1.09n is BETA of 1.1. You may update to this version when you'll set impuls to "Show Pre-Release (Alpha/Beta) Versions". I don't recommend it. Just wait for 1.1.

My findings after first 1.09n game: similar to 2) A bear attacked my defensless town and nothing happened. He did the same next turn and also no city raze. 5. Choppy graphics in tactical. Lots of frame skipping. 6. Pop up order is a mess. Try research, arcane and 2 idle cities at once. You'll see what I'm talking about. 7. As above. If 2+ or more cities gets idle at the same turn you have to click all the pop ups and later check the previous cities again<
There's no point in detailed game remakes. We can still play most of it. Lately I've spend many hours with MoM, SMAC and Fragiled Alliance. And I tell you. Thay aren't great. What makes them great are memories. When we were young and beautyfull:) These games have one big fun fuctor - the ideas. At some population the city prestige could be lowered and some sanitation buildings could be raised to counter the effect. The buildings should have some kind of upkeep.. but with all global resources that would be just annoying 'another building'.

While I love resource chains in Settlers or Anno I think it won't be fun in Elemental. Of course everything depends on implementation but the 'urge' to make everything a global resource will make the chains management plainly boring I guess. I think the game need more diversity in many aspects. To make it richer and just funnier to play. I'm little puzzled with the 'commuting' stuff. I think that's unrealistic that all specialists come from capital. I'm for local resources for the sake of realism. But of course there have to be some simplicity because of gameplay. Anyway, as most of us I'm also waiting for 1.1:)

That's weird. I think the SimCity4 is quite simple and I's say there are too few factors to manage. But even now, with dozens of customs lots it's visually astonishing despite of course of its artificiality. After hiring Kael my hopes for 1.1 diminished a little. If the 1.1 will be released in October it won't contain Kael's work. So I guess now I'm waiting for 1.2. With a little more diversity and lots of new content:) Although the Kael's role is not completely clear. E.g. can he introduce some major idea that could change the core aspects of the game?... dunno.

The messages alone are not silly. The silliness is that it happens every X turns and usually is sent by a few factions. Example. I'm in a war with F1. Every X turns F2 tells me to attack F3 and immediately F3 wants me to attack F2. Another thing. When I try to make the faction in the war I need to spend some gildars and/or diplomatic capital. But when they want me to get involved they don't offer me anything.
Hey Freebird. If you spent 50$ already you might as well sit here with us and wait what the EWoM will become. Download an update when it'll be available and play few turns. I hope that some day you'll say 'Damn it's good I've waited'... or you can try to get a refund.

I really don't know if that's the direction that the devs would go but I agree with the OP. Adding of some 'flavor' elements in unit design would add a lot. 1) Different armor/shield/cape textures with al kind of heraldic/fantasy symbols - with colours sliders obligatory:) 2) Custom elements (just like in GalCiv2). To add some spikes, banners and similar, resize and/or rotate them. 3) Different body types: fat, skinny, muscular, tall, short.
