Playing the Alpha build at PAX there was a pre-encounter screen that asked how you wanted to handle the encounter. Given this was random world wandering monsters and not the static quest/dungeon encounters. What happened was if I encounter a random monster it told me what it was (I.E. Giant Spiders!) and if I want to Flee, Parley, or Fight. So if they don't have at least that much for dungeons/quests when they have it for wandering monsters I'll be surprised.
I've flown the most paranoid Israeli airlines in the world... and they aren't nearly as much hassle. More invasive, but less hassle. I brought back a full bottle of Maple syrup and they took it out of my luggage and questioned me about it. Then they took it off for testing because they considered it low threat and gave it back to me. I mean yes, you can fit all kinds of bad things even in a 3oz bottle.. but a lot of those bad things don't even need the 3oz bottle and could just as eas
Yeah, I'm just put off by the trope of "this is the good race" this is "the bad race". Choice is good, or even a variation among the factions so that you could choose your own mix as you could in Galciv. Plus in Galciv even if you played an evil race, your choices could swing your alignment.
Forgboy has gained a level in gaming! I thought it was rather funny that you were surprised at the number of people having read the Silmarillion. It is great seeing how much you love your games too, that is how the best games get made! Enjoy it now because if you release Elemental next summer, the swarms of freshly enthused fans I bet will be much much bigger at next year's PAX.
Because the pre-order is $10 cheaper at PAX if you pay by card! [e digicons]XD[/e] I made the mistake last year of buying the Political Machine the week before PAX to tide me over and then found it half the price at PAX. I can use that excuse to go back to PAX and pay the parking prices too because I'm saving money by pre-ordering there. :) Plus I want another chance at those backpacks they have.
I've always loved the humor in the temporary text the guys at Stardock add. The factions all seemed pretty neat. My only complaint about them is they were all too straightforward with good/evil. I would have liked to have seen some token evil human civilizations and some token good (redeemed?) Fallen civilizations.
Wish I'd gotten a better picture of the terrain tile modding but here you go: The whole game looked awesome. It was clearly an Alpha with game crashes on display. But everything looked awesome and even things like the mundane tech tree showed that Stardock has learned a lot from Galciv 2 and improved on it massively. When I get back to PAX today ther first thing I'm doing is placing m
I nuked that ogre and his entire town with a Volcano spell. It was a lot of fun to play even the early Alpha of the game they had on display. Tomorrow night I intend to post a bunch of pictures that I got of Elemental from PAX while the Stardock people are still enjoying a long flight. Though I'm disappointed I haven't won an awesome Stardock backpack yet! [IMG]http://i493.photobucket.c
Nice, a few I hadn't seen before.
Look forward to seeing the presentation at PAX on Saturday. Will these be held at the stardock booth or do you have a room reserved?
I go with #2 because it evokes the mood of the dark creepy forest better for me. Bother are good in their own way and both have problems. In #2 the brightness of the rooftops contrasts with the darkness of the forest. Where as the roofs should be bright in #1 and more brightness in general surrounding the desert. I think what you need is some kind of appropriate weather simulator. Deserts are usually ALWAYS bright and sunny. When it isn't watch out for flash flooding. (that co
