@rogue captain great idea s in link. Yes. Another aspect of this might be the 'limited/regional war.' The idea here is that a dispute over a specific area is happening. Both (all) parties agree to limit the conflict to that area. Total war actions allowed in that area, but no where else. How to define 'area?' Perhaps use the city in question as a source of borders emmenating f

Thank you for the feedback Steven & Elana. I posted this on the Elemental forums exclusively because I want Stardock to be the first to use it and Stardock to take credit for this inclusion to the strategy genre. If they don't some competitor eventually will and then they'll take all the credit .[e digicons]8C[/e] Brad stated he wants Elemental to be the top 4x game of the year. To do that it really helps to have some spe
The old border/culture dilemma. If I may shamelessly promote a former but original solution: https://forums.elementalgame.com/388453 This is a must have for 4x games! Why hasn't it been done already? GAME EVOLUTION DEMANDS IT!
I thought about the name criminals too, but it really depends a lot on what kind of effects the non-worker non-farmer citizens cause and what kind of effects buildings have on them.
Rebel would be the next logical step up from criminal as now they are an active threat working against the state instead of a benign criminal one that produces nothing of value and lives off of the fruits of others.&n
CRIMINALS! I say criminals are better than rebels because then we have a legitimate excuse to make dungeons and what fantasy game would be without dungeons no? Plus rebels in fantasy plots too often are the heroes/lead characters unlike the sovereign. In game, think of contented happiness as affecting the crime rate.
I always enjoy your threads BK even though I don't often agree with them and rarely post. Be warned this is going to be one of those walls of text. That aside, I have played a famous tbs game where Teleport was (mostly) successful and the lead is now employed at Stardock. Fall from Heaven 2 did have a city teleport system that was balanced because the game's tech trees were so very divergent, awfully expensive, and independent from eac
Maybe it's a sexist thing then? I've noticed the other infamous mary sues out there seem to dance around it but female characters get absolutely butchered for getting too close at times.
After watching the seasons of the new Dr Who and carefully observing all the new Dr Who characters, I can safely say I now have figured out what the Doctor's real name is. *drum roll* The Doctor's real name is..... Mary Sue .
Any details yet on how the terraforming spells will work? Specifically, will it be like Populous where you have to raise a mountain slowly level by level or will it be an instant one shot like WOM mountain raising? I can't remember the name of the quest spell.
Sc2 with Battlenet2.0 is a legit case. The graphical user interface was designed to promote the DLC maps to the top of the visible list at the expense of any easy access to the community maps. The result is a very frustrating experience despite any DLC has yet to be released with only a small handful of maps getting played and a very upset mod community. Only case where the DLC ruined it BEFORE it came out.
Just wanted to point out an often overlooked but important detail. WMD spells do have some checks making them somewhat less effective and more strategic in this game by the way cities mechanics are laid out. Because each square is only a small part of a very large city, you'd have to destroy it piece by piece or resort to using a super spell like volcano. So every time I sink/raise the land I would only destroy X squares of buildings from the targeted ci
I remember back in SC1 how scary invading the zerg beast seemed with my terran marines the first time. The buildings were giant organs, some beating hearts, others blood canals reaching from one stretch of the map to the other. It left this strange feeling of old SciFi movies such as Fantastic Voyage. Like being a microcosm insect inside a giant body and the body is fighting back with all it's defenses. So very alien. Now zerg are completely insectoid and the
I'd like to see the movie. Too bad it's only a video game. We definitely need better SciFi. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGzpzlvf0Gs
Play through the campaign first then go multiplayer. By time you're done you will know if you want to play Terran or Protoss.
Overpopulation? Look, given the current numbers of reproduction rates, that is mathematically improbable. Deutsche Bank issued a report in May detailing the global population will no longer be replacing itself in the 2020s. [ http://www.scribd.com/doc/55392761/Demografia-No-Mundo ] “In our view, the human race will no longer be replacing itself by the early 2020s. Population growth will co
There are plenty of population reductions mechanisms already implemented. Ever heard of BPA or Biphenol-A? You see those population control methods trickling down into the ecosystems of the animal kingdom causing considerable ecodamage to the planet. Ironic no? Frogs born with both sexes or next to no male equipment, fresh water fish now suffering the same problems,

Any chance we will see a memory lane cutscene(s) consisting of scenes from our playthrough in animated picture book style? Possibly with a narrator? Cutscenes always build more rappot when the player directly identifies with them.
Why oh why do people and institutions store such information in a network. For that matter, why is it every time a security bill is being drafted up something wild happens to justify it?
Let us know if our advice was any help Brad.
I used to fix apple products among others and here's the raw deal. It may work fine now but once the machine gets substantial flood/water damage it is only a matter of time until it's fubar and Apple will know when you send it in. If the bag of rice to absorb moisture trick works well then I suggest you do it every night before you go to sleep to prolong the life out of it as much as possible. My story: When this happened to my ipod I opened it up in such
Maybe tactical combat would be better suited for any fights with at least one hero with either party else it falls to the nontactical kind.
Guys seriously, these concerns about Stuxnet are minimal. Stuxnet was specifically designed for a type of centrifuge that nobody uses except Iran and it was in a big desperation attempt to reset the nuclear timetables. The following investigations led to the US, Isreal, UK and to a very small degree France alongside Germany. You don't have to worry about big doomsday scenarios with Stuxnet because it is not compatible with anything else out there. Stuxnet is
Online casinos are hated by politicians not because they shelter potentially questionable activity but because they are making a lot of nontaxable income that they feel should be taxed. Can you imagine if the whole domestic gambling industry went online and nontaxable? The financial loss would cause our leaders to riot. What other industries would follow in its wake? Taking money from a pet program is seen like stealing from the politicians own personal piggy bank.&nbs
Will monsters require more than ca$h to produce this time around? Will food consumption rates be in to make them more unique and balanced?
