doesn't need any multiplayer elements to make it strong. It will sell high on its single player experience alone just like Galactic Civilization 2 did. Really wished Brad hadn't included
I'm not even sure who wants to sit down for hours and play a game like this multiplayer anyways >.>
Well, Civ 4 is fairly popular online. I've played a fair bit of it, with people you know IRL it's quite a lot of fun (if you play over several sessions). There was also supposed to be other MP modes that would reduce the time to play a game and make it work better. I wonder if those made it in for release?
Where do people get the idea that "LAN" automatically means no internet connection? LAN only means you have a bunch of networked computers. Having an internet connection or not doesn't change anything. Playing a game with a computer on the network hosting, and playing with every computer on the network connecting to an online server are both "LAN'. It's a term independent of gaming, making this whole debate silly.
Because has the
Tridus, I think that ultimately the issue comes down to this: Stardock decided to put LAN support (i.e. Custom Servers) on the list for post-release. They did that so that they could finish other things that they deemed more important. You feel that any MP game should not only have internet games avaialble but also complete modding and Lan Support at release time or it is unfinished from a MP pe
However, this issue has developed momentum, whether or not it was a misunderstanding in the beginning. It needs to be resolved somehow - not sure exactly how though. What can be done now to resolve this issue, given what has already happened in this thread and the unlikelihood of any serious clarification being enough to satisfy the various parties involved? Because we are as a community, and Stardock is too, hurting

Quit being dicks, everyone.
I'm complaining because Stardock said they wouldn't release games in an unfinished state, and here we have a game that's IMO somewhat less then finished. You can't do modding and multiplayer at the same time, how is that "finished"? It's their Gamer's Bill of Rights, don't get mad at
Your definition of LAN support is different. Nowhere does he state that you can play peer-to-peer on the same LAN at release without an Internet connection. Nobody really knows yet. But we do know that at release, it appears to be impossible to run multiplayer mods as the custom server option isn't ready yet . AFAIK the python scripting modding option also isn't going to be in at release. Take that how you will.
It's not really semantics. It's right there in the abbreviation; Local Area Network. If you require internet access of any kind, there's really no LAN support whatsoever. Servers doesn't have to be on the internet, they can be a part of a local area network. And I have been on many LANs without (stable) connection to the internet, especially when you're having a LAN where you may simply not be able to have all computers hooked up at
