How do I build farms, mines, and research centers? These can be built on resource tiles (fertile land, iron mine, gold mine, lost library, and arcane... something?). Once you have a city border that includes it, click on the *resource tile* and you'll see the build option there. You can't build them from the city build screen.

The threshold is how many people have to be in a fight before it gives you the option of tactical combat. If you always want that option, set it as low as possible (should be the far left). :)

Ironically I was alt+tabbing out to tell a friend about how things were a lot more stable when I got the alt+tab crash bug. C'est la vie. There's a known issue with ATI hardware there. But when I didn't alt+tab I had no problems anymore, so it is definitely improved since before the last patch. I know I already posted, but the last game I just played had some neat stuff I think. I founded a city, went out to recruit some guys, got ambushed and nearly killed by a wandering thief.. imbu

Agreed about the "not fun" part of constant missing. There's a bunch of ideas to fix that, such as splitting hit and damage rolls into two things, and having a minimum damage if you manage to connect. You won't be able to one shot that guy in heavy armor, but you also just won't do nothing most of the time either.

Multiplayer will be up next week. The patch yesterday fixed a lot of the crash problems. Some ATI hardware on Windows 7 64 bit still might be having some issues, but there's a lot fewer problems today then yesterday. I'd say that if you're concerned about the hardware issue, wait for a demo. If you want a perfect game right now, I'd say wait a couple months. Food is a "perishable" resource in Elemental. You can't stockpile it. +5 means that you're producing 5 more then you're using. In this regard it works different from every other resource, which you can stockpile. When you build housing in a city, it uses some of that food. People then come to the houses and your population goes up. Building more farms on fertile land resources as well as researching various techs increase the amount of food you get. In the campaign, you can't learn magic until the campaign plot turns it on. When you can, it'll tell you. In sandbox games, you can learn spells right away as ddd describes.
