I still think this is too much money for any DLC that isn't a huge overhaul or adds a lot of new features. I also don't really want pre-made maps to start with. I'm curious, therefore, about the other thing included - the stamps. How do boats work, are they a new stamp I could encounter on a random map?

It's really just because of the stereotypical "Grrl Gamer" figure, who doesn't know much about games but plays them for attention from guys, or the woman who uses her sexuality rather than actual competence to get a job or to market a game. The fact of the matter is there are women like that - and there have been high profile cases of game developers using attractive women to try to sell their game. Note Jessica Chobot's inclusion in Mass Effect 3, for example. Or the case of Jade

Yeah, with falling prices and some software improvement, kindles have got their little market pretty well cornered at this point. It's interesting to be able to read for years of opinions in one short thread, though. Personally I read Kindle books on my phone, and only when a physical copy of the book isn't available, but I know there's a fair few people who like to be able to slide their dataslate out and read a book, even in non-travel situations. Lots of folks don't

We had something similar here in California, before Proposition 30 (a tax to fund schools) was passed, some colleges emailed out information saying that if it wasn't passed and the planned budget cuts went into affect, tuition would rise and teachers would have to be let go, or if it was passed then tuition could be lowered back to what it was last year. It's a straightforward heads up on what could happen, but some people got all up in arms about that being a violation of the educati

I wonder if some of the Stormworld stuff (and potentiall other people's stuff as well) could be vanilla in addition to its main purpose? I know there's usually demand in games for small enhancement mods that don't substantially change the flavor of a game the way Stormworld does.

Are you saying we get the expansion to FE as wel

When you say this map is gigantic, how big are we talking? Also, are larger sizes for randomly generated maps a thing that can happen?

[quote quoting="post"] The Map Pack We will be releasing our first-ever DLC for a Stardock game. It’ll be an interesting experiment to see what the demand is. Paul Boyer and I have designed a series of hand crafted maps that will be going up for sale in a week or two for $4.99. If sales of this are strong, we’ll look at doing additional DLC packs. A game like Fallen Enchantress lends itself to content centric DLC and so we’re anxious to se

He'll probably get over it by himself. But it might mean he's lacking in social interaction, a lot of bronies are. If that's the case, try getting him into some organized group that he'll enjoy - a sport would be the traditional example of this but any activity in a group setting is fine. Whatever you do though, don't make a big deal about it.

I'd like Stardock to expand this stuff themselves in an update. I installed all of this besides the circles around city spells, which I like better the default way, and the spellbook looks to silly for me, but it really should be able to hold more. Especially since most of the UI space in the current system is wasted on "magical" text which means nothing. A better solution for the spellbook, although this may not be possible for modders, would be to decrease the width of the spell

[quote who="Mtn_Man" reply="2" id="3265610"]It's looking like Stardock can legitimately add "critically acclaimed" to Fallen Enchantress' resume. Scores in the 80% range are generally considered excellent for a niche game like this. I pretty much agree with Brad here, regarding the social effects of internet, but I notice a lot of people (who also agree) seem to be taking this as "People are rude on the internet and that's horrible!" I don't really agree with that. Some people, because of the culture on the forum or their real life culture or whatever, can espouse perfectly coherent views with language or an apparent attitude that might seem rude to you, and indeed might not be very polite. And people can

That quote is basically how I feel about FE too. Also unfortunately true: "With little room for tactical creativity, the battles are more of a chance to see the units you’ve designed and heroes you’ve customized in action than a whole second side of the game." It's sad, but Derek focused on merely reorganizing the basic systems and ignored opportunities to add real tactical depth. It's better than WoM, but it could be fa

You know, I agree with the specific case of this as it relates to Stardock's current legal dispute. But I do think that "They hate because they're haters, so I don't need to listen to them" is a dangerous viewpoint to take. There are certainly people like that, but there are also people with legitimate criticisms that might merely be wrapped in vitriol for whatever reason, be it (sub)cultural or due to emotion. I feel it's important to be careful that you don't ignore good
