Well this is an old thread but the game has been out a good while now. I've got to say, I've had a ton of fun with it. Micromanagement is mostly gone aside from things that actually make a difference in terms of strategic choice – common things like rituals can be set to repeat, and tax rates and gemgen items are gone. It's got several new nations compared to Dom3, and more continuously, so it gets more and more worth the price every update. And it's on sale reasonably o
The easiest answer to the sensor boat issues would be to make sensor modules 1 per ship. You could stack multiple tech levels, but not multiples of the same. Thus last game you could still build the sensor systems you need for bigger maps, but only the smallest maps could give unreasonably large reveal. I've only found sensor boats really necessary early game on one specific setup. Abundant pirate
Just a question by a consumer who bought Fallen Enchantress and FE:Legendary Heroes only recently: How much of the timeline is available to being retconned/changed and how much is set in stone? I just found it very annoying that three of my favourite characters apparently have bad ends (Ceresa, Irane, Procipinee)and the one character that I really truly dislike won everything in the

It looks like a great start so far, but I don't know if we're seeing enough to give much more feedback than that.

Seems like there's a lot of negativity in this thread. Sure, some folks have a tough time with things and take it out on other people. Does that make them worse people? Well maybe, but ain't nobody perfect. As for anonymity, it's also the boon of the internet. It allows people to make and do things which will be judged on their own merits, not on a person's reputation, whether that be positive or negative.

I have a 360 but it seems like there's not much point in consoles any more. Every game worth playing on consoles is released on PC too. And considering there's already lots of PCs with better hardware than the new consoles are rumored to have, that'll probably continue to be the case.

If your bunny slippers don't fit, removing them is a good option - you could even exchange them for another size. Similarly, if you think bunny slippers don't fit the game, well, you seem to have missed a number of silly events, but you can cut them out of the code pretty easily I reckon, I don't think the item format is changing.

There is a LOT of watching paint dry for some countries.
Yeah, try playing a Native American state. Some initial conquest, then like 12 hours of mucking about on another screen and occasionally spending mana on tech or ideas as you can, and then suddenly your nation is destroyed by Europeans in like an hour.<
How can designers think such an an ugly UI in (nearly) 2014 is good enough?
Presumably they're attempting to sell their game on gameplay, not aesthetics. It's still a better UI than Dwarf Fortress after all, and few people contest that that's a good game, at least for its niche.

Yeah, Paradox games are usually buggy at release. Unless you're a super-fan you should usually wait for like a year to get them. Naturally I've been playing EU4 since the day it came out. :) As for it progressing slowly, that's a feature, not a bug. The only game aspect which I think is all that bad is the leader mana, which is stretched way too far. Idea groups and tech do the same thing, there's no reason from a game design perspective why you should be choosing betw

Well, I enjoyed Enemy Unknown and will be getting this. It's more stuff and some of it looks real fun, while others are nice options if nothing else. But at that price point I don't think I'll be getting it until it goes on sale.

Honestly, it seems like a fine new iteration and I would buy it on it's own merits, even if the price point is a bit high. However I've heard too many bad things about their DRM, with people having to buy the game three times because they get locked out of it erroneously detected as pirates, and the company ignoring emails about it. As much as I admire the design goals of the game and how they go about it, I can't justify giving money to a company like that.

It was the first PC game I ever played, and that pretty much started me on the path of strategy gaming. +1 for Pacov's suggestion.
The franchise branding has devalued substantially due to spiritual successors Supreme Commander and now Planetary Annihilation. Being able to slap the TA name on something isn't worth that much.

Yeah, it was clearly aiming to feel like a certain kind of science fiction that stopped being popular some decades ago. It's good if you like that sort of thing, but not that good for most folks.
