CthulhuTech is a universe screaming to be modded into a game: ...an innovative storytelling game that started out as a combination of two popular genres. The first was that of cosmic horror, made popular by H. P. Lovecraft and culminating in the modern day with elements of Mike Mignola’s Hellboy and John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness . The second was that of giant mecha Japanese animation, made popular by
Quoting Annatar11, reply 93 Yes and since console sales for TES4s 1st month were higher than for the entire lifespan of the PC, that obviously means that no game should ever be developed for PC because it is a smaller slice of the pie. /sarcasm off
Uh I'd like to know where you got your numbers on that. Because the PC sale were actually higher...
Sooo uhh...Audio Book? Audible has really spoiled me with such a great place to buy those...I don't really read many books these days.
While I wont crap on TES as hard as Psycock, I will agree with him. The extra art assets will help produce mods faster. The XML and Python will make more advanced mod development easier. Elemental may not be a ZOMG HUGE blockbuster title at release but I suspect it will have a very very verrrry long tail.
Eh...even though the constructible gardens made sense people complained about "too much clicking" and they went away leaving us with the blah mechanic we have now. IMHO the gardens were a little OP at the time, but a 4 tile farm that yields 3 food would have still given people "an out" if they couldn't secure a fertile land. At 4 tiles they'd be too large to spam in a city if you wanted to do anything else with it besides produce food.
Oh and Frogboy that capitalist part of you shouldn't feel too bad. Just consider that stuff reimbursement. I mean we did pay for a product on good faith, and to basically be testers. consultants and QC.
I love modding but I'm not convinced they can move units. We'll see. Essence = mana cap. Nothing more or less.
Oh? Morrowind wouldn't have sold as well as it did, for as long as it did with out all those mods. Same with Oblivion. Come to think of it...I'm pretty sure Bethesda's entire business model is centered on the community making their okay games into great ones.
Mind Worms anyone?
*insert bug joke here*
Which is really why people should be focusing on the release version of the game before popping up expansion threads on the forums
Not really. the game is set to be "feature complete" in 4 days. Discussing what we want from the initial release right now would be a little silly. And they've already confirmed a full on expansion for next year. Most of us have seen enough of the game systems to already have a fairly good idea o
wasnt going to post anymore from this game but the sound starts going wonkey right before it crashes: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5155150/Elemental0_806-2010-07-12T08-15-55-901.zip
I'm incredibly fascinated by the technical side of game engines so like a big dork I'm hoping for more engine refinement and features such as X/Y wraping, better & faster AI, more parts exposed to modding, and other changes that would be too big or drastic for a simple patch. Gameplay wise if the beta is any indication I'd definitely like some love given to the whole.."practicaly immortal ruler" thing.
All from the same save: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5155150/Elemental0_806-2010-07-12T06-34-54-607.zip and these 2 happened possibly on the same turn: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5155150/Elemental0_806-2010-07-12T06-31-56-119.zip http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5155150/Elemental0_806-2010-07-12T06-30-04-10.zip It should also be noted that I did use the research cheat.
I've noticed that on the strategic map, you can move your Sov around freely inside a tile, I was thinking it may be possible to shoe-horn tileless movement even into the strategic map. And that would be awesome. For example replacing the tiled movement system, with 2 radii, one for movement and one for engagement. This would still keep the game firmly TBS. and also eliminate that pesky hex VS space time distorting octagon debate. Though calculating the terrain movement penal
Dunno what that key combo is supposed to do, but it results in a freeze, and a crash with no dump generated.
I just updated to BETA 3A. I hope I don't have to install 7 on my new system just to play with Elemental...
Why wouldn't you have 7 or vista on your NEW system?
1: A retail expansion pack has already been mentioned, what sorts of things can we expect from that? Other than new factions of course. 2: What is the biggest technical limitation you've faced developing Elemental? 3: Galciv3 when? As a side note I heard a couple of guys on the Gamers With Jobs podcast talking about their experience with the beta and expressing concern over whether or not the game can be finis
Yeah tried that...no luck.
Is there a reason why you guys are releasing an expansion pack so early? I am wondering if the expansion pack is free or not.
I'm fine with an early expansion pack like that...assuming it isn't a "micro expansion" like those by Ironclad. Not to knock those guys or anything, I loved Sins(and eagerly await their next project), but even after all the expansions were released they just&nb
Same. They are still unbuildable.
ta 3-A is mainly just a stability pass at Beta 3 which we felt was too buggy, even for a beta. We put off making the tactical battles public because we still are adding AI and more tactical maps to it so that’ll come in next week in a Beta 3-B. Hm...this means no random maps for tactical battles? [e digicons]8(|[/e]
Aww and here i was hoping our city layouts would be used in the c
The ones i know of so far are: ctrl+q 150ish spell points ctrl+e researches everything ctrl+p adds experience to your sovereign ctrl+u reveals the map ctrl+t teleports the selected unit to your mouse pointer. ctrl+m gives you money. there might be one or 2 others. also found ctrl+n that seems to spawn a spouse. ctrl+C appears to copy the selected unit. alas it doesnt work correctly

Stability is way improved! 2. Runs much smoother, music does not stutter anymore. 3. I have been testing it at 1920X1200 with most of the graphic settings at max. Bad 1. Loading games seems to be hit or miss. 2. Occasional cra
