After loading a game that locked up on me(no error reports were created) I played for a while until I got bored with the situation. I exited to the main menu and clicked to create a new game and had an instant crash to desktop. dropbox with debug and dump file. I added the debug from the documents/mygames/elemental folder as well because it contained a few extra lines that the other one didn't hav

These games are made pretty carefully with psychological principles in mind to reinforce peoples desire to keep playing. They can act similar to addictive substances, only without the substance part. Families actually have been destroyed over these types of games, so "friends or relatives not being able to drag you awa
Rishkith, you seriously need to get a grip. Stardock isn't ignoring input, they simply made a decision you dont like based on a wide variety on input. So stop the whining already.
You're games are getting old hortz... or you're an impersonator simply trying to troll.
First off is just basic stategy. If food is used building houses instead of feeding the population you remove the very basic stategy of starving them out. Especially since this game is using food as a global resource to allow for the specilizations in cities. After playing the beta I was of the mind that food as a global wasn't as attractive as it sounded before I got into beta But if you are trying to avoid the every city is an em
Testers and developers aren't the same people. No doubt all the testers want the game to go into multiplayer and add the 3d engine but that's because our livelihood (ok maybe that is a bit dramatic) isn't on the line. In short, I want to play more of the game but that's only because I don't care if it throws off their beta strategy.
You'd be surprised at how professional most beta testers are. I doubt 70% would recommend moving on
But it seems the team is to gung-ho on this one to want to stop and consider customer feedback on the issue anyways so I hope Elemental works out as another game with Global resources.
Quit being melodramatic. The Devs have seen countless posts on the subject supporting either side. Don't act like everyone is against this when clearly that's not the case.
Wow, thanks for the insightful post Frogboy! Hopefully it will quell some fears that the economic system wont have enough enough depth.
Frogboy has said that the tactical combat will be continuous turn based, like Baldur's Gate, but with the option to pause in between turns. So, depending on what you like, it can be more real time or more turn based.

These are quite new [couple of months old..] ->
The only problem with those it that they look more like trailer material than actual gameplay. The other picture has the UI and tactical grid that gives a better impressi
The lack of significant opponent AI shouldn't be related to path finding. Just seems like an issue where move commands avoid all units instead of non-friendly ones.
100% want. The ability to equip beasts to be even better killing machines is absolutely needed.
The beta is borderline fun. Usually when fun starts happening a crash occurs soon after. Balance and general 'undoneness' also keeps things from being very fun. Things are really just coming together to make a coherent game now. A lot of features have been implemented(to some degree, very little is finalized) and it's getting stable enough to play for longer then a couple dozen turns. Later this week there is supposed to be a relativity large update to help stability. If you w
I've had this happen to me as well. In my case it was due to a unit(my Sov) being blocked by another unit while still trying to execute a move order. I fixed it by manually moving my Sov to use up the movement points. Once the movement points were used the button became available again.
I had the same problem but with the city farther away so probably not related to that. I actually think this is because the resource tile is on the mountain range.
Here's a link to drop box with zip of debug and dump. At first it was a recruited hero teleporting across the map. It seemed like it happened only when moving onto goody huts, and started happening a few turns before the crash. My Sov also teleported right next to an enemy city after I defeated said civ's Sov in battle. I then invaded that city and had the crash.
I'm still getting the crash when invading enemy cities [e digicons]:'([/e]
I think the plan is that cities don't need roads to be connected to the global resource pool, they just vastly increase the efficiency of caravans. This makes sense anyways, people don't need roads to transport goods, roads just decrease the time it takes. Therefore, I think cities not connected to other cities have an increased time to get materials, and as such buildings and training take longer than a city with a road. A city producing resources locally should have less production time tha
Armies can get very large. One of the main points Brad(Frogboy) has made about war in Elemental is that in the early game a 'army' might consist of a handful peasants. However, late game armies can consist of thousands of units.

While i would get angry over it i understand their decision still make's me ticked off though first time stardock ever did this to us testers.
You're not the only opinion t
People are represented individually. The one person who starts in your town is really 1 person. The 5 person squad is called an 'army' by the game because it's the only title it can give when multiple units are put together. Turn length and such isn't concrete yet. They're focusing on making gameplay work well without worrying about 'realistic' timing and such and then they'll making the timing work.
Dead horse? Wow, the beta hasn't even been out 24 hours and you're declaring it fate accompli. Are you in a rush to call it done because it really just isn't popular and you want it to stick? I hope Stardock hasn't made up their mind because the model just doesn't appear to be fun and right now appears to be taking a lot away from the game. They're usually very good listeners but it does seem they're intent to ram this one through in a h
I can confirm this happened to me as well.
There's been enough beating of the dead horse. I was originally in favor of a very complex economic model. Since then I have been convinced that it adds nothing that the simpler global economy cannot accomplish. However, at this point it really doesn't matter. Frogboy/Stardock have made up their minds that global resources are much more fun without detracting much from strategy. If you wish to continue beating this horse, don't get mad when no one listens.
I'd say that's good news since I made it nearly 250 turns before CTD with original 1Z.
