How many of you 'yes' people would honestly play TBS multiplayer mode for more than just a day or a week?
Played Civ 4 online for a couple of years. The gameplay works pretty well in coop because you can play with friends who also like the genre, and thus long games aren't a problem. So yeah, I don't see a problem there. Civ 4 worked quite well as a MP game, and nobody was complaining about it being gimped in SP.
Not sure if SD supports it, but I have seen many games that allow you to do LAN play with one purchased game.
They don't, in Elemental. Sins of a Solar Empire did. IIRC Demigod did too. (Though really since both of those had LAN support it wasn't realistic to try and stop it, but it's still a very player-friendly policy to allow it and helps get your friends into games.)
But doesn't everyone have some sort of a LAN these days?
That'd require the game to support LAN play, which it doesn't. Besides, hotseat only requires one copy of the game. Online requires one per player.

Players that want X feature can have it, and if it really really sucks, they won't enable it in the end. This isn't just a gameplay decision, it's also a PR decision! Clearly a group of players wishes to shoot themselves in the foot*: allow them to do so, though not by default. By not
As for MP, I wonder what percentage of Elemental players wish to play primarily MP, what percentage wish to play a couple of games, and what percentage don't want to play at all. I would bet that probably 1% want to play a lot of MP Elemental, 10% might want to play a game or two, and the vast majority have no desire at all to play multipler. Far as I know, it doesn't work well at all if the unit isn't stationary, and it certainly won't be on a bus. Would probably work alright on a plane, except for the battery life. As for phones, what people forget is that most people already have a phone. It's not a $300 expense just to play games, it's something you're already getting for some other reason that also happens to play games. As the power of the phones keeps increasing, they reach a point where it's "good enough" for a lot

You have to spend 20 hours levelling your zerglings (or spend $15 at the item store) before you can learn the "hydralisk" talent. Of course, before you can deploy hydralisks you need to learn the plans for a hydralisk den building, and that requires you to do daily quests (in the form of a single player RTS level) to grind reputation with the hydralisk den builders (or spend $10 at the item store). Once you finish that, you can start on the mutalisk grind! Don't plan on banelings thou
Its interesting that Nintendo is rolling out an expensive handheld this expensive at the same time as the entire handheld game market is facing serious trouble from gaming on phones .
I almost think E:WoM would be better off if they stopped trying to fix it and instead devoted their energy into making it into a modding platform, then leaving it for the community to fix. There's just so much balance problems and loose ends, but the core engine is full of possibility. Best case scenario we could end up with a dozen awesome variations of Elemental while SD continues to improve the engine and tools. I haven't given up hope
I dunno. The forum is about PC games. This is a PC game. OP is quite up front and honest about it. It's not like astroturfing where he pretends to be someone unrelated who just stumbled on the game. I don't really have a problem with it.
This is one thing that Civ 5 did REALLY well. The notifications that required attention came up as icons that you could deal with sometime during the turn, but not right away. The ones that you had to deal with still blocked your turn from ending until you took care of them, but they didn't pop up right away and interrupt what you're doing (or pop up and interrupt dealing with another popup). It's probably too late to do that in Elemental, but they could reduce the number of things th

When stuff is new, things tend to be done manually. If Impulse only has to get a couple games a week up, you don't need a lot of automation to do it. But it would take a lot of people to scale up a manual process. They probably invested in automation tools to require less human interaction to get
Hi. :) If you've got the Impulse client installed, just run that. You should have an Elemental download option in the games area. It downloads the most recent release version, so you will already have 1.1.
I thought that Ironclad didn't want to do another Sins game. I wonder what the announcement is going to be then?
