If you're ever thinking about getting into the industry... don't. People working crazy hours is surprisingly normal. I barely see one of my best friends right now due to this. 7 day work weeks are not cool. :(

"Imbue" is a spell you have. It transfers essence to a champion, giving them the ability to cast spells. If you then gain them some levels and increase their essence, they can do it too and you can farm up a team of casters.
1. Changes to the combat system to make damage less spikey and unpredictable. Probably won't happen in September due to how much that would change the game. 2. Caster oriented items (like +Intellect staves) in the core game, rather then just as mods. 3. A healing oriented spellbook. Also obviously bugfixes for things like shards. :)
MP is a listed feature, it should be turned on.
Actually, it can happen the other way around in Civilization games, but people seem to forget that underneath the hood, the game is just crunching numbers, and it doesn't care what graphic happens to be associated with those numbers. So if the spearman unit happens to have high numbers in the proper column then it can defeat a flying unit, but we're talking an upgraded spearman unit with a high defensive bonus versus a newbie helicopte
The city only has 50 tiles, you might be out of space? If you check in the bottom left the city's level bar will tell you how much more housing you need for the next level.
Maybe, but you do get honest feedback, and not just feedback from closed beta testers (and fan boys) who are more interested in pleasing SD than giving them the feedback they need, with the tone they need it in. Professional testers would have told them right away how clunky and poorly delivered some parts of the game are, like the complete inconsistency in how end of turn announcements and events are handled. How much of the ga
As a small-time modder, I have a very important question to you, Frogboy: will there be significant changes to the combat mechanics? (I'm thinking unit groups, but not only). I've spent some time working on balance, but if the combat mechanics are redesigned (which I really, really hope they will, as a wargamer), I will save my time and wait until the patch is released instead (and mod something else).
There's a note in a threa
Does your wife know you're writing this? ;) I can see it now: "Honey I'm just going to get a beer." *Sneaks on Internet*
The best cities to level up are the ones that have a resource. If they have several of the same resource, level them up as far as you can. Because each bonus stacks multiplicatively, taking the same bonus each time results in massive production increases. For cities that don't have a resource, the food is usually better spent on a city that does have one.
Well, one of them is turn based and the other one isn't. That should probably be your decision maker. But I'd go with SOASE.
A lot of the blame can be laid upon the fanboys during beta.. instead of being bluntly honest about the quality of this game most just wanted to suck up to the people with a stardock logo in their avatar. Your blind loyalty really paid off.. this game had potential.
The biggest problems are gameplay stuff in late game, and that never really happened in beta. The beta schedule was big on tech testing, but never had a real
I don't doubt that there are many bugs in the game and the "balance" could be better (right now, balance is an ethereal concept since MP hasn't been activated--play the game responsibly and choose not to equip yourself with a huge number of rings, which is basically cheating, whether the game lets you do it or not). But Stardock will continue to make improvements long after other studios have moved on. My experience since I bought the
It's a fun issue. If it took 200 turns for your kids to reach maturity, the system would be largely a waste of time.
They couldn't. It was August or February, no other choice.
Given the lack of retail availability (ie: none) everywhere outside the US, I wonder if they just don't bother with retail next time. Then you can release whenever you want, and there's no street date issue.
Part of the problem here was that the beta testers kindof lied in terms of how things were going. There were way too many 'yes men'. There was almost no beta to speak of, and yet most beta testors still seemed to expect greatness. Here's Denryu's poll from the end of beta. Most people seemed to assume the game would be ready. https://forums.elementalgame.com/390463/page/1/#2709273 The thing is, I hav
Morale is kind of strange, yeah. Once combat starts it ignores what is going on and continues to change based on the original state of the fight, which makes very little sense. If I just killed their biggest baddest guys, shouldn't my morale go up?
For me the game just need to start using more than 5% of my gpu and get some decent performance.
There was a mention on IRC and I think in the last dev journal that they found a tweak in the engine that adds something like 10FPS. Performance is definitely something that's being worked on. :)
Yes, it is the same weight. It's actually rolled 0-max, not 1-max. Defense is rolled the same way, so it can get very unpredictable. There's some threads in the ideas forum about this, hop over and contribute your ideas. :)
XP is split evenly among everybody who can earn it, so if it was XP it should be the same for sovereigns/champions and 0 for normal units. I'm really not sure what it is either. It's kind of a mystery.

Had this been Blizzard, Firaxis, Valve or even Bioware and had they released a game in this condition, their day one reviews would have been very bad, vicious even, but less tentative. It seems that the is a bit of a `Poor wittddle Bwad`s game faww down - puir thing.. lets give the widdle guy more time, okies. Seriously if SC
Quoting BoydofZINJ, reply 48 I will give SD credit for not giving up. However, why am I paying for a beta? Why was the game released this early. Allow me to pose this question...would you rather they had not released the game, and waited 3 months while they work on it? Or, pay and have the game now and at least be able to play it while they work on it and release patches...? <
