By the way, one thing I would really like to see added to spice up the landscape are unique geographical features, some possibly tied to the Cataclysm itself. Perhaps a volcanically active region where the planet's crust is thin and lava flows freely, or perhaps a great rift in the earth. These would be unique features that wouldn't show up in every game. Some may be relatively mundane, apart from being a navigation obstacle, but

The problem apparently fixed itself today. However, the last couple day only the recent posts would be displayed. The Elemental and Misc catagories were not being shown.

My point is it is hard to make judgement on something that isn't even 50% complete. Beta 1Z will be out this week and then stuff will probably more complete, and likely to be completely different then what we had before. I think it's jumping the gun to start really analyzing the dynasty system when it's barely there at all. For example, Stardock said the dynasty system in build 1G(what we have now) is there basically so that the code is available. In the future you will be able to cho
plus beta one is comming to a close they aounced it in the journal.. on there web page, this type of stuff will only get fixed probly in beta 1 not in the mutilplayer part of the beta or part of beta that gets gfxs engine implmented.
No, not at all. The beta schedule is when things will be implemented, but gameplay will be tweaked throughout the beta.

Remember, this is beta. The Dynasty system is hardly implemented right now and building times are mostly placeholders. Things like this will polished as the beta goes on.
Quoting Myles, reply 42 Then why do you feel it's any better to steal it over the internet? The simple fact that you're guaranteed to not to get caught? Well, there's no guarantee there but yeah that has something to do with it... I wonder if all the anti-pirates here are perfect law-abiding citizens in other aspects of life. Do you speed? It's against the law... Smoke weed? Against the law!&n

You may not be depriving them of a phsyical item that could be sold to someone else, but at the end of the day you're still taking advantage of their work while refusing to compensate them, and doing so purely for your own pleasure. And if the game is so horrible it brings you no pleasure; then what?
I

'This is footage from an early beta of Elemental. At this point, the pretty 3D graphics are disabled,...' Oh, my mistake then, although I don't get that "cloth map" thing. It seemed bizarre why would anyone disable all of the visuals or why would that option even exist to

11 Replies 7,781 Views

Seriously? Have you payed any attention to the game? Obviously not, or else you would know that the betas up to this point are using only the cloth map and not the actual graphics engine.

irek- As Savyg said, we do know that Impulse Reactor will not require the Impulse Client. That's one of it's advertised features is to offer the services of Steamworks without the requied client. Also, Impulse is not required to start games. You can download/update a game and then remove Impulse and everything works fine.
Actually, originally everything except the draft age was 21. That got dropped because of the argument 'if they're old enough to die for their country...' and the alcohol age hasn't caught up. And given the stupidity college students get into every year, I'd be temped to raise the alcohol age, not lower it!
I can tell you for a fact that only 20 or so years ago that the drinking age in the US was 18. I have nothing against people being carded for certain goods despite how I feel about many age restrictions in general. The guy with a full beard may well be only 17. However, if someone is clearly of age, as in this case where the man is over 50, what are you achieving except holding people up?
It doesn't go against the lore of the game. It doesn't say that only magic users can be leaders. Let us say you play as a leader of the people who can't use magic. No one of them. At all. Doesn't lore allow groups of people no one of which can use magic? Let it be more difficult, ok. If you care about the word Sovereign, we could call it something different, a King or a Leader.
As wintersong said, yes it does. Soverigns
It's not quite what I meant. Why can't you have a sovereign who _is not able_ (it's not just ignoring something that you actually CAN) to use magic at all, but instead gets advantages to economy or research or something. Magic is still an integral part of the game, it's just that you chose someone who can't use it (probably it should be noted that this is only for experienced players and whatnot). I don't see anything wrong with thi

I suspect the update shouldn't take very long compared to having the full client. Just to clear something up - The Soverign is, for the scope of this game, immortal. However, he will die eventually, it's just that the time span in-game is nowhere near long enough for that to be a problem.

debug.err dxdiag I cant upload my dmp file to pastebin and the crash submital site wants me to login to do anything, but basically a crash after I clicked to complete my turn. Happened roughly 50 turns into the game with a custom soverign, using Gildon(?). I had 2 cities and had recently had declared war upon, but I dont remember from who.

I'd like for trails and dirt roads to develop organically, but major roads with good bonuses to army movement would need to be built. Having military units do it would seem the easiest way rather then having a seperate unit for it.
