But I don't want it to be like Civ 4. i mean, I think this game can do so much more, and Civ 4 didn't do such a bang up job imo.
It's already better than civ4 since resources are finite. I was originally in favor of camp 1, and still am to an extent. However, I am begining to be convinced by the other side that all that stuff doesn't add much the game that can't be accomplished nearly the same w

I think the only difference from what your suggesting and whats planned is that you want the resource to be had before doing the research. I personally think either way is fine, though I think the current plan is that you build stables on the resource rather than in the city. With the way Elemental is being setup, races won't always have X mounts or even X units since they must be designed before being built - no faction inheriantly has horsemen.
Just to add, but mounts are planned anyways. I'm not sure on how much variety is planned, but if they've been listening to the foum they better have bear calvary [e digicons][/e]
I have no doubt the IPad does a good job at what it is, that is, a glorified IPhone that doesn't make phone calls. But to say it will replace laptops and such is rediculous.

At 4 turns per year, figure 52 turns for a girl and 60 for a boy - way too short a time for a kid to go from an infant to a playable unit.
I disagree. 180 turns is way to
I've noticed that, but I'd rather that than ascii.

Also, reapers require early tech labs, so you know your opponent won't have too many forces guarding his base if you see a reaper that early into the game. I've watched about four hundred games from the Terran perspective (mostly in platinum), and almost none of them go for this supposedly great quick reaper against P
Quoting Myles, reply 7There's some decent graphics packs out there. They don't make it king's bounty(lol @ hortz), but at least it's not ascii anymore. Actually 'til gfx and text won't be separated in the engine...it's impossible to make proper gfx packs.
I don't know what you define as a 'proper' gfx pack, but I'm not looking at ascii anymore, and that's plenty proper for me.

Yes, there is racial terrain. Kingdom factions spread land imbued with life while fallen factions spread land imbued with death. I'm sure with modding this could be applied a whole number of ways. Also, you cant expect someone to read one op to understand what you mean in a completely seperate one.
Please learn about the game before posting suggestions. A little research would show there are no elves/orcs/dwarves and that factions do have racial terrain.
You can still kill them with zealots or a quick surround with drones if the T isn't microing very well. Also, by the time the reaper gets to your side of the map, I think having a stalker out is possible.
You can beat anything with anything if you micro well and they dont. However, if both players have good micro a zealot will lose to a reaper every time(unless said zealot has charge). Also, you think wrong. Orb, the guy
They also just increased the build times for reactors and tech labs.
It was only reactors. Tech labs still build the same. And Agent, if a Terran is going early reaper, a protoss can do everything possible and still not get a stalker out fast enough. Was watching a guys stream today who checked the times and doing a 7 pylon fast-gate to core is still 10 seconds behind a 10rax reaper.
This is supposed to be present. You can send out poorly-training peasants, or take the time to train them to be elite.
Ok, but the only problem with adding ninjas is that even with fake hollywood attire we still wont be able to see them.
Colossi need the range upgrade. With the range upgrade it is very difficult for marines to target them. Without it they are nowhere near as effective. Hellions I haven't seen to be much of a problem. Reapers and Maruaders are the hot topic as of now, expecially vs protoss. Protoss can't get stalkers out early enough to stop them.
This is a late April Fools joke, right?
While I don't think Terran is way OP, they are much stronger than they were a patch or two ago. A reasonable way to see race balance is checking 'semi-pro' tournaments. Just yesterday, a mini tournament was ran with 16 people, breakdown was 8 Terran, 4 Protoss, 4 Zerg and Terran winning. Terran seems over-represented, however, in a few days a second torunament with same format will be ran with 5 Terran, 6 Protoss, 5 Zerg. A TeamLiquid Europe Invitational(the best f
Yea, this is why I was so excited about the "everything is a resource" aspect of camp 1 in the internal debate. Because back then, with per city stockpiling as well, outlying cities wouldn't have to necessarily have the infrastructure to build swords, but swords could be shipped in from cities that do have that infrastructure. The possibilities for strategy are endless with this sort of system. And seriously, it wouldn't take more then
Quoting Tridus, reply 85 This kind of thing happens because it's ultimately more fun for most players then trying to figure out how to transport stuff around the map is. You didn't have to figure out how to transport stuff around the map before hand either. It was just a matter of building a road to them and transport was everywhere. What is gone is the fun of making tactical choices of where to place your cities.
Stardock already does that.
well.. You still need to spend more ressource of your nation to food distribution and organisation than one that has all its farms at the doorstep. This is an actual very, very realistic concern. Food transportation, and has been the limit, the strenght and weaknesses of so many nations over history. So, if you have your food sources away from your population, and you don't have a natural mean of transport (river), you w
Besides Dragons, and perhaps some really high level spell stuff, there are no conventional 'super units' since all units are designed by the player using whatever research they have. There won't be a 'battleship' unit with no equal because there will be many possible variations of the 'battleship' unit you can create and you opponent can create as well. Also, Dragons are supposed to be extremely powerful and extremely rare, so I will be pissed if there is no way to permanently bring t

I'm concerned with what is going to be the end result. I had such high hopes for the economy back in the Internal Debates Made External. Camp 1 amazed me unbelievably. I've been playing Dwarf Fortress recently and it's sad to think that a game like that (one without financial backing) has a more advanced economy than Elemental is g
