Good post. Yes, the AI in MoM was always disappointing and pathetic. What made me come back to play the game again and again, and even now on occasion is the world exploring. MoM had a very rich world for the time with lots of different units and spells and lots of things to find on the map in any given game. This is a HUGE point FE has going for it that War of Magic did not.

Whatever has to be done needs to balance champions downwards, and armies upwards. Champions should be changed from a static hiring cost, to a cost per turn same as units. Selling yourself an upfront cost for a lifetime of servitude is silly. I agree with the earlier idea of making Champions heal slower than units. It makes sense that in a unit you can replace a man and injuries are spread out amongst a group. When you rely on one star player, they have to heal fully. U

I'd be interested to see some of the names of long time beta testers incorporated in: Wintersingers (Spellcasting Ice Elementals?) Ravens (Summoned Earth magic scouting unit) Frogmen (& Boys)
The game needs a treasure room UI element where you can dump your loot. Similar to the shop. It should be accessible from any city and if your regular army gets loot it should end up there.
Great idea. You should make a suggestion thread for it.

So a few bugs with this. Pioneers seem to randomly lose health in the winterlands and disappear off the map. They show under the economy manager as 1 health pioneers. WHen loading the save game the wrong quest appears. The Fire Lord is there (but I can't find him on the map) and the winter quest no longer loads. The Winter quest can not be completed and the region can not be "pioneered" for settlements or forts.<img src="http://i493.photobucket.com/a

It isn't cumulative in .76, but it is in .77 In the game I just played I got the Winter Lord's health down by a third with this. Then he one shotted the champion (took half her health off the first hit, I healed it, then he one shotted her).

So I was testing out the "Mountain" spell and discovered it had to be cast in my territory, so I canceled it. Then I discovered that the mana cost was spent even though I didn't cast the spell and it was canceled.

Day 1 of Patch .77 I played 3 games for starters, Irane, Procipinee, Procipinee. If Irane or Procipinee can't find a melee champion early on in the game, then they're almost guaranteed dead with the new aggressive monsters. Procipinee's free enchantments doesn't make up for her weak defense and 1 or 2 points of damage if she has to fight... anything. Haste and Slow are great if there are units to actually buff up. Lad

Tried the spearman, she they still can get owned easily by low level encounters. Give her a melee champion to buff and they become an insanely powerful duo however. So far games with her have been a random map gamble. If she gets a decent champion she gets incredibly powerful and can focus on development techs early on. If not you have to get military units and focus on military units and even then have a bad chance of getting wiped out by random monsters.

Growth/haste is great on archer units. But the healing is pathetic. It needs a mana cost decrease and/or a massive upgrade to the amount of health gained. Seriously, a magical heal is equivalent to... eating salted pork in combat?
I still say all magic schools should have 1 damaging spell for early game survival of a pure caster sovereign. An ice shard (hell, even a hard-packed snowball!) or earthen rock/stone would help diversify what people are using in the game.
Have to agree with this, Procipinee is incredibly weak if she doesn't happen across a melee champ.
Complaint 1: Champions vs. Everyone else It’s a fine line. You want champions to matter but you don’t want to make it about collecting champions and steam rolling. The basic problem I see is that champions have too much base HP imo. We used to have it a lot less but then they were pointless. So it’s something we’re placing with.
Well, first problem is lumping all the Champions together. I dare you t

The "Paths" need to be a lot more unique with unique abilities and weaknesses rather than just some stats. My Champions fall into three categories: Melee Murderers Explosive Fire Mage of Death The Supporting Cast Currently: You can't make a good archer champion. You can't make an Assassin, Warrior, or Defender really stand out from each other that much. My last game had 1 earth shard, 2 wate

Day 1 of patch .76 Started with Lady Irane. After founding a city I noticed all the grain/material scores everywhere I could see disappeared. I traveled out a ways and found shrines. Should I report this as a bug? It didn't happen in my second game except in the areas immediately around my first city. Lady Irane's first recruit was a "spellcaster" who of course couldn't cast spells without being imbued. However, becaus

3 Problems I would like to solve with one Suggestion: I've been wondering why in the world some characters would have spell casting ability and spell knowledge if you could only ever cast a spell if a channeler imbued you. Storywise it made no sense. Now with .76 I trade a game with Lady Irane and got a "Mage" champion who couldn't do anything without being imbued. Also, I've run out of mana a few times with auto-resolve and had my casters left

I like it in the game, but I look forward to tweaking it. The hit chance needs to be reduced after each successful hit or something. My sovereign's early game army was destroyed by an upgraded butcherman unit with Maul. My sovereign of about 60 hit points was taken down in a single around with -4 to -10 damage hits. Maul + High accuracy = pure death.
I just don't understand how the city building part of the game is supposed to be fun. It wasn't fun in WoM, and hasn't changed significantly in FE. The other parts of FE I like, or believe they will be fixed. Combat has a good basis, it just needs to be tweaked to make it more engaging, a bit more visceral. Magic seems about right, just needs a lot of balancing. The world is quite good, just needs more content and balancing. [/quot

In Master of Orion 2 you could assign a governor to a solar system. We would need to limit a city to having just one governor and tie their fates together. As the city gets more population, the governor gets more XP. One governor might suppress unrest allowing you to pump tax rate, another might greatly increase research or production. It was an interesting and fun part of MoO2.

Everything is overpowered right now just about. Well not archer champions or governors. Keep in mind the next patch will also increase a lot of monster levels and improve other civilizations AI.
