My ally needs gold and has an abundance of metal. We trade one for the other. Why is this so difficult or unsavory? "Need" is a 3 month coding process, minimum otherwise you'd just have players exploiting it. I've written

Yeah, we really need to get some actual tactical battles. But Derek has said this won't go in because coding the AI would take a long time. That means it's likely that it'll happen at some point when Brad feels the AI for existing systems is decent, but probably not before the second expansion.

Those are some delicious tooltips, they look great and should be really helpful. It's good to see tech taking longer. I've always played with tech acquisition on the slowest setting, but I'm glad that's now becoming a part of the core gameplay paradigm and should get appropriate attention. The new clothmap icons (the lock, and the purple wolf's head) don't seem to fit the clothmap's aesthetic well. Perhaps you could make them look more like glass bea

AoW has a hell of a lot more to its battles than Elemental does, first of all. The maps are not flat - there are walls and buildings. There are lots of spells and abilities that alter the map and the way in which units traverse the map. And even with those features, far beyond anything we've seen so far in Elemental, you often end up commanding your soldiers to just walk forward and attack with no need to consider tactics of any kind.

And it is not possible to walk from A C, unless there is jumping/climb

Because they are limited. And all that death will do is cause a reset. Now, if they "can't escape", have no other towns to go to, then they should go back to being free agents, or be hired by the nation that defeated their old one. No death. &n

I want this too. Adding abilities to the game is all well and good, but if we wanted that we'd be better off playing Pokemon. Elemental, even in the upcoming iteration (judging from everything we've heard of it) needs a hell of a lot more before it can be said to have tactical battles in the literal sense. Regarding the guy in the video's criticism of the humor: It's more like it's humor about the characters than about the references dropped. The main character just happens to be a reference-dropping guy, because he contextualizes things in terms of his experiences. And the references
